I feel like we have been stuck in a loop for decades where writers can only think of the same type of protagonists in their movies.
Divorced couples, either the man gets a new wife that will die halfway through the movie so that he can go back to his ex. Or the woman gets a new husband that will get killed halfway through the movie so she can go back to her ex.
Oh and teenagers that do stupid things.
95% of end-of-the-world type scenarios have literally that as main characters.

I can only assume it may be similar in the US, but in Germany we have companies that accept as many Gov contracts as they can, put up all the safety equipment like pylons etc. and then dont bother about the construction site anymore, as per Gov contracts the jobs dont have to be finished as soon as possible, they only have to be finished until a certain date. So if companies know they need 1 year for a job but they got a 3 year timeframe, they will accept the contract and then first finish other jobs and treat the Gov contract like a side-hustle

Hello, I think what would be a more interesting movie is the prequel to this, the first time these creatures appeared and the information that came out after! The people who survived, how did they do that? What was the talk on the news? What did the scientists know and what is the theory as to where these monsters are coming from and why? With good writers, director actors in a budget, this could be really really good.

Should have install gates made with the strongest metal to seal up the gate holes so that the creatures can't come out. They could have built the shelters near coastal areas and utilized the seawater to their advantage. Shelters could have been equipped with some type of salt water spray/hose system to keep the creatures away from the shelters.

Disaster movies tend to be set in the countries the makers live in. Mira (2022) was a disaster movie made in Russia. It was set in Vladivostok, Russia. Most Godzilla movies are made in Japan and feature Tokyo, or other cities in Japan, as stomping grounds for Godzilla. I saw a recap for a movie set in France involving a poisonous fog, made by French and French Canadians. Hollyweird is not the only source for movies in the world, unless you are into THE MESSAGE.

Given the misinformation spouted by our government about Covid during the entire pandemic I think the odds are now higher that people will ignore the authorities. Plus, there is a difference between dealing with a monster that will kill you and eat you versus a virus that isn't all that deadly overall, not much worse than the flu for most people. Besides, a single day is much different than the apparent length of this "eclipse".
