I love, love, love Joan Eardley's work and have seen many of her paintings in real life so many times. I have even spoken with people who knew her (I studied art in Scotland). I have also wandered the cliffs at Catterline, where she painted and saw where she lived on the East Coast where she did her landscapes. Her figures are amazing and would fit in with these modern day aesthetics. I also have that book too! I am so glad you are enjoying her work. 💗💗
I was so excited to see a new video! Happy new years everyone! Dont you love new supplies. Are you familar with french painter Suzanne Valadron. She uses lots of patterned fabric in her stills. I love your new book too!
Thank you Sandi for everything! Every video you made is for me fun time to spend looking at your beautiful art ! Wishing you a Felice Anno Nuovo from Italy!
Happy New Year, Sandy! Thank you so much for sharing your art and, even better, your enthusiasm and joy with us on UA-cam! Congrats on breaking the 10K mark, too! Your success is so well deserved. I know how much effort and time it takes to make videos like these. I hope you enjoy a joy-filled and prosperous 2022! with lots of love from Oregon! - Tara Kate
Took away part of the manmade gingham pattern to add your plein air River! I've only just found you and that's what the wiggly traverse felt like to my eye! Wouldn't have been surprised in the least if a duck showed up in that still life! Oh maybe it did show up in the form of the pitcher duck shape! Thank you Sandi, you are delightful in your delight!

Thank you Sandi for all the amazing awesome videos…I just lost my husband of Cancer, and your videos are a bit of light in my days….wish you the best for the New Years,,,
Oh my Veronica!!! I’m so sorry! I can’t even imagine the grief you’re going through. It blesses me that I could be a little light in these dark days for you.
Love inktense. I have the full blocks and pencils. I recently chopped an end off each and stuck them in half pans to make smaller pallets and still have the remaining chunks and the pencils for sketching. I am obsessed with them. I keep coloring on all my cloth pencil cases. I love and love and love how they layer.
Happy New Year Sandi. Another wonderful video and another beautiful still life in the works. I adore the patterns and flowers. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished canvas. It's been a great year because you added so much fun to my Fridays. Thank you! Looking forward to 2022. Cheers!
I’m so delighted that you have been inspired by Joan Eardley she is one of my art hero’s of all time. I have have been a fan for ever. I visited Catterline last year with book in hand to stand where she stood! It was incredible! So brilliant your highlighting her work on your channel. I also love your work too btw😉
Thank u for all your videos....u r so inspiring, glad u like your pressies .... spoilt rotten...lol...enjoy your new books ....c u in your next video....enjoy your holiday....
You're fearless and I love it. Thank you for reminding us it is the artist who pulls beauty from a scene. It has given me a new appreciation for my London views. And 10k woohoo.
You’re so much fun. I get excited about supplies and painting too. I love my inktense….blocks pans and pencils! I have not tried them with a hog bristle brush yet so I am looking forward to trying that on your suggestion!
Another fab video!! I am a huge fan of Joan Eardley too, I was watching thinking I had the same book, but I was wrong, lol!! I want to recommend the landscape artist Ivor Hitchens, you might like his work too!!!! After watching this video I find myself wanting the inktense blocks even more now 😊 they are now on my shopping list!!!xx
Hi Sandy, I love your still life. At first I couldn’t visualize the green striped tea towel but after you put it in and I saw how nicely it balances with the greens in the upper left corner I loved it. The red pitcher is beautifully complimented by it too. Great job👍👍👍
What an exciting haul! I believe the measurements from the middle of the level are to find the center of things (aka same measurement on either side). And the ink tense spaces are for mixing or you can sharpen them and add water for watercolor effect. Not sure if they dry solid though. So much goodness! Happy New Year!
I couldn't get into the ink tense blocks so I let my three year old use them. She broke half of them, which didn't bother me because I hated the plastic container anyways. The way you have them displayed in that white tray, and your sketch books make me want to dig them back out! Happy new year!
First … Best wishes for a fantastic and artsy 2022 ! WoW Grady did a good job remembering what you wanted & needed ! That full size inktense blocks are so beautiful! Glad I’m not the only one who brakes those blocks & neocolor 2. Always when I’m in the store buying them separately, they are always surprised when I put them in my full handbag :) Even when I buy the broken ones, I’m the only one who brakes them.
@@sandihester So true ! When it’s not broken or dirty is not loved enough :) Same with charcoal, last week my store was going to throw away broken pieces of charcoal as nobody want to buy them … so I got them for free (4 whole pieces of pressed charcoal). First thing I do with charcoal is break it :-p
I love to see the creative process of the artists, how they compose their painting and how in the process of working, they can change several elements to improve the result and you make a very nice demonstration of this process.
Congrats on 10,000!!! Yay you! I LOVE your painting. It is wonderful! You are blessed to have such a supportive husband, who listens, and gets what you want and need. Go Grady!
Tradition continues. Your videos around the holidays are some of my favorites for some reason. LOVE this Sandi!! And that painting you did of the house with the brush. My goodness! Obsessed!!! Also, please teach me to paint gingham! 😍 Congrats again on 10K!! Wishing you all the best in 2022!!
I think that’s so interesting that my holiday time ones are your faves. So glad you like the paining and YES, I’ll be teaching you how to paint gingham in the workshop 🙌🙌🙌
Congratulations on 10,000 woohooo!!!!...and so deserved. I love your UA-cam channel. I have lost all track of days over the holidays and when I opened my laptop and saw you had a new video posted I was so EXCITED. Thanks for all of the hard work you do making these art videos. They are so inspiring and you are so warm and funny and genuine. Happy New Year and all good things for you , Grady and the pets :)
Sandi, been looking again at your still life, the flowers are amazing, and seeing them again on the white background I have to say I prefer it like that, they stood out so perfectly, beautiful.x
In this video I finally get how you use paintings and sketches as "information" for later art works. My style as an artist is, or has been, almost the opposite of yours, which is probably why I learn so much from you! Thanks!
Happy New Year Sandi. I have used the inktense blocks and then added acrylic paint on top. Fun to mix. Can’t wait till your video next Friday. Love your painting.
The night sky scenes around 17:20 were so wonderful! I remember the Leder Easel review and seeing one but seeing all three was so inspirational! The colors are perfect 😍
Oh, something about your still life painting is reminiscent of Bonnard. So pretty! Also I love Inktense products, but I often have to remind myself that they are not like watercolors (I have the blocks, pencils, & paint pan set). They don't lift off or blend easily. They're kind of like ink. Viviva Color Sheets are like ink too, which I thought was interesting.
What a mega-fun video: wonderful art book inspiration, outdoor and indoor art process, painting, and a surprise guest appearance by Cooper! Thank you, Sandi. Have a painterly New Year!
Hi Sandi, I just found your channel and have been bing watching your work and just love what you do and so enjoy learning from you. I subscribed also. Thank you.👍😆
Happy 😊 New Year Sandi and many congratulations 🥳 on your much deserved 10k following. As always such an inspirational video especially as I was sketching with my Intense blocks just before Christmas too. Can’t wait for next week 👏👏👏
Sandi, I am amazed and inspired watching all the steps you take making so many changes as you go! And the outcome is wonderful! (And for more inspiration my next purchase will be a Joan Eardley book...) Thanks --- Best wishes for continued success!!!
Hi Sandi, I thought your discussion in this video was so important - about how painters, like Joan Eardley, add their own vision to what may look like an uninspiring scene. For Christmas I received a book of paintings by Maud Lewis, and she also made so much of what she saw around her. Wonderful lessons.
Happy New Year!!!! Thank you so much for the video. My favorites are when you paint and problem solve. Yes I did scream when you painted over the lovely pink. Sigh. Lovely painting.
Really enjoyed this, I love the way you actually crack open your supplies and get using them! Also that you are not scared to mix different types of supplies together. I don’t have access to the wider landscape you have but love your still life set ups and how you experiment with them till they work. A question about the inktense sticks, I have the pencils, used them quite a bit till I didn’t, but wondered then as I do now just how lightfast they are? They are very stable once used with water but are they fade resistant. I have not put this to the test….. cowardice maybe! Strawberries, at least where I am, are a delicious pale greenish white towards the top where the leaves are, before they turn completely red and the red at that stage is more vermillion than scarlet…. And the insides are always a more gorgeous colour than the outside, but for that you have to eat them! Happy 2022, can’t wait to see more of your work!
There are lots of videos on UA-cam covering this question. I don't have intense so I can't comment. However I did give up my Prismacolors because many are not lightfast. It is certainly an issue for any work that exists outside of a sketchbook.
Always love your videos. Love your art and thanks for sharing your thought process when you are working. I am loving the still life. I see a feather large landscape painting in the background on the red doors. Is that the large canvas you had hanging in the other room earlier this year with the ironing board table under it. I would love to see it up close sometime. Oh how I understand about the measuring tapes. I have one small one and I love it. When it is not in it’s spot I panic. Lol
Happy New Year Sandi.Great to see your new video.Really love the still life, the clashing patterns look so interesting, great haul too, maybe you should of bought Grady his own measure😉,I bet you still end up using your old original tape 🤣🤣x
Happy New Year, Sandi!! You are such a joy to listen to and watch, and so full of enthusiasm! Thank you for taking the time to share with us each week. That ruler on your level is called a centering ruler. I love them and used it often as a scrapbooker and still do when i need to make a grid or find the exact center. It's easier than dividing :) Maybe you already figured that out...
I love your videos...please don't stop. I love your art but please keep doing both so I can enjoy the process. Its so inspiring. Happy 2022 from the UK 🇬🇧
Hello Sandy, I loved this video, and so many others. Thank you for sharing. I wish you could video and not have to edit too much.... I know it can be time consuming, but I hope you know that it is so encouraging to a newer artist that wants to grow. May God continue to richly bless you in all you do! Keep up the good work! Love it all, Sincerely, Paula
Wooohooo I knew you'd get 10K before the end of the year. So happy for you...I wanted 100 this year and I've ended the year with 300 yay! Love your videos and your art style Sandi. Thank you and I hope 2022 is fabulous for you 💜
Happy new year, all the very best for 2022! Congratulations on reaching 10K! Love your still life, it's beautiful, I love all the pattern. I have the Joan eardley book too, fantastic artist, and a Scot 😊 Cooper is just adorable!!!! Love to you and Grady and the furbabies xxx
Sandi! This Vlog felt like a wonderful Cornucopia of Art!!! I so much enjoyed all the bits you packed into it. You got my juices flowing with this one girl. I was just thinking about buying the Inktense blocks yesterday! I am doing it! I love the still life you're working on. I really have been thinking lately that I wished I lived in a more scenic area because lately I'm really enjoying looking at landscape paintings, which I never had much of an interest in before. Anyway, I could go on and on but I won't. Just thank you so much for your videos and the inspiration you give me. I'm thinking that one of these days I would love to own one of your paintings. They are filled with joy. I wish you a great New Year!!
@@sandihester I asked for them but didn’t end up getting them. Got plenty of other great gifts but still have my eye on those. Depending on what you think I may purchase the pencil set 😊 always appreciate your honest reviews
Happy New Year! I just wanted to comment on the beautiful blue waterfall. The way you interpreted the plastic table cover I found appealing. Then I was like oh, no don't cover it up. And then you did. It still looks great, but now the blue is the sky and the green is the water. What I am trying to say is that all your landscapes are bleeding into your still lifes. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Now to go see what you do next! :)
Thank you for another lovely video. I'd never heard of Joan Eardley, but what great work to see. Have you ever done some dyptich or tryptich pieces? I thought of this because your three night landscapes looked so cozy and beautiful all together. IMHO they should NOT be separated!! Happy New Year to you, Grady and all your loved ones including your four footeds!
Happy New Year and all the best for 2022. Glad you got some lovely art goodies for Xmas as I am sure we all did. A congratulations for 10k such an achievement and well deserved. I just love them and they are art related but the main reason is your wonderful personality. Thank you 😊
Thank you for turning me on to Joan Eardly! Thank you, Thank you! ❤

From my limited knowledge they are not lightfast or at least reliably so.
So glad you enjoyed it Lindy!!!! It would be easy to find out about lightfastness - the manufacture has to share that.
Lol
Yes, that’s the one Paula 😂. It still looks the same - I haven’t done anything to it yet - I need to get back to it!
Happy New Year Sandi.Great to see your new video.Really love the still life, the clashing patterns look so interesting, great haul too, maybe you should of bought Grady his own measure😉,I bet you still end up using your old original tape 🤣🤣x
He has is own - several of them!!!!!! 😂😂😂 I think he just likes to have an excuse to visit with me in the studio 🤗
Oooo red jug has to stay! Hahahaha

Yay for a sweet partner in life who feeds your passions! Thanks for the Friday vid. Happy and blessed New Year to you.
Yes - totally agree!!!
Thank you Betsy! Thank you for the info on the ruler too - helps me understand how to use it better!
I love your videos...please don't stop. I love your art but please keep doing both so I can enjoy the process. Its so inspiring. Happy 2022 from the UK 🇬🇧
I’m keeping going 🤗🤗🤗

Happy New Year to you Julie!!! And thank you!!!
Thank you Pam! What a great comment to get! Let me know how you like the inktense - I could not be happier with them!
I also asked for inktense, but the pencils instead of the blocks! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts after you’ve had a chance to truly test them out
I will be sharing for sure!! So fun you got the pencils!!!
@@sandihester I asked for them but didn’t end up getting them. Got plenty of other great gifts but still have my eye on those. Depending on what you think I may purchase the pencil set 😊 always appreciate your honest reviews
Also congrats with starting 2022 with 10k ! Your art style is amazing and looking forward to your art in this new year !
Thank you 🤗🤗🤗🤗. Happy new year!
That’s an interesting observation Sarah!
There are some great videos out there on UA-cam about her too. I’ve not done a dyltich before.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2022. Glad you got some lovely art goodies for Xmas as I am sure we all did. A congratulations for 10k such an achievement and well deserved. I just love them and they are art related but the main reason is your wonderful personality. Thank you 😊
Thank you Janet for the sweet comment!!!
