    Great explanation of the book. I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around the concepts, specifically how self relates to self. However, when you mentioned the flood and s&g, an unfamiliarity with those texts were evident, either way... great work overall, got a like from me! I will listen to the vid at least once again to ensure I got it.

    Thank you so much for the explanation! It helped a lot in understanding the book, because when I just read it I felt extremely puzzled and couldn’t formulate a single digested idea

    'if you think Kierkegaard sounds like a pastor, then you're right'😂

    Your voice is so much clearer in this video my man. I dunno if there's also an audio/mic issue but presentation definitely sounds better when you slow down and annunciate. Not trying to make you self conscious, just a constructive criticism. In your newer videos you're always breathlessly rushing through your "Hi I'm David support me on patreon etc." spiel and that rushed cadence often sets the tone for the video. This slower, full voiced presentation is much better, camera or no. Just a note man. Love your videos. Wanna see you succeed. As a philosophy student myself, I know it can be a labor of love. Good luck with everything.

    This is a great video - I was looking for Merlin Mann’s online class but this is good too. Thank you.

    hi. so kind of a weird thought, but hearing this, makes me wonder if A Cure for Wellness took from this in this quote: "“There is a sickness inside us rising, like the bile that leaves that bitter taste at the back of our throats. It’s there in every one of you seated around the table. Only when we know what ails us can we hope to find a cure.”

    Is traité du désespoir ( the sikness unto death) a good book to start reading Kierkegaard ? I want to read Kierkegaard, I've never read Hegel before, but I fon't know by which book I can start. Any recommendation please ?

    the concept of demonic despair resonated very well with me, think a lot of mentally ill people fall victim to that

    I enjoyed that chiropractic reference haha. Although chiro is a dangerous pseudo-therapy or overpriced joint cracking at best imo

    Excellent. At about 45:20 you say "I think it was Lot" who appealed to God not to destroy the entire population. You're missing out on one of the most entertaining and, I believe, literally true passages in the Bible. Abraham, the first Biblical character who emerges as a believable 3-dimensional fallible human, has a vision (Genesis 18) of 3 guys whom he calls collectively "Lord" (KJV) and tries to finagle God into not destroying his nephew Lot along with all the other creeps. The same Lord appears, directly or by angelic proxy, as only 2 guys (Genesis 19) to Lot (himself pretty creepy by human standards it later turns out), saving him & his 2 daughters.

    Yes, there are too many pastors and it is too easy to become one. It was actually Abraham that argued with G-d.

    As Kierkegaard suggests that genius moves away from world history in its own direction, does he mean that the world history is mediocrity?

  • @Christo-Fascist
    @Christo-Fascist Рік тому +1

    Yes, you miss characterize. God is a terrible person for judging his creation when he is the rightful Judge over it. In scripture continuously tells us that not one person save for Christ is indeed righteous. Scripture tells us again, and again that all mankind fall short of the glory of God so that God is justified when he judges all of us as condemned. it was also Abraham trying to reason with God if there be 50 if they’re be 40 and so on, but God could find not one righteous, but chose in his mercy to be merciful to Lot. your snickering at dealing with the Christian material and how you treat the name of Christ only confirms the word of Christ that all men are scoffers and haters of God I don’t blame you for this so much you’re going to be consistent with what you are, but I find it telling.

    Whilst I appreciate the summary of Søren Kierkegaard’s book, your theology is absolutely wrong and thus your understanding of his theory is lacking.
