People say suicide is selfish, but in reality, it's forcing them to stay alive that's selfish. You're taking away someone's free will for your own reasons.
Wanting to die is very rarely a decision made by someone of sound mind. Those consumed by depression won't always be. Even depression eventually goes away. Does it come back? Hell yes, especially if you're living an unhealthy life. But if you end your life... its over. You'd die and never know how loved and valued you were because your mind was clouded up until your death. I speak from experience... someone who hated themselves for over a decade until finally being able to see the truth.

I think it's great. Some people suffer from uncurable diseases that cause unbearable pain. The device allows a person in that situation to end their suffering and find a quick and humane death. Forcing people to be alive against their will is just crazy.

Nobody chose to be born in this cruel world. Why is suicide considered a sin by God if he himself lets people live through suffering? Those who suffer should have the choice to end their own life as they did not get to decide to be born in the first place. There is really no purpose to life since it would just lead to death anyway. Most people would say that life's purpose is to enjoy it but if you were born in poor circumstances like being poor, suffering from abuse or ilness and lack of love, all of which were decided before you were even born, etc; then life is nothing but a lie.

It's my party and I'll die if I want to..Who said I have to suffer in my later years..I've experienced a euthanasia of our old family pet that was suffering..He had broken his hip and was dragging his body in extreme pain crying the whole day..The vet came over to give the first injection to put him to sleep within 30 seconds then administered the second dosage to the heart ending his suffering..All of this under 1 minute..It was beautiful..Even the vet said that will be his exit plan if needed one day..We are definitely not here to suffer...
This is what happens with people without religion. Life losses meaning and suddenly no one has the will to continue. Even if I was an atheist I would argue against this as it goes against evolution. We are here to be tested. Life is nothing but suffering with moments of joy as this is only meant to be a test, not our reward. Now you can choose to hand in your test with only half of it done, pull up a middle finger and see where it gets you, but I can guarantee you that this will not end well. No judgements here. I think its madness that we allow people to suffer with terminal illnesses in hospice for months or even years to slowly die. My great gma had ALS, she was 98, ready to go - instead she suffered for months before drowing in her own fluids. It was horrible. She just wanted to be done. My gpa had a horrific form of dementia that was escalated - ruined his last year with his wife of 50 years because it mad him violent at times and then regress to a toddler at others. He stopped sleeping normally, ran out of the house at weird hours. It was horrible. We have enough compassion to put down animals suffering, but we don't extend it to humans? Why? It's THEIR lives.

Wish this was available in the United States. We have some of the world's highest suicide rates. Yep. Inert gas asphyxiation is also completely painless, you just pass out and that's it; people who have been involved in accidents where their surrounding atmosphere was replaced with nitrogen due to e.g. faulty pipes and such say that they simply lost consciousness and that the immediate next thing they could remember was waking up. Everyone should have the right to kill themselves through inert gas asphyxiation.

It's my party and I'll die if I want to..Who said I have to suffer in my later years..I've experienced a euthanasia of our old family pet that was suffering..He had broken his hip and was dragging his body in extreme pain crying the whole day..The vet came over to give the first injection to put him to sleep within 30 seconds then administered the second dosage to the heart ending his suffering..All of this under 1 minute..It was beautiful..Even the vet said that will be his exit plan if needed one day..We are definitely not here to suffer...

No judgements here. I think its madness that we allow people to suffer with terminal illnesses in hospice for months or even years to slowly die. My great gma had ALS, she was 98, ready to go - instead she suffered for months before drowing in her own fluids. It was horrible. She just wanted to be done. My gpa had a horrific form of dementia that was escalated - ruined his last year with his wife of 50 years because it mad him violent at times and then regress to a toddler at others. He stopped sleeping normally, ran out of the house at weird hours. It was horrible.

Only disturbing to those who don’t feel suicidal. If you did (God forbid you do) you’d understand how life isn’t worth living to some individuals, including myself. Well I think it’s worth living, how ever in my current state and corrupted mind and soul, it’s just depressing even waking up in the morning, and thoughts like these run through my head everyday for a large portion of it. It would be nice to be able to die peacefully right now, I’m scared of the pain of cutting, suffocating, and other methods etc. Don’t respond to this comment please. Just putting it out there. I won’t listen to you.
This is why I'm a bit against this. If you're scared of the pain, then your body, and deep in your mind, you are not ready to die. Not specifically responding to the OP but to those who may have similar feelings as well.

Bullshit. I have attempted suicide four times, tried to drown myself, choke myself with an extension cord. This is beyond fucked up beyond recognition. This should be allowed to only terminally ill people close to death. Not depressed people.
Imagine if this was available to everyone, and someone told me it was okay to kill myself... if that's the case is this is a corporate execution... legal murder.

@@josephallen8044 I maybe should have specified in my original comment that I think this right would be something available to those who are legal adults, not those who are still under a parent or guardian's care and aren't allowed to make their own medical decisions anyway. There is a lot to this issue, it just seems like many perspectives aren't being taken into consideration by not allowing this to be an option.

The 1 Question no Dr will ever answer: Why should there be a limit to acceptable animal suffering, but not human suffering?
As a veterinary professional I ask myself this every single euthanasia. It’s humane. Why aren’t humans given this same dignity to end suffering?
Because humans arent animals. Also there is no limit to acceptable animal suffering. You just arent used to actually seeing the suffering we inflict on animals in the name of human comfort.

I have metastatic cancer and have been through hell for about three years. If things continue to get worse, I'm looking for just such a painless and reliable method to end my life. It's a fantastic idea and seems perfect for my needs.
