    The newer logging echo saws are said to be on par with stihl and huskvarna . I started logging in massive macrocarpa fence lines and pine plantations in NZ with a 661c and 30 inch bar. Pine grows twice the speed in NZ as in its native home. Best job I’ve ever had.

    Chris...back when the 3120, Stihl 090, and Dolmar 166 were the kings of the forest. One thing I noticed is that after those long cut times the saw was immediately shut off. Everyone I know says to let a saw idle for about a minute after real heavy cutting to let the saws components cool down and reach equilibrium temperatures Just my thoughts on a great video!

    …….When you started usin Burt’s Echo on the monster trunk, I could hear Irene already!!!…You see I used her Proctor Silex electric knife to trim pieces of lead pipe ( I have a sawzall, but Sven Karlsen had it, more on that later…) and yes I changed out the cutting blade for a metal one for the Dewalt I had, more like I owned but Sven was holding for me, seeing as he borrowed it 3 months prior, swore he’d be done in 4 weeks, 5 tops!!. So I’m in the garage cuttin away, ( oilin the pipe so it doesn’t jam up the blade and her Proctor Silex!…) while doin such I smell smoke all of a sudden…I’m sniffin the air, lookin at the pipe for smoke, it’s not smokin, it’s hot!, but not smokin. I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn with the knife in hand….It’s Irene!! and I see where the smoke is comin from!, she’s not happy, “ Where’s MY Knife?!!!”, now I’m hiding it behind my back as I say “ I don’t know, I haven’t seen it???”. She sees the box on the bench for it!!,”Whats behind your back?!!!!!!” I stammer the one thing you NEVER say to a woman!…” Now Honey, I Love You, But!!….” She looks around my shoulder and sees her knife and what I was doing!. It’s at this point the woman I love becomes possessed by demonic forces as she starts speaking in tongues and grabs the knife from me!!….at this point I not only know I messed up but, my life starts to play out in my mind!!!!. Surprisingly she doesn’t disembowel me there on the spot, and asks why I’m usin her knife, I explain Karlson has it and I didn’t want to buy a new one, so I figured I’d use this one…her eyes squint in a steely gaze, her teeth clenching, she points at the car “get in the car!” quizakly I say “what???” In a voice even the Devil himself would cringe at she says! “ GET IN THE @$%#€& CAR!!!!” As she’s driving she’s muttering and talkin to the sky’s, now I’m in fear for my life as she’s not only drivin like she’s qualifying for NASCAR, but she STILL has the knife in her hand as she’s driving, punctuating her words with it like a laser pointer!. I finally ask where we’re going, when I look up and see we’re in the driveway at Karlson’s house!. I look at her and She’s staring straight ahead she tells me to get my sawzall ( well more like “get the @&$# out the car and get the saw!”) I walk up on Sven in the garage workin on his truck and say hey I need my sawzall, he goes I need it just a little longer, I’ll get it back to ya…from behind me, I hear Irene, “NOW!!”, he goes “Irene…how are ya?, I’ll get it back to him soon you’ll see..”, Irene still has the knife in her hand, walks up between the two of us and slaps the knife body against my chest, and looks at Sven and says “ I said NOW!!” Sven says he’ll get it back to me in a couple of weeks and the dumbest thing I’ve seen him do ( he’s done alotta stupid things believe me!!) he says “ Relax!!, besides this is mens work here ok?” I slowly back up the driveway…she goes “ I want the saw!”, he goes “No, I’m not done with it yet!” and bends over and sticks his chin out ( Karlson is 6’2,280lbs, Irene,5’6 145) she hits him with the shot of a lifetime right on the button, drops him like a bag of hammers!! and walks into his garage, retrieves the sawzall and as she walks by him, she punks him like she’s gonna hit him again, he cowers in fear!, by this time I’m back in the car, holdin the knife like a quiverin palace guard as Irene throws the saw in the back seat and gets in and peels rubber outta his driveway the last I see is Karlson on the ground flailing to get up!. Needless to say the ride back was in silence and I’ve NEVER touched that knife other than to carve food!, one of the good things to come out of that incident, Karlson’s never borrowed another tool since!. Now what have we learned, don’t touch the knife, Irene’s possessed by the Devil and she has a right cross!, just never tell her what I did with the mixer and that can of stain that had separated, she’ll kill us all….

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard 11 місяців тому

      Most any saw can rip but bigger is better, a 50 cc saw would be small to me a 70 cc MUCH better and a 90 cc saw great. Good luck Norm!

    ripping chain wont cut faster only smoother on the wood , smoother finish, i have a logosol f2 plus chainsaw mill and thought before i bought a box of ripping chain it would speed up rip cuts but it did not only made cuts very smooth on wood. for pig pens and truck side boards if i knew this i wouldn't have bought 25 ft of rip chain just used regualr chain instead. also rip chain i still never seem to get it as sharp as out of box as i can with reg chain.
