7:50 well…. actually ANET said something about the next story update, it was in their RoadMap for 2023! the Story’s will have a “waiting room” of three months, so the next story update will be in launch probably in May
i'm all for exploring new areas in cantha, what i'm not happy about is that it has been one whole year since end of dragons released, so with arenanet not setting expectations with zero marketing on this new patch and not voicing when we can expect the next patch to release, it truly left a bad taste in my mouth as a veteran player who has experienced all the updates in the game since launch🫤 if you are a new player, you have 10+ years worth of amazing content to enjoy so it's a great time to play guild wars 2. if you are a veteran player, you probably are bummed and disappointed with this patch.
Think you've hit the nail on the head here, totally agree. GW2 is fantastic right now for a new player with huge amounts of content to experience but feels like veterans are getting the bare minimum at the moment. The expectation setting was just not there either as you mention.
Hey cool vid! Keep up the gw2 content, we always need more creators! I personally enjoyed the patch; story was interesting and different, map is decent but rewards are insanely good. Only things i didn't like was last fight in meta was meh, story was a bit to short for my liking(but this can be fixed if the drip us more story in-between this patch and the next), and finally the fact that there has been little to no communication or a community manager is a bit of a sore spot. They need to have clear and open communication in order to keep us the players happy so they don't get back lash for simple misunderstanding. A quick blog post before the launch of a patch saying hey this is what will be in the patch x,y,z and then if there is backlash they can have a post detailing people's problems and have an official stance. They can say "due to the size of EOD as an expansion these patches will be a transition period with less content then the quarterly patches will normally have but it will lead to the next expansion which will be about the size of EOD or bigger" there easy enough.
I was very disappointed with the update, such a shame as I was so excited after a year of waiting for new story content. Definitely think that the main issue is how short it is, and knowing we've got a 3 month gap until the next update, during which time we'll just get some audio logs from Gorrik. While I find the meta alright, it's also a shame to have another map that revolves around a meta - there's not really any scope for chilled exploration, would have been nice to have an exploration focused map with a meta maybe every couple of hours or something like that. I think it feels particularly bad given the recent mini expacs announcement as well - even if this isn't reflective of what we'll get with the quarterly updates tied to those, it certainly gives that impression. As you say that element could have at least been improved with better communication and expectation setting from Anet.
Great thoughts here - yeah, it definitely isn’t the biggest win for Anet with this one. There were some awesome parts of the update, but the length didn’t sit well with me.
I am really bothered with people who are saying "it's been a year since we've had new content", but completely discard the fact Anet had to basically rebuild and serialize the entirety of LS1 over the last year too. There were also several sizeable balance patches, wvw reward reworks, and more restructuring betas. Everyone seems to forget that all of this also happened post EOD and I expect that took some work. They're acting like this was the Post HoT content drought and it isn't even close. They did say it was the 'first part' of an episode expanding the EOD story, I guess people didn't expect it was going to be the first 'half' of the episode and expected two full-sized LW-style episodes. Anet probably should have clarified. It was more fulfilling than the little pieces of Champions we got every 2 weeks or so, but it was short. What little portion we *did* get however was great, and I expect that late-joining players who get the episode in its entirety won't feel nearly as unfulfilled as we do right now. Voice acting on most of the commanders was great, npcs were great, loved the Gorrik-Rama banter throughout too. The meta rolls the map over way too quick. Leaves little time to just vibe and explore a map, even less so for roleplayers who would constantly have to be changing maps and waiting for things to be captured. There's also a distinct lact of spectacle in the final fight - honestly if they doubled the size of the Oni and made their attacks more flashy half the complaints would go away. Hoping that the second leg of the meta slaps like North DWC did.
At first I was quite disappointed by the update. The story is really too short (3 instances, one of exposition had good dialogue but not much gameplay, one was a pseudo investigation that utterly failed to interest me, and the last one was the only combat one. At least this one was good). I also had my reservations on the meta, but I've come to liking it quite a bit now. The map is quite pretty, and I love that they included the new infant puzzles in this map as well. One thing to note though, the map is only half of what we'll get eventually, so there is potential to make either another meta (like Bjora Marches) or extend this one (like Drizzlewood Coast). There is also potential for the Air filter mechanic to make some gameplay sense when all is released, because as of now it is a useless hassle. Also, this update released with the last Legendary variants, the Soo-Won variants. This alone has rekindled my motivation to play GW2, more than anything else in recent months.
LEAVE A COMMENT: what do you think of the most recent Guild Wars update?

I'd love to see a video like this on the MMO Continent of the Ninth Seal or C9 for short, In my opinion it's an underrated classic hack'n'slash MMO

I just started playing three weeks ago
Air Filter! It sounds like the dev team just copied mechanics directly from Metro Last Light game into Guild Wars 2 😞
Oh that’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of that one!!
