Thanks Peter, yeah we loved the layout, but there was a lot to change to make it feel more open and airy. Also a lot of extra weight which could be removed, which on a small cat can make a big difference. Nearly there though, hopefully soon I can do an updated boat tour!
Hello Patrick. I've a 9M with 2 inboard Nanni 10hp diesel engines. Also looking at epropulsion systems, pod snd outboard solutions. The Navy 6 Evo has hydrogenation so wouldn't need the complicated raising system if you were prepared to sacrifice sailing drag for regeneration. Keen to see your final solution
Hi John, I've heard that regen only works with the ePropulsion motors. They also say you shouldn't leave the outboards permanently in the salt water, so I'll have to come up with some way to raise them, at least when at anchor. I'll do an update when I have more to show. Cheers, Patrick
Hello Patrick, can you point me in the direction to the electric motors you are installing? I hate my 1GM10 diesels and would love to convert to much more powerful electrics.
I've gone back and forth over my engine choices for far longer than I've had a boat. Initially I was going to use epropulsion 6kw outboard motors, so I could raise them for sailing. Now I think I'm rather going to keep things simple and fit the epropulsion 6kw pod drive motors. They're easier to install and I don't need to come up with a lifting mechanism. They're 10hp equivalent when it comes to thrust, but according to those who use electric, if you're happy to move slowly they move boats well even using very little power. Budget around EUR6000 for two motors, and probably a minimum of another EUR3000 for a 14-15kwh battery bank if you put it together yourself. Some people double that size, but my plan is to make up for any lack of capacity with as much solar as I can fit!
Many countries do not allow putting the poo in the sea if you are at a dock, anchor or near shore. Once you are off shore you can empty your holding tanks in the ocean with a built-in pump.
Nice boat!

How about all the windows, doesn't that get awfully hot in summer? @@SailingElectra

Sorry meant to say that regen only works with the ePropulsion batteries. My battery pack with
Will be a DIY pack.

Yet another update, I went back to the outboards as originally planned. Trading simplicity for ease of maintenance...
Nice plan with the 15kw batteries. Im guessing lifepo4 prismatic cells?
@@lightend100 correct. I'm using EVE 280AH cells. 16 in series.
nice - where's the boat stationed and where are you planning to sail?
At the moment it's in Pula, Croatia. Hopefully it'll be in the water soon, then I'll bring it to Venice. Later on we'll explore the Med. Can't wait!
@@SailingElectra that sounds awesome good luck with the renovations. Are u both retired now or doing it on a trip to Croatia?
@@hj007 Just on a trip to Croatia at the moment, but we'll be staying in Italy full time.
@@SailingElectra thats awesome. We look forward to seeing a tweet or blog post that goes into the details of living in Italy/the Med!
