I was so nostalgic thinking of camping on the banks of the Orange River a million years ago. Brilliant video as always. The fire scene is magnificent and all the music is so spot on.
Wow you guys, I can see that we're in for some super entertainment and viewing! I can't wait to see all your riveting photography and the progress of your travel. I just can't wait for the next Ep. xxxx
@@SoulTonicLife They flower after thunderstorms and I have heard from a mycologist that it is probably the Ozone from the lightening strikes which cause them to flower. Also the earth shaking from the thunder could play a part, I haven't eaten that particular variety but had a patch of Digwane (T. Umkowaan) my lawn that would sprout at least once a year. The variety that puts up a carpet of tiny mushrooms (T. microcarpus) on the ant hills is also delicious though a bit more time consuming to harvest and clean.
It is amazing how the Kalahari & the Namib are natures sleeper. Some good rains and boom 💥 life flourishes with such intensity… Namibia has been showing its best side.
None of us wanted the gritty crunch of sand whilst eating this delicious morsel, so we took care to shake the sand out of the gills and to remove the sand encrusted flakes on the cap. When these guys are sold on the roadside they are at various stages in their lifecycle, the more closed the younger and the more tender, the more open, the older…. And with that comes the natural debris. Either way the omajowa really was one of the most delicious mushrooms we have eaten.
Beautiful cinematography! Makes me want to leave for Namibia right now! Great addition to see the location on screen 😊
Thank you for the compliment. We believe that Namibia is addictive. It offers wide open spaces and an alternative reality that is hard to describe. 😉

1st. Yay! Termitomyces titanicus mushroom. Digwane, Ekoba, delish....
Jaaaaa! Enjoy!
Probably the best mushroom 🍄 I have eaten. Also can’t be commercially farmed so in my opinion more special than a truffle.
