Tiborasaurus Rex on UA-cam is one of the best long range centerfire shooters that I have ever seen and the SWFA fixed power scopes are the only scopes that he recommends for solid turret tracking under $700. I put a SWFA scope on any airgun that I can afford to. They are amazing!
Falicy of using on airrifle is no pallalex adjustment it is set I believe at 150 yards any difference can create error In aim point. This is especially true when shooting close range.
I own two spring air rifles. Air arms tx200mk3 and the Diana 350 magnum. Both rifles are scope killers. The only scope that can handle the recoil is the SWFA SS fix power scope. So if you own a magnum springer, this is the best scope of the market.
How many shots have you had it on your 350 magnum? I’ve got the ruger air magnum, which is the clone of your rifle and it has destroyed many scopes. I use an super sniper on one of my long range guns and always tracks accurately when dialing in ranges.
@@jojocaone hello! When I put it at the beginning it had about 800 shots without any problem. Then I had a POI change. I checked the scope and it was working fine, it seems to me that it had some change. So I decided to mount the scope with the Diana zero recoil. I recommend you buy that mount to protect the scope and have zero problems. SWFA SS are very tough but it is better to protect the scope. Use Diana's zero recoil mount and you'll be happy for a long time. Regards.
Last night I sold my SWFA SS 3- 15 x 42 along with my 6.5 Creedmoor Browning X-Bolt Pro rifle. This sale is because I had recently purchased the same exact rifle in 6.5 PRC (like a 6.5 CM "magnum") and my new scope of choice is a Bushnell Elite LRTS 4.5 - 18 x 44. Like the SWFA 3 - 15 it is mil/mil but with an illuminated G3 abbreviated "Christmas tree" reticle, FFP and side focus. Perhaps not quite as rugged as my former SWFA but equal glass and locking turrets - and, of course, US $400. more money. I also use a Bushnell 3.5 - 21 x 50 ERS E/ H 59 retile for competition on a 6.5 CM Ruger Precision Rifle.
Matt, I use an SWFA on my airgun Ibough the 10x side focus but I thought that you can pick up 10,12,16,,20 x scopes on sale without side focus for under $299 IMHO I agree with you about the durability and the turret tracking. I enjoy your channel and the content you provide. I dabble in a bit of long range precision with a Blaser R93 LRS 2 in 338 LM with a Nightforce NXS 5.5 -22 optics. Keep up the good work it is appreciated.
Yep! I was sure that you'll speak about that GRS Stock behind you! I have one mounted on a 243 Winchester Browning X-Bolt "Super Feather trigger", and it's a Dream of a stock and of a riffle. I really like this setup. Regards from France, Phil... (Yes we also have guns here). 😇
SWFA originally was own by TASCO and was bought out by SWFA. TASCO specifcally desgined the scope to submit to the US Navy Sniper division for a military contract, which TASCO won the contract. So because of this contract, legally without permission, SWFA can not alter the design. So one is getting a US military grade scope< which is rated for a Barrett 50 cal. gun. I almost exclusively own only this scope for Long Range shooting.
Really appreciate your honest reviews and hunting videos but it seems you have made the transition to selling products. I totally understand the world of marketing but id prefer the sales pitch after watching the guns in the field. Keep up the good work, thanks from Australia
SS stands for Super Sniper in the designation of this scope. It was made to be an army sniper scope. Handles up to 50 BMG recoil! I have one on my .308 Savage model 10.
The scopes came from Tasco from the start, they attended an contract to the military and got in second place so the scopes never got in production after that, SWFA took over the model and produce them for the privat marked. Amazing scopes for the money. Not many that is even close for the price, SWFA often beats 2x 3x price range scopes with ease.
The only scope the military ordered was the SS 10x42M which was the side focus model branded by Tasco because they were the company who had the contract with the military but the actual manufacturer was Kenko in Japan, the contract was fulfilled by the early 1990s. Two companies imported these scopes after Tasco had some financial troubles, Edgar Brothers in the UK and SWFA in the USA. SWFA continued to develop the platform and added plenty of other scopes to the range, none of which are military used, including 6x42, 12x42, 16x42 and 20x42 all of which came with rear parallax adjustment, only the SS 10x42M had the side focus as spec'd by the military. The US military barely used the SS 10x42M but they did order a lot of them!
These scopes were originally designed under the TASCO name for the U.S military. I own the 16x 2nd fp mil-radian scope. It's a great scope for a PCP airgun (not springer-rated). For the price it's a bargain, considering the construction and quality of glass (not HD), and that excellent mil-quad reticle.
Long time ago I had a Tasco custom shop 8-40x56, was better than my later generation Hawke Sidewinder, Nikko Stirling and Lynx scopes .... much better. The quality (and price) of your scope should match your rifle ... always !
The 16 power with the sidewheel is the best scope to use for Field Hunter target shooting where the max power is 16x mag . It will give you a sharper image of the target for the most accurate focusing for distance than the highest price Sghtron 10-50x60 scope set at 16 power . If you compare the 2 scopes side by side with the Sightron set at 16 power the SWFA will be clearer and sharper ,which makes it better for getting the exact distance to the target . Most people think just because the scope cost 1,300 dollar like the sightron they are going to bet a better image but like you said a prime lens in photography beats a zoom lens every time no matter what the price is . The same goes with scopes with quality like the SWFA has for there lens . If you ever get a sightron scope to review will you show people how the fix 16 power compares to the sightron zoom set at 16 power so they can see the difference ? For Field target classes like the hunter class where you can't use a higher mag than 16x there is no reason to use a 1,300 dollar scope because you are not going to get a better image out of it at 16x . The prime fixed 16 power SWFA is going to beat it every time .
is it coincidental the SWAF bird icon and the Aztec name icon are one in the same scope manufacturer but the Aztec is pushed more for the airgun industry?
yes yes yes. thank you for the review Matt. i own two. 10 x 42 and a 3 - 15 x 42. both has 30mm tube both milquad reticle. Yes you are right. It makes other scopes look like garbage. Yes at same price range at your Hawke but dare I say its twice as nice. My variable is on my .308. 10 x 42 is waiting for my cz 455 thumb hole .22. Glass is absolutely clear. Now your next challenge, please do an episode on the mil quad reticle. possible range cards or method to establish range cards on milrad turrets. keep up the good work. Please comment continuously on these scopes as I would like to know if you have parted permanently with your sidewinder ...lol
Yea these guns are sometimes more than firearms as you can see you can buy 2 AR's for the price of one FX Impact...and the scopes are the same of corse good scopes never come cheap... If you go with cheaper scopes you have to learn your scope how the mills work in reference to the grains you're shooting... W/ distance.. But that's all common since... And shooting shooting shooting as every know that mr. Ted won the bench rest extreme last year because he shot the heck out of his gun and leaned how it was shooting and pellet weight and all that good stuff 30k rounds that's a lot of pellets...
Jake Tonna I will second that. Bought my s510 because of Matt and now my impact. Have been extremely impressed with them both. He seems to be a real honest gent when using and or reviewing his guns and gear.
Hey Matt, I am wondering what dovetail rings you were using on your wolverine in the "mystery gun" video? I've looked everywhere and can't find any that look the same. Thanks
+atiseru I didn't buy everything - Much of it was given to me. The rest was bought using money from UA-cam, so in a sense it belongs to my viewers as much as it belongs to me.
He monetize his videos and anyone can do it too....its a payperview system, higher number of subscribers means higher number of views/incentive or commission whatever you call it....
Monetizing UA-cam vids is getting to be a problem for many as UA-cam is really ramping up their version or interpretation of 1st ammendment rights. Produce a vid a little right of center or get a little to graphic on hunting vids and you are not UA-cam PC. As such the keepers of all that is righteous may demonetize any and all THEY find offensive. Best of luck Matt.
Considering this scope's unavailabilty in some countries like mine, which hawke products do you recommend for fx impact in the frame of the impact's range and price/performance ratio. Thanks in advance 🙏
Guys! does anyone know how to get those SWFS`s OUTSIDE the US? they dont export them, its not possible to order from the EU as far as i know,- I want the 10 x fixed so bad... any suggestions somebody? thanks a million! e.
my name is B7799 from indonesia, I would like to ask your opinion and input based on the experience and the trial you have done, overall and if you are told to choose which one is better between vortex optics viper pst gen ii 3-15x44 ffp ebr-2c mrad and swfa ss 13-15x42FFP mrad
Great choices of scopes! Are the adjustable power worth getting though if one is going to run a camera w/mount as you do on the FX impact in many of your hunting videos? Some how will this change impact or will camera and scope work together? Not sure if I'm asking this question perfectly.Maybe you answer this towards end of video,I didn't get to finish yet.
I just ordered one of these SWFA scopes partly based on your glowing review. Then looking at your other videos I don't see you using this scope at all... mostly see Nightforce scopes. Are you sponsored by Nightforce? What gives?
Matt, lighting in previous videos had a soft diffused look to them. This one seems a bit harsh with lots of shadows especially near the table's edge. I'm no expert on lighting--just pointing out that previous videos had an almost calming effect to them. All good stuff nonetheless.
Hey matt, they're clearing out old 3-15x42 SS line on SWFA's website. Frowm i can tell the difference is that the old ones are SFP and the new ones are FFP. Any reason why i should shouldn't take the $200 cheaper SFP for 20-100m target and some 20-80m hunting? they're both mil quad reticles too.
Good day Matt.Just wondering because I know that swfa will not export their scopes to south africa. So how can we get them here in SA? Cheers from Pretoria.
Thay are very interesting scopes. I have been looking at the horus retical for a wolverine 303 can you tell me your thoughts on this would really value your input
Spring powered airguns have different recoil characteristics to centrefire rifles. A 50 caliber rated scope does not mean it is springer rated. As for the PCP vs springer debate, each to their own. I have owned a few S400's, a Pro-T and a HW100, so prefer PCP's. My brother owned a AirArms TX200, amazing spring powered gun, same goes for the HW97 and HW77. They are extremely accurate and have amazing triggers.
Hey man, which scope (SWFA SS 16x42 Tactical 30mm or AZTEC Emerald) do you recommend for PCP airgun & .22 rifle? I need one for the 2 guns. I'm inclined toward SWFF SS, but is it good for close ranges. thanx
Hey dude, maybe you can do a review on illuminated reticle versus standard? There is no real decent reviews or comparisons as to why one is better than the other or why one should or shouldn't use one over the other...
Hey Matt, I've asked you about optics before and I am in need of a new scope for my new FX Streamline that is on the way. I have narrowed it down to either the Aztec Emerald or the SWFA fixed power 10 or12x42. Most of my shooting is 25-50yds and occasionally 75-100yds. I haven't personally seen any of these scopes but, you have so, I ask for your opinion. I know you had the fixed 16x on the Streamline you reviewed but, I think that might be too much magnification for my purposes. If it was your choice, which would you choose. I am leaning a little more towards the SWFA because I am going to use the reticle on the Aztec, it is going to have to be either set a 9x or 18x so, essentially it will be like a fixed power scope anyway. Thanks for any insight you can offer.
Hi Matt. One question for you: Can you compare optical quality between your Optisan EVX 4-16x44 F1 vs. SWFA 3-15x42? I guess SWFA is better... Im going to buy a scope in a couple months and i can't decide. I live in Sweden and bc of that I propably have a hard time to get my hands on a SWFA scope. I thinking about another fixed scope (IOR Valdada 10x42 Mil/Mil). Or maybe Optisan 6-24x50 FFS. Thanks for great videos!!
Hey Matt, do you still use the SideWinder? seems that you don't use it much anymore, any reason? I really wish it had a zero lock on that scope, without it you get lost going in circles.
+DarkRattle I don't use it much anymore because the turrets and reticle are in different units, and because I discovered one or two quality control issues with the magnification not being calibrated properly.
Did you have any issues with it losing zero after adjusting turrets ever? Yeah I've noticed having reticle and turrets the same unit helps a lot. I wish the SWFA scope's on Amazon were prime shipping though, if that was the case I'd buy it instantly, great review :) The reason I'm asking is because I just ordered an impact and I'm looking for a scope I can reliably use to adjust for elevation instead of holdover without losing zero, currently I have the sidewinder but I feel like I want something a bit better, vortex is always an option but the parallax is 50 yards or more which is a problem.
Hey Matt, I am from Austria and i have a walther rotex rm8 .22, i also like to have a Fx Wildcat but i dont no were i can buy it. can you tell me were you bought it ? I like your videos very much (since day one) 👌🏻 Keep going Matt 😀
I love your channel .I want to do some varmint hunting in my town.its suburban with scattered farms. I want to know if you can recommended a low price air rifle that won't brake my bank im a father of 5 and can't spend a lot and 117.or22
Being active military, I can contest that "Military Grade" is mostly trash. HOWEVER, our optics are very nice. I wouldnt doubt that SWFA is very VERY good.
AirArmsHuntingSA I could never afford a $1000 scope for my air rifles! Hell cant afford it for my powder burners. I do know the importance of having good optics. I just don't think a $2000 dollar rifle should be outfitted with an optic half it's price. If you were shooting a Remington M2010 I could see why you would want the best quality image possible! my two cents.
Value of the SWFA 5-20x declines seriously since you are entering a different territory with too many (arguably better) scopes. Leupold VX-5, Vortex Razor HD, Athlon, US Optics, Trijicon, Nikon Blck....BTW, my friend, ditch those Hawke scopes that you have. I have a few - they track terribly and died after 600 rounds on my Springer. Try the real ones mentioned above.
Hawke started out as a budget scope, swfa never did, but hawke have improved a little bit from their early days. If you get on with your scope then use it. My MTC tracks perfectly with no zero shift and with perfect clarity and won't be changing it for this er so called better scope, its good but not good enough for my needs.
Tiborasaurus Rex on UA-cam is one of the best long range centerfire shooters that I have ever seen and the SWFA fixed power scopes are the only scopes that he recommends for solid turret tracking under $700. I put a SWFA scope on any airgun that I can afford to. They are amazing!

its just sad to see that grs empty
i want one of the old swfa 10x sniper scopes. best scope ever for 100 yards or less.
i have a 10x42 brilliant scopes
it was £130 posted from USA which included Butler Creek covers and a set of mounts.
For the money, maybe. A little more will get you Leupold, US Optics, and other big name glass.

how did you get swfa in south Africa, need advice ,help.
put a nylon coaster on the parallax. i did that on both my 12x42 and it is much nicer than SF IMO
Next scope SWFA.
That was only the super sniper 10x44 built to mil spec not the zoom models
also note, the swfa is rated to handle .50 bmg recoil
For my eyes, on some FFP scopes the reticle can be too fine at low mag, and to fat at high mag
Hey Matt, I am wondering what dovetail rings you were using on your wolverine in the "mystery gun" video? I've looked everywhere and can't find any that look the same. Thanks
How did you shipped the scope, is it legal to shipped overseas?
Hi Matt. Why did you go away from SWFA scopes? Are Nightforce that much better? What one lasts better? Thanks.

Good day Matt.Just wondering because I know that swfa will not export their scopes to south africa. So how can we get them here in SA?
Cheers from Pretoria.
I think the best air rifles scope in the market is the MTC Viper Pro
Saleh Magrabi athlon Helos 👍🏻
Thay are very interesting scopes. I have been looking at the horus retical for a wolverine 303 can you tell me your thoughts on this would really value your input
I wish I saw this before buying the hawke-sidewinder
Hey Matt, how will these scopes do on Break barrel air rifles
I like the challenge, amd I shoot my Rws 34s out to 100-125 yards accurately.
These FWSA scopes will do fine on springers they are 50 BMG approved they are very robust.
Hey Matt I see that your 260 is now fitted with a nightforce, do you still have the old SWFA scope?
Hi man I'm from Libya. I need the best scope name or nombre please
There is no real decent reviews or comparisons as to why one is better than the other or why one should or shouldn't use one over the other...
great review Bro. am looking for a scope to replace my mtc genesis would you hesitate to put this 3-15 on a springer
zero stop shim kit is available for swfa
Which is the best springer air rifle one can use to hunt with
springers suck. the air arms tx-200 is probably the best though.
I have a the super sniper 10x50 and it does not come in!!
Hi Matt. How do get n contact with you?
Would that scope be good to put on a center fire rifle?
1986mrcrj. The 10x was design for the U.S. military. The rest follow the same design.
Very good
Hi Matt! Nice video.

12x or 16x for a pcp? Please share your thoughts.
Thanks
8x is enough in my opinion
Being active military, I can contest that "Military Grade" is mostly trash. HOWEVER, our optics are very nice. I wouldnt doubt that SWFA is very VERY good.
Fx impacte x Vulcan 2 ?
Hello
So r u saying that is better than the Hawke 8.5x25x42?!!
+Adrian Gallo Absolutely
Hawke started out as a budget scope, swfa never did, but hawke have improved a little bit from their early days. If you get on with your scope then use it. My MTC tracks perfectly with no zero shift and with perfect clarity and won't be changing it for this er so called better scope, its good but not good enough for my needs.
arminha da hora em brother rsrs
👍yes
flip flops and man buns are now illegal and banned in SA
They should be everywhere along with neckbeards. :)
+Colby Bowers People from PE and J-Bay can't decide whether we're supposed to be huntin or surfing.
Both most worthy when oneness with nature is sought.
We cannot have these in Australia as they are a "military scope". :( I need the middle man ;)
Maybe mate but highly doubtful.
انا من المتابعين لك هذا التلسكوب جيد
I I'll love the sfwa ss 10x
Best reviews as always! 👍🏻

+Arnold Rix Visit their website or look on Amazon
+Arnold Rix I've put links in the video description
AirArmsHuntingSA, SWFA will now export to SA. I had a 10x42 last year that I tested on my 260AI, great value!
My airrifel cometa lenx from Spain
Thanx
great vid
They had the tasco name before swfa bought the rights .
Hi Matt,
what do You think about the SWFA scopes 2nd focal plane? Could You already test one?
