Until at least 1973, there was a Thomas Young Club at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Invited lecturers gave talks to small audiences on all sorts of scientific topics. It was anecdotally reputed that Young had come up with some of his ideas about wave theory by observing ducks or swans swimming in Emmanuel Pond. It's probably undocumented, but it's not implausible.
VERY interesting. Your presentation is excellent. Thank you kindly for your generosity of time and effort. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Thomas Young apart from his key involvement in translation of the Rosetta Stone. Now here's something of interest-at least to me who remembers other lifetimes. Thomas Young FRS (13 June 1773 - 10 May 1829) ... James Clerk Maxwell FRS FRSE (13 June 1831 - 5 November 1879). 3-4 years, in my experience of conducting past life regressions (and also being a subject), is typical, at least for Western people whose life was not characterized by trauma, either as a recipient or as a perpetrator.
Well done. A brief biography of an unsatisfactorily known Polymath. Thank you. I will post a link in Polymathica.
Excellent work. Well written, organized, and brilliantly dictated. I eagerly await further works from Mr. Alonzi.
Rare biography. Thanks for the excellent work.
more of these are needed
Young is obviously a much neglected genius. Thanks for this objective & insightful essay.
Thanks Adam!
