Honestly looks good. The battles seem to run well enough that I don't think I'd mind playing it like this, but even if it gets less playable later into the game, the fact that it's performing this well gives me hope that in just a few years it'll be as unquestionably playable on new hardware as PSX/N64/Dreamcast are now.
@@crashmasterj0837 There are certain sets in TTYD that have a lot of stuff at once. As you can see on the video, when the X-nauts attack all at once. A couple of examples for this could be the Punies when you have to scort 101 of them in Chapter 2, the smorgs in the Train (I don't remember the chapter), all the backgrounds elements in Keelhaul Key, also the characters aren't just 1 set texture but a combination of various "limbs" that make the whole character. Just giving a couple of examples I remember out the top of my head since TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time.
Fair to say this won't run GC full speed :( . Hopefully on the RP3 though. The fact RP2+ runs N64 DC and Saturn full speed at Its price point Is setting the tone for future device's. Hopefully Anbernic take notice after shitting the bed a little bit with the RG552 price point. A device on the market thats half the price that can do basically the same as your device for Is not a good look for them.
I've been reading through the comments, I'm not really a tech guy so what is it that people are noticing that makes this seem unplayable? It looked great to me the whole way through, I only faintly remember what it was like on the gc, but pretty consistent 60fps, looks sharp? I dunno
Any chance you could test roblox games? I really want to get this for my daughter, but that's her favorite and I want to know if it has the power to run something like that or if it will be super slow and arduous? Thanks so much man love your content had helped me pick out devices and emulators
Honestly after seeing your showcase of wind waker i was gonna buy this instantly but from the looks of this that was pushing it hard af, i think ill wait for the 3... i also wanna play the metroids, idk
I cant get mine to run like that. And I'm even using the PAL version. In battle, my game sits at 45ish fps while you're on NTSC (as indicated by the 60fps) at full speed vs Lord Crump. I'm even using the community settings too. Do you have any settings to share that could help?
@@Flyingboots1 oh i love my RP2+ dont infer total disappointment from 1 comment, id just play this game on a PC or an actual gamecube instead. I merely meant that Taki has more patience than I, in testing this game
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Monkey Ball probably wouldn't be ideal to play. Even just a couple frame drops here and there would be infuriating as you know that game brings out the rage in us lmao. Maybe I'm wrong but hey at least you could play the DS and GBA versions, perhaps the original arcade "Monkey Ball"?
There's many having much lower performance on PS2/GameCube than your footage, why do you think that is? I'm kinda mainly getting the system to play those platforms. Is there a better alternative if the 2+ isn't up to scratch
This is the best you can get with any tweaks, he's already brought it to this point. It's unlikely to get any better....maybe if the android was updated perhaps but that would be the only way.
Can you do a quick check with the following GC: Eternal Darnkess, Burnout 2, F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Saturn: Enemy Zero, Deep Fear, shinning the Holy Ark? thanks!
The best game ever made right here

It should be unquestionably playable on the Odin Pro.
How would it get less playable?
Just play it on your damn pc 😂
PSX? You mean V?

This is a mix of camera footage and screen capture.
This device doesn't need to run GameCube. I'm impressed it even runs psp!
I'm just imagining Chapter 5 (Keelhaul Key) with the big underground areas if that would be laggy. But honestly this is definitely playable.
I only care with Zelda Twilight princess, if I can play it at this hardware from Start to finish, this will be instant buy to me.

They don't care.
Honestly it looks great to me 🤷♂️
N64 full speed is nothing new but saturn was surprising to see
One of the main reasons I ordered an RP along with Golden Sun and Wind Waker.
i cant seem to get this game to run, the screen just stays black.

same lol
its supposed to be 60 outside of fights too, pal
its not running as smooth as it should
like imagine if it felt like it was playing at half speed, mario runs slower in the world, things are all slow mo lol
Thanks Taki. Just wondering if you have a guide on how you setup your RP2+. Happy Holiday to all!!!
I will
Can the X18S run this game better than this? Or is it about the same?
Can u please do a test run for mystical ninja staring goemon for n64?? I'm begging u 🙏
I hate the fact that japanese developers tied game speed to framerate. They even do that to this day in some cases... Its either 100% speed or bust.
I think theres actually a patch for this for dolphin, idk if it works with the android version though.

Although, looking at how clean gba is emulated, i think thisll hold me through until the 3 tbh. I was gonna buy the steamdeck but that seems overkill
I feel like I heard the RP3 may not have any better hardware, just a bigger screen. I need to try to track down where I read that.

Change your Emulated CPU clock to 25% or 35%
I'm also using the PAL version, and building on Taki's advice- I found 50% emulated cpu clock gave me even better results than in the vid
you have far more patience than I, i think i wouldve turned the game off after a minute or 2 of it running like that.
really?
like really?

Probably because they use the standard Dolphin emulator instead of Dolphin MMJR2

You can fit a Steam Deck in your pocket? Amazing!
4x the price. Like the Deck, but for that, i rather play on my regular pc.
