- In this video Robert Francis QC reflects on his experience around the Mid Staffs report and answers questions on a number of issues around patient safety and how the NHS can improve.
The Francis Report was a step forward. Sadly it didn't go far enough and has not had the effect it should have had.
Three example are:
●The failure of the fit & proper person test.
●The failure to recommend an individual duty of candour. The need for which was identified in the Robbie Powell case.
●The failure of the National Guardian programme, which has potential for harm because the Gusrdians are employed by the Trusts. An inbuilt conflict if interest.
