Black Canyon. If you drive down to the bottom of the canyon it's like entering nother world. The Canyon is so beautiful but that river at the bottom is just amazing.

Ive hiked up to Hanging Lake a couple of times and was just blown awake by the beauty of it. I have a real problem with altitude when I’m out there, coming from 300 ft above sea level, so I have to rest frequently to catch my breath. I visit the area often but have never adjusted to altitude.

Great Sand Dunes is amazing. Some others not mentioned are Rocky Mountain National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Telluride, Ouray, the drive between Leadville and Aspen, and of course the MILLION DOLLAR HIGHWAY between Silverton and Ouray. But then again most of Colorado is amazing.

My favorite place is home to 5 generations of my family...Salida, Colorado. You have the natural hot springs, surrounded by 14ers, and the most scenic views you will ever see. You are just a short way from St. Elmo, an old ghost town from the mining days. Chalk Cliffs has natural hot springs as well.

I grew up in the metro area. I remember when Highlands Ranch was a farmers field; Chatfield Rsvr didn't exist; I-225 stopped at Mississippi and everything was field from Chambers Rd east and Alameda south in Aurora. That was merely back in the late 60's to early 70's too. The metro area has grown so much since then.

Very nice! I'm visiting Colorado in December. I've got 3 full days, staying in Denver and I'm trying to figure out what to see...

I was just in Estes Park last weejend celebrating my 32nd birthday. I highly recommend making the drive up there. Pretty much anywhere up there in my experience is amazing. I did NOT want to come back home to Texas that's for sure. Just gotta wait a couple more months and I'll be back.

You could also try out Colorado springs, or the brainerd lakes basin.

It's changed a lot since so many people visit it. I used to walk up to the lake back in 1980 when people still took care of it and it was very peaceful up there.

Nice, beautiful areas... try the Maroon bells in the fall (the leaves and colors are amazing) and try hanging lake in summer.
