Hey guys! Super awesome and fun video today! Thanks for having us along while you guys were In The Woodyard playing with your big toys 😊! Love watching the big saws!!! Looking forward to that processor video tomorrow! Hope you have a great fishing trip Chris! We’ll see you Tomorrow! Have a great night Irene! Andrew from NB :)
Good episode today,
Thanks for taking the time to document and share it.
G’morning Chris. That thing is heckin screaming ! Look at the carnàge ! Nice action.
GoodNightIrene
I am a retired arborist 62yrs old my backs sore just from watching this😂🥴😖👍👍.
The newer logging echo saws are said to be on par with stihl and huskvarna . I started logging in massive macrocarpa fence lines and pine plantations in NZ with a 661c and 30 inch bar. Pine grows twice the speed in NZ as in its native home. Best job I’ve ever had.
Very impressive Chris, reminds me of when you and Kenny were cutting that massive tree,
Nice! I used to have a double ended bar for my chainsaw mill. It would handle a 36” log. A model 81 and model 88 Husky’s running at the same RPMs
You Guys have all the fun!
Chris are you overcompensating with that “big bar” on your shortcomings?👍TCT
That was a good video. Ripping that big log with that 3120 looked like fun.
Chris...back when the 3120, Stihl 090, and Dolmar 166 were the kings of the forest. One thing I noticed is that after those long cut times the saw was immediately shut off. Everyone I know says to let a saw idle for about a minute after real heavy cutting to let the saws components cool down and reach equilibrium temperatures Just my thoughts on a great video!
…….When you started usin Burt’s Echo on the monster trunk, I could hear Irene already!!!…You see I used her Proctor Silex electric knife to trim pieces of lead pipe ( I have a sawzall, but Sven Karlsen had it, more on that later…) and yes I changed out the cutting blade for a metal one for the Dewalt I had, more like I owned but Sven was holding for me, seeing as he borrowed it 3 months prior, swore he’d be done in 4 weeks, 5 tops!!. So I’m in the garage cuttin away, ( oilin the pipe so it doesn’t jam up the blade and her Proctor Silex!…) while doin such I smell smoke all of a sudden…I’m sniffin the air, lookin at the pipe for smoke, it’s not smokin, it’s hot!, but not smokin. I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn with the knife in hand….It’s Irene!! and I see where the smoke is comin from!, she’s not happy, “ Where’s MY Knife?!!!”, now I’m hiding it behind my back as I say “ I don’t know, I haven’t seen it???”. She sees the box on the bench for it!!,”Whats behind your back?!!!!!!” I stammer the one thing you NEVER say to a woman!…” Now Honey, I Love You, But!!….” She looks around my shoulder and sees her knife and what I was doing!. It’s at this point the woman I love becomes possessed by demonic forces as she starts speaking in tongues and grabs the knife from me!!….at this point I not only know I messed up but, my life starts to play out in my mind!!!!. Surprisingly she doesn’t disembowel me there on the spot, and asks why I’m usin her knife, I explain Karlson has it and I didn’t want to buy a new one, so I figured I’d use this one…her eyes squint in a steely gaze, her teeth clenching, she points at the car “get in the car!” quizakly I say “what???” In a voice even the Devil himself would cringe at she says! “ GET IN THE @$%#€& CAR!!!!” As she’s driving she’s muttering and talkin to the sky’s, now I’m in fear for my life as she’s not only drivin like she’s qualifying for NASCAR, but she STILL has the knife in her hand as she’s driving, punctuating her words with it like a laser pointer!. I finally ask where we’re going, when I look up and see we’re in the driveway at Karlson’s house!. I look at her and She’s staring straight ahead she tells me to get my sawzall ( well more like “get the @&$# out the car and get the saw!”) I walk up on Sven in the garage workin on his truck and say hey I need my sawzall, he goes I need it just a little longer, I’ll get it back to ya…from behind me, I hear Irene, “NOW!!”, he goes “Irene…how are ya?, I’ll get it back to him soon you’ll see..”, Irene still has the knife in her hand, walks up between the two of us and slaps the knife body against my chest, and looks at Sven and says “ I said NOW!!” Sven says he’ll get it back to me in a couple of weeks and the dumbest thing I’ve seen him do ( he’s done alotta stupid things believe me!!) he says “ Relax!!, besides this is mens work here ok?” I slowly back up the driveway…she goes “ I want the saw!”, he goes “No, I’m not done with it yet!” and bends over and sticks his chin out ( Karlson is 6’2,280lbs, Irene,5’6 145) she hits him with the shot of a lifetime right on the button, drops him like a bag of hammers!! and walks into his garage, retrieves the sawzall and as she walks by him, she punks him like she’s gonna hit him again, he cowers in fear!, by this time I’m back in the car, holdin the knife like a quiverin palace guard as Irene throws the saw in the back seat and gets in and peels rubber outta his driveway the last I see is Karlson on the ground flailing to get up!. Needless to say the ride back was in silence and I’ve NEVER touched that knife other than to carve food!, one of the good things to come out of that incident, Karlson’s never borrowed another tool since!. Now what have we learned, don’t touch the knife, Irene’s possessed by the Devil and she has a right cross!, just never tell her what I did with the mixer and that can of stain that had separated, she’ll kill us all….
Thanks! My back went out just watching lol This week Im doing some fishing for wood at a buddies log yard, he said bring your grapple and big saws ...oh crap! lol
Might be a good idea to stock up on some repair parts for some of your saws,,,,with husqvarna going green, might be hard to get parts soon,,already hard to get their lawnmower parts since they started making robotic electric mowers.(that over heat and catch on fire).
I’ve been on the chain end holding a handle cutting bundles of finished wood always wondered if the chain fell off what would happen ❤ the video
There goes the table top....😊😊😊
Chris what wood species and where did it come from?
Tony’s missing all the fun you and Bert are having👨🌾
Its a big maple tree. Adam was the one in video they did this when I was camping.
Maybe at Halloween time...The snowman could hold the 3120?!?!
Mabey when we dismantle the snowman we'll use the 3120 to cut him in half.
You may have to station a helper with an oil can at the other end if the bar.
You could have ripped the log with the 42-inch bar working with the bar near vertical instead of horizontal.
That first cut would have made a great table if you could have lifted and worked with it. The cut went great. What kind of wood was it?
Hi Chris, at the beginning of the video you showed that the small echo was beginning to rip thru that gigantic log. In your opinion, what would be the minimum cc size required to rip cut without destroying the saw? Thanks, Norm.
Most any saw can rip but bigger is better, a 50 cc saw would be small to me a 70 cc MUCH better and a 90 cc saw great. Good luck Norm!
Sounds like the 3120 needs a proper tune. It's bouncing off the Rev limiter
Ok,, ok,, okay. Yours is bigger than mine. I said it. Now I’m going to go cry in my pillow.
can I have a bowl of them noodles I'll add My own spice,es lol😂
Impressive pile of noodles on those long rips without using a ripping chain. More power is always the answer. 🤣
I would need to find a way to mount it to the loader arms of the tractor 🤔😄😄
can cotton wood be split small and "CLEAN" (not stringy) enough for bundles?
ripping chain wont cut faster only smoother on the wood , smoother finish, i have a logosol f2 plus chainsaw mill and thought before i bought a box of ripping chain it would speed up rip cuts but it did not only made cuts very smooth on wood. for pig pens and truck side boards if i knew this i wouldn't have bought 25 ft of rip chain just used regualr chain instead. also rip chain i still never seem to get it as sharp as out of box as i can with reg chain.
Yeah 👍, there fin to play with the down side is having to sharpen that monster chain ⛓️
That Bar needs a diesel Engine. The Noodles would be in the Barn. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I sure hope some one counts the Rings on that. I'm betting close to 250/300 Years.
Thanks Guys.
That would be cool! No it is a soft maple, probably around 120-140 would be my guess.
I could use that saw, nobody is cutting a 80 year old Maple up in my neighborhood 😮
What Husqvarna have you got
The one in the video was a 3120 but I also have a 592 3-572 and a 540top
Big toys for big boys, good to blow the cobwebs out of the muffler from time to time. Keep on cutting
Do you have any problems with bugs in your firewood, i have a white worm i dont know if it a termite or whatever they are, it semes like its only in the hickory, i have a big pile of logs and all under the hickorv there is sawdust , im not sure what they are, when i split them i have to split all the outsides off the wood i dont want people to bring bugs into the house, i just burn them in my garage so it does not matter to me im not wasting it.
For those days when you want to work every muscle between your ears and your ankles
Nice video guys. Big wood / Big saw / Big bar / Big noodles. Looks like fun! GNI
Oh man, here come the "you could/should have used the log" comments..🤣😁👍
Absolutely criminal you didn't cut that log onto 2 inch table top slabs. A little disappointed!?
For the next time ,
How much would you pay him for a dozen two inch or two and a half Inch rounds?
$175.00 each ?
I can get tons of free big wood and I have no slab customers but I do have hundreds of firewood customers.
If that is 3000 pounds of log
And
A third of most cords weigh's 900-1100 pounds.
Might you get close to at least 3/4's of a cord out of that that one log?
We're going to need to see your driver's licence, registration and proof of insurance,
How much have you dad to drink today,?
🚓 🚓 🚓 🚓 🚓
Fishing report
The biggest one put up a good fight. . . . But. . . Got away. . . . It was a monster
😉
wow all them wood chips you could bag em up and sell to people for smoking meats
This Weekend I have a 32 inch tree to fell, and I have a 20 inch bar. (Eucalyptus pulchella - white gum. Dead as, 5 feet from the edge of a high use driveway. Needs to go. I'm estimating maybe 6 or 7 cubic metres of firewood total...👍) Still, I think I'd rather do that, than wrestle with that wee beastie...🥵...😂👍🪓🇦🇺
I thought you were going to stack those huge ripped quarters into rows for boiler wood🤣 By the way if you were running STIHL your video could have been 5minutes shorter🤣🩻 👍🏻👍🏻 GNI
You are correct, with a Stihl, the video would have been shorter, it would have died 1/2 way through the cut.
Great to see the big saw back in action!! My body wore out from watching!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks, you too!
