I grew up in the metro area. I remember when Highlands Ranch was a farmers field; Chatfield Rsvr didn't exist; I-225 stopped at Mississippi and everything was field from Chambers Rd east and Alameda south in Aurora. That was merely back in the late 60's to early 70's too. The metro area has grown so much since then.
The road through the national monument in Grand Junction to fruita lake is spectacular. Been up there many times. Glenwood canyon used to be a beautiful drive before they put the new highway in. One of my favorites was the drive through Indian hills , but I think Grand mesa is equally as pretty.
Hanging lake and the great sand dunes are amazing i live in colorado and me and my family go on hikes and trips alot hanging lake is a fun hike about 1 mile but fairly hard amd steep but so woth and and theres a friendly chipmunk who greets you and i went to the great sand dunes on a school trip to mesa verde and all i can say is if its hot wear good shoes ur feet will burn but if its cloudy its perfect 👌
Tyler, my father lived in the cabin that H.A. Smith built, and we used to swim in the pools just down from there. At on time the Younger brothers cousins lived farther up and my Father played with them. My GrandFather died there in escalante, buried in montrose. Have you seen the Walker cabin made of river rock? I grew up in Colorado and always find these places new and refreshing but Denver has gotten so crowded with people from other states that to go to any of these places today is just heartbreaking. With the new comers loud and boisterous talk, cars parked everywhere and then them not knowing what every Coloradoan knows "pack out what you pack in" means litter everywhere, its amazing the disrespect. The Marshall fire is an extreme but this year, June 2022, the sunshine barely peaks through, the sky is almost always over cast. I expect record heat coming to us soon..

I’m touring Colorado right now from California. I plan on moving here. Basically everywhere I’ve gone is beautiful. It’s a very relaxing state. The only thing I don’t like is Denver and the food. Denver is very boring and the night life is underwhelming. I’m used to every city having at least one street where it’s back to back bars and clubs but every bar in Denver is few and far in between. Locals suggest Larimer square but really larimer square would be what i would expect from a small town. The food has also not impressed. Idk what I’m going to do when I no longer have access to good Mexican and Asian food. Denver is due for a food and drink cultural revolution in which it needs to define itself.
Black Canyon. If you drive down to the bottom of the canyon it's like entering nother world. The Canyon is so beautiful but that river at the bottom is just amazing.
I am moving to Colorado Springs at the end of the month and I can't wait! I've never been there before. But seeing videos like this let's me know God is real and he's in Colorado. I can't wait!

I've been to a couple of these places in my travels but one place I will never forget is hanging lake. When you first see the lake it literally takes your breath away. Its just incredible
Ive hiked up to Hanging Lake a couple of times and was just blown awake by the beauty of it. I have a real problem with altitude when I’m out there, coming from 300 ft above sea level, so I have to rest frequently to catch my breath. I visit the area often but have never adjusted to altitude.
What everyone omits about Hanging lake is that it's been *ruined* by tourism. The hike is strenuous, not for beginners and the water is no longer blue because people screwed up the ecosystem by swimming it in.
My favorite place is home to 5 generations of my family...Salida, Colorado. You have the natural hot springs, surrounded by 14ers, and the most scenic views you will ever see. You are just a short way from St. Elmo, an old ghost town from the mining days. Chalk Cliffs has natural hot springs as well.
Great Sand Dunes is amazing. Some others not mentioned are Rocky Mountain National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Telluride, Ouray, the drive between Leadville and Aspen, and of course the MILLION DOLLAR HIGHWAY between Silverton and Ouray. But then again most of Colorado is amazing.
Sadly, these are also places the arrogant and ignorant of the state go to throw trash on the ground, or to unleash their dogs to roam around messing with the wild life, While taking selfies, that they will upload to instagram to act like they spent their day outside when reality is they walked for less than 20 to and from their car, while tossing trash along the way.
I definitely recommend Estes Park. Going through there are a lot of lakes like Emerald Lake , Dream Lake and Lake Haiyaha. Really beautiful places. And it’s not only the lakes that make it worth the hike it’s very beautiful all through the trails !
The hike up to hanging lake is well worth it. This is coming from someone who lives in Florida who isn't used to the altitude in Glenwood canyon. It'll definitely leave you winded coming from sea level.
How 'bout Garden of the Gods, Palmer Park, and Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado Springs, the Air Force Academy grounds, especially the old cathedral, Cripple Creek in the fall when the aspen are turning, and Rocky Mountain National Park ...
It's pronounced "Canyon" (City) cuz of the little squiggle (tilde or enya) above the "n" (Spanish pronunciation). Also, it's Glenwood Springs, not just Glenwood (tho the man who founded the town named it after his hometown of Glenwood, Iowa, cuz he said it reminded him of his hometown (for some unknown reason...can't see the similarities)! I would tell you to do Glenwood Canyon but you'd better wait 'til the current fire there is finally put out. I do hope it doesn't make it less appealing to viewers cuz it is really something special, and at the time they constructed the other two lanes of the interstate thru the canyon, it was considered the biggest construction project in US history...maybe still is, I don't know for sure.
I consider myself very lucky to have seen every one of these beautiful places, amazing video of you every are in routte county near steamboat check out devils causeway it’s an extremely intense hike but worth every second

I live in El Paso County where Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak is.We here in El Paso County hate Teller County for leaving us in 1899.We will get revenge and take back Teller.The only reason why Teller left us was because people perfered to live in Colorado Springs than in Cripple Creek.Come back Teller

How on Earth is Garden of the Gods not on here? btw, I literally live 3 mins away from GOTG and see it every morning on the way to school. Its funny because I just see it as rocks. I've seen it so many times its not even special to me anymore. Of course it is, but its like that no matter what the object/place is. Its weird to think Millions upon Millions of people come to see the one rock, and yet I can walk 5 minutes to get to see it :)
Daisy the Evil Chihuahua Queens Canyon is just to the west of GOG, truly gorgeous. (But the xtians own it, and prohibit public access). And the guards at the GOG are mildly annoying, also limiting public access.
I had to chuckle when I saw hanging lake. Yes. It is absolutely amazing, I've been there so many times, because I live in the area. It's a great view. If you can survive the hike up to it😂 that's the tricky part

Hanging lake is gorgeous. I've hiked up there a few times. We were allowed to swim around in it about 20 years ago - it is freezing cold - but I doubt they still allow it.
Never been to Colorado but it is a beautiful beautiful place! The alpine lakes and mountains are what my dreams are made of, especially if I had a fishing rod in my hand and a glowing campfire ready for fresh trout.

How on Earth is Garden of the Gods not on here? btw, I literally live 3 mins away from GOTG and see it every morning on the way to school. Its funny because I just see it as rocks. I've seen it so many times its not even special to me anymore. Of course it is, but its like that no matter what the object/place is. Its weird to think Millions upon Millions of people come to see the one rock, and yet I can walk 5 minutes to get to see it :)

Daisy the Evil Chihuahua Queens Canyon is just to the west of GOG, truly gorgeous. (But the xtians own it, and prohibit public access). And the guards at the GOG are mildly annoying, also limiting public access.
GotG's is overrated.
I had to chuckle when I saw hanging lake. Yes. It is absolutely amazing, I've been there so many times, because I live in the area. It's a great view. If you can survive the hike up to it😂 that's the tricky part

The drive up 550 from silverton into ouray is one of the most sketchy roads to drive on, but it is beautiful, post card worthy

Hanging lake is gorgeous. I've hiked up there a few times. We were allowed to swim around in it about 20 years ago - it is freezing cold - but I doubt they still allow it.
Yeah, now you are not even allowed to walk on the log, I only remember walking on the log and climbing the back wall by spouting rock.

Never been to Colorado but it is a beautiful beautiful place! The alpine lakes and mountains are what my dreams are made of, especially if I had a fishing rod in my hand and a glowing campfire ready for fresh trout.
