Recycling is the most expensive process. Out of the 3R process. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Corporations have jumped on the 3rd because it's where the money is. If we truly cared for our future we would 1st reduce the waste by enforcing right to repair so that people don't have to throw out an item when a single component breaks. Then ban planned obsolescence so that items last a lot longer and even if a catastrophic breakdown occurs send back the broken item to the manufacturer where they'll strip it for parts and use the functional ones again. Yes this would lower corporate profits but it could be somewhat nullified if we also enforced basic component standard so that most components aren't proprietary to specific product. This is all possible btw because it's been usually enforced during war time to reduce expenses during both wars. Reduce expenses, Think about it for a sec, we could have cheap, durable items that can be repaired easily and the only thing it would cost the society as a whole is most billionaires would have to settle for being millionaires instead. Damn, imagine not having a class of people who singlehandedly bribe whole nations of politicians anymore. Anybody see any downsides to that? Legit asking.
