Thank you for making these videos. As a European politics student its great to get this information in a visual format and in an easy to understand manner! Keep up the good work! Edit: On a more superficial note: In order to attract more viewers you should consider changing the background of your videos. Your animations are clear and simple, just like they should be, but the background is quite off putting in my opinion, and you could surely use a more streamlined background design.
Lovely videos! Especially the ones explaining the institutions were very helpful. However, I was hoping you'd elaborate more on the nature of EU law here - the supremacy and autonomy of EU law, the direct and indirect effect, the direct applicability ... This is what the EU law is about and what people don't understand
And also you forgot to mention that directives are not necessarily binding for all member states, and that it's forbidden to "translate" regulations into the national legislation
Cicero tells of the rule of Roman style law handed down from 1st to the current 4th Holy Roman empire. But don't ever forget the history of absolute power and murder and mayhem perpetrated by all the previous incantations.
Maybe in the future we'll make a video with some ideas for improvement, but for now we simply aim to objectively explain aspects of the EU, pointing out both negative and positive sides in the process. How do you think it should be fixed?
you're assuming the EU is bad yet the structure of the EU has allowed European countries to surpass larger nations with more resources-such as the USA, Russia, India, Brazil, Nigeria, and China in terms of quality of life
It can do that, but normally because Congress doesn't have that much direct authority over domestic matters, it has to make funding tied to this and has to set the tax rates rather high, so many things have very strange effects.
How do you mean? After it has been passed? In such a case I would assume a new legislative procedure would be followed with a bill that cancels the existing law.
Doubt it'll ever happen! The Organization of American States is the closest thing that we are getting, even so OAS behaves a lot like the UN, than the EU.
I think it should be investigated if the European Union now and then is legislated with the Bible written as a story. The word immunity (Latin immunitas, freedom from obligations to the state) comes from a religious revelation from the middle ages, most likely from a pope to become lawless, and which has since been rewritten into full immunity, personal and functional immunity (legally, cannot be prosecuted for criminal act) to the kings (head of state), presidents, and prime ministers, for law decisions and actions. The political exploitation of the vital ecosystem has now led to forest death (force majeure) and how will it affect people's economy, etc.
Well to be honest, I am not good in politics. I think that if everybody became very open and accepting to their family around Europe, integration would have been easy. Aside from Economic Union and Monetary Union, they should proceed with full integration with the likes of Banking Union, Fiscal and Taxation Union, and Eventually Political Union. They should also make a treaty of becoming a union of perpetuity where in no secession from the union/ federation/ confederation. They should democratically elect thier leaders in all branches of the union. Individual Prime Minister/ President / Chancellor will only somewhat act like a Governor in their State. Foreign Affairs, Military, and Future Planning and Direction should be controlled by the EU President. I don't know. What do you think? I'm no expert.
We also are no experts, but I think you point out quite nicely what a big part of the problem is. Some want more integration, while others want to keep as much power as possible with the individual states. These mixed wishes led to the situation we are in now, with only some things organised on the EU level, which, as we have seen, can lead to difficulties in some cases and in competition/selfish behaviour in others. Whether or not a proper federal system is desirable depends mostly on a person's opinion, but I think most can agree that it would probably be a lot more efficient and effective.
It's hard to pass a law like this without the consent of a member state's executive government. Even when Council unanimity is not needed, they still need a qualified majority and they tend to avoid passing a decision without unanimity or very close to it.
The video is about the different forms of EU law, almost all new laws have to be approved by Parliament and The Coucil. Parliament is directly elected through European elections, so no unelected officials there. The Council represent the governments of the Member States, they are all elected (indirectly) in national elections. Only the Commission is filled with unelected officials, just like the civil servants of national governments. Just to check, were you talking about the Commission? Or something else?:)
@@Ciceroni1 Add that the Commission is also nominated by the Council by qualified majority, approved by the Parliament, well, the president is by the council, and the Parliament has more power over the rest of the commission, and can also remove them at will by a 2/3 vote.

If you are still uncertain (or ever was) on those topics, then i can warmly recommend "European law, by Robert Schütze"
2:31 I can’t wait to see a decision that applies only to buildings in Poland, male businessmen in the Lyon area, and entirety of Austria
I like the fact that the UK arrow at 1min30sec just drops off the edge of the picture and does not reach the goal :))
Haha, thanks for noticing ;)
U did what my teacher couldnt do in two weeks or Im stupid but your video helped, thanks!
That's some good education on how the legislative acts work. Thanks.
Thank You so much for this video! As an international student, I was pretty confused about this entire concept. Now its much clear :) Cheers!
Thank you for these clear, helpful videos. Helped me a lot in my studies much love from Finland!
Thanks for such an educational channel.
Wow... It's really very simple explanation.thanks!
Nice explanation :) The difference was clearly explained and I understood very well. Thank you
Thank you for watching and for you compliments. It's very much appreciated. :)
Thanks, didn't need to search my whole book for the answer.
Glad we could help!
What about Council Decisions like the Prüm one? Do they work in the same way as the Commission Decisions you mention in the video?
1:28 Britain xDDD LOL
Hahaha love how the UK just completely misses the directive goal.
Nice, subtle detail!
Thanks! 😃

Thanks a lot.....I got clarification about the difference between all 3 terms
Glad we could help :)
European political drama TV series when
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can you make videos about how to fix EU? what is the future? and any updates.
Maybe in the future we'll make a video with some ideas for improvement, but for now we simply aim to objectively explain aspects of the EU, pointing out both negative and positive sides in the process. How do you think it should be fixed?

Directives are a very good idea... it sets a common goal without taking your freedom, i wish the usa did that with states
It can do that, but normally because Congress doesn't have that much direct authority over domestic matters, it has to make funding tied to this and has to set the tax rates rather high, so many things have very strange effects.
Very nice
Question how would a hypothetical regulations /directives be repealed?
How do you mean? After it has been passed?
In such a case I would assume a new legislative procedure would be followed with a bill that cancels the existing law.
Music is distracting, but thanks!
God bless this video 🥰

Why the music? Its so distracting. No one’s here for entertainment really so that was not needed
None at all? It seems very silent in the background without anything. However, sometimes we made it too loud, I agree:)
We need an EU equivalent for the americas
Sackeshi Productions Dude, its existed for 200 years. Its called the United States.
Doubt it'll ever happen! The Organization of American States is the closest thing that we are getting, even so OAS behaves a lot like the UN, than the EU.

3:13 "...because the EU should stay out of the business of member states as much as possible..." HA! that's hilarious 😆

BREEEEEXIT :) BYE BYE EU!!!!
