This is so relevant and meaningful! I've been playing guitar in classic rock and blues based bands for almost 40 years. You NEVER play self indulgent music! To all of us that "GET IT" your playing takes us to new heights and breaks all BARRIERS! It constantly makes me think and rethink about music in general! For that I thank you and cannot wait for more content! Happy holidays bro!

In the finest traditions of breaking boundaries of music, this took me to the Christmas music of Hearts of Space. This felt like a herald of horns to the universe, announcing Christmas! Much peace and a happy Christmas to you, Bill, thank you for so many gifts this year! ✌️😌🎄✨

I don't understand the hate about it. It's an art, that's all. Maybe it doesn't stand for someone's anticipations, but who cares if it's just another adventure... )

Love the experimental sound. I actually think a half note space echo type delay could make this shine… and maybe a low pass filter on the basic sound that opens up with higher amplitude moments. Hope to see you continue to experiment with strange, new sounds.

Well, here you go again, blowing my mind like only Jeff Beck or Frank Zappa do. What to make of this piece? One of my favorite carols, and you set it on fire. Beautiful and scary all at once.
I went to the Jamstik site and learned a bit but I hope you will break this down a bit. What tuning are you in? Which strings does the capo affect? How much of what we hear is the Jamstik software, and how much is your DAW? I love the video!
Benedictions and blessings to you and yours.

Nice sound! Are you using the Pigments VST again? I really need to get my own Jamstik back out of its case and mess with it. I think what put me off on some of the Jamstik was the tracking would fail to a small degree.
The other problem for me is that I also have a headless Ibanez and ever since that came in, I haven’t played my other guitars hardly at all.
I recently brought my Schecter out of its bag and discovered a problem with its Floyd Rose. I’ll have to schedule a trip to a guitar tech to try and fix it again…I hope it can be, hoping it won’t become $700 landfill. It has a Sustainiac in it.

sounds very nice, bill. are you using the jamstik creator software for sound? if so, what preset are you using? love the feedback/distortion.

I am not sure I recall any deep dives on different compression pedals. You certainly talk about them and the role they play.. There are some really great.. and different units out there these days and I think they are essential in most applications. Or maybe theres enough content buried in the channel to create a playlist?

I think Bill usually uses a Wampler Ego compressor. A nice feature it has is a blend control that blends the unaffected signal with a compressed signal. This gives you sustain without losing all attack dynamics. I don't know if that's why Bill likes it...
There are a couple stomp compressors out there with this feature.

Not too sure about some of the harsher, more overloaded sounding tones, but as always a first-rate performance of a marvelous song. Gonna have to research the Jamstick, tho I'm pretty sure I'm over quota for new gadgets as it is :D

Very cool. Like if Jimi Hendrix played the recorder 😊. I liked it. Is the stuff that sounds like ring modulation a by product of the amount of gain, or a setting on the synth, or what?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  5 місяців тому +1

really both. I used a combination of the Jamstik plugin (sine wave) and Arturia Pigments. And then added distortion, saturation, etc.

hey bill: in light of your video on reposting this, could you please answer my comment/on the original video: "sounds very nice, bill. are you using the jamstik creator software for sound? if so, what preset are you using? love the feedback/distortion."

    • @chordsoforion

Howdy! the software synth plugins were a combination of the Jamstik plugin (sine wave) and Arturia Pigments.

thanks, bill. i use NI Reaktor Prism to get similar sounds. i also notice that, as in your video, the sounds jump from the fundamental to feedback sometimes unexpectedly, but if you learn to control it, it can be used to interesting effect.
thanks again and keep up the great work.

It's pretty awesome I don't mind it at all, it's a bit more higher timbre then I would enjoy but it's a really good composition. You look like you enjoy playing that's all that matters. It's purely tonal preference in my opinion. Happy new years I like a lot of it maybe less attack but whatever man

Hello Bill, May i ask you if you can do a video on the most special effect pedals ( 2023 ), A complete guide, witch one are better in there categorie…. Dream pedal board without using 2 times almost same effect…like CHASE BLISS ( Mood mk2, Lossy…. ) / WALRUS ( Fable )/ Hologram ( Microcosm…. ). / STRYMON ( Bigsky, Nightsky… ) / Eventide ( H90 ) / Poly Verbs…. Just to name those there’s a lot more out there, that’s exactly the purpose of my demand / All other like granular effect…. You’re the best do to it please🙏
Let say somebody strat from scratch on whant to make a dream pedal board to experiment sound
Also most of us dream of infinite collection of pedals but can’t afford more than ( let say ) more than 8 or 10 pedals, including volume pedal, expression pedal, gain pedal ( basic one’s… )
Not the most affordable pedal board, but the BEST compact pedal board
Thank you so much in advance.

lol if you watch his videos and just study his videos on frippertronics , you don’t even need all of that. In my own discovery of some of these pedals, I’ve not noticed any difference between which ones I use. It all still sounds like me. I think the videos he has on the techniques and theory are probably a lot more useful because if you can get that down , all the pedals will sound good. The music he’s making is subtle but I can’t just plop down for 5 minutes and crank out the same tunes. Which means there’s a lot more going on than some might credit for ambient music. I’ve not been happy with my own experimentations in the field so far. And I’ve got a Microcosm, an Ocean Machine and a few other interesting pedals. I’ve got a Kemper Profiler now but haven’t messed with for ambient yet.
