I'm a Colorado native but have lived in the desert 35 years. It's 7,000 ft elevation in Salida, so that's why you are so winded. People from low altitudes need to know they may need a few days to adjust, as the change can cause headaches, dizziness (not a good sign), tiredness and being winded. The scenery and environment are truly worth it!
I lived in Salida a little over 10 years ago, and there are some changes. The Natural Grocer didn't exist, and the trail you roller bladed on is twice as long. Happy to see it's still as charming as ever. The Fritz is a great place to eat, and yes they do eat a lot of Pizza. Moonlight Pizza is amazing!
