Litterally crying rn. Thanks for making this video I currently just got out of this toxic relationship. The people I used to surround myself with wood smoke weed and take acid every day. I’m glad to say that I never contributed the most to things that they did. And it was hard to be surrounded by those people and get healthy. I have always looked up and wanted to be a healthy person. I’m finally achieving that goal and watching your videos help me a lot! Thankyou for all you do ❤️ Amber

Exactly! It's an opportunity to see who really cared about you. It could become shocking to know who really did & who didn't. But those who are with me in the past are still with me now even though we're different (non vegans). So, yeah it'll be sad & shocking only at first :)

Well said!! I think changing your environment can also apply to the things you choose to watch, read, listen to, etc. which is why I'm subscribed to your channel! I've found that I feel so much better after cutting a lot of negativity out of my life (like the news/trashy tv, Facebook, etc.) and focusing more on the positive, and that my mental health has the biggest impact on my physical health/weight

Try "nice" cream. you may of heard of it before, but just in case all you do is take frozen bananas and blend them in a high speed blender or in a food processor. I like to add cocoa powder to make it chocolate, or puree some raspberries or strawberries and pour it over the top! It has a soft serve consistency and I find it zaps the ice cream craving 99% of the time! And it's super healthy and Super cheap! Ice cream for a summer breakfast? Can't beat it!

I am a 50yr old mother of 6( aged 15 ,16,17,20,21,31) and a hubby and I stopped eating with them at meal time so I wasn't tempted to eat what they where.. I cleaned out one fridge just for me..I stopped watching tv (cause the food ads OH MY Gwad) after a year my 2 girls went vegetarian(YAY!!) and now 3 year on my hubby and sons are transitioning to a plant based life(YIPEE!) I have so far lost 62kilos(136 lbs)..my kids now walk 3 kilometres a day with me..So it is doable....just got to put yourself as a priority....totally love this video content very encouraging

This is all true. When I was diagnosed with a brain tumer (thankfully benign) 2 yrs ago, I really stopped to think about my health environment and did a complete 180 degree in diet. I was a vegetarian for a long time and decided to commit to the vegan diet. How I prepared my food and what I purchsed did influence my mom, which I am so grateful for. Seeing someone else make changes can really encourage another person to make better and more critical choices about what they put into their body. We both eat very heathy whole foods meals and I have been exercising 5-6 days a week since my diagnosis and am in a much better place both physically and mentally. Environmental awareness is key for health success. Glad you're posting more of these talks Hannah.

I am healthy and doing exercises, jogging, etc.. but I am doing this alone because I really find hard to meet people that are interested in doing the same. I know good people, but most of them are not vegan or vegetarian..don't want to exercise and drink or smoke :-( I tried to meet new people but doesn't seem so easy to find the "right" ones that like all that stuff all together. But at least I am able to do this by myself ;-)

I wish you all the best. I'll start over again, too - I've been on this lifestyle for three months in 2015, suddenly realizing that I am losing weight in a slow pace, then I got lost somewhere. So much has changed. But it is not complex. It is so simple with the right mindset! (I feel that a lot of us quit because we forget why we started really)
      You will do it!

For all the moms out there. what she is saying is true. I'm a mom of three, and the plan was never to change my husband, or my kids AND me. I just changed me. then they followed me. I never spoke of changing anyone but me. which I think is Key*. I just said, I was doing a month challenge to eat vegetarian (which lead out family going vegan). And 2 weeks in, people wanted what I was eating. and now my family is planet base/vegan for over 2 years. All willingly, and now it's effecting our friends. have two other families starting to want and change their diet.

This is honestly so true. I'm 16 years old and live with my parents. Ever since I went vegan in the beginning of this year, my parents had started to eat way better and have even cut out certain types of meat. They're becoming so much healthier and it's such a good thing

This is so true! I live with family. my mom my sister and my son. my son(4) is easy. it's my mom and sister(15) who are hard. I have been trying to lead by example but it is tough. I also use Instagram to connect with like minded people. It truly does help having those people even if they are strangers. at least they get it. I am not only on a weight loss journey but I'm coming out of depression as well. my mom is suffering. it's so tough living with that. I'm pulling myself up and trying to pull her up as well. it's frustrating but I'm going to keep going.

It's hard when the common misconception is that all vegans only eat salads & fruit. I constantly Snapchat and IG story my food, and even my most meat eating friends/family will reach out to me and tell me how good it looks and that they want to try it. A lot of them can't believe what I'm eating is vegan and without oil- because it's so good. My husbands aunt is trying to go more vegan , and she reached out to me saying she was frustrated because she felt like all she was eating was salad. I said "oooooh girl let me come over....we're gonna make corn chowder, chili, broccoli cheddar rice, ice cream, potato fries, and you'll STILL lose weight" 😹

I've been hoping for the last 9 years that my husband would join me in eating a healthy vegan diet and being up for activities. Unfortunately, the healthier I get- the less healthy he becomes. The fridge is filled with meat, cheese, and the pantry is packed full of junk. He gets sicker every year and repeatedly scoffs at my vegan food. I'm at a loss. I'm so alone in wanting a healthy lifestyle. Thank God there are vegan UA-camrs like Hannah and wonderful vegan doctors writing books. It makes me feel less alone.

Hi Hannah! One day when I was searching for weight loss videos and I saw your very inspirational video based on your weight loss journey and i became SO INSPIRED. I have never felt confident with my body. Since I am only 12 years old and 160 pounds I knew that i NEEDED to make a change. I've always wanted to look good and feel good in a bikini for this summer, so i started my weight loss journey 6-6-17 (one day before i wrote this). My plan is too eat only one serving for every meal I eat, and get on my exercise equipment at home for 30 minutes a day not to overwhelm myself in the process and be too tired not to do anything. But anyways, thank you for being such an amazing inspiration to me, hopefully i didnt make this too boring lol❤️

Good luck to you. I encourage you to never restrict your calories, or you will struggle with cravings and likely gain the weight back. Eating is a good thing, and fitness is it's perfect compliment. Don't be afraid to sweat hard 4-5 days a week. Your number one goal should be to speed up your metabolism which means eating on a regular schedule (before school, lunch, after school and dinner), exercising (4-5 days a week) and sleeping 8+ hours a night. Wake up, slowly drink 1 liter of water, wait 10 minutes, have a piece of fruit and sweat for 30-45 min. Watch TV, listen to music, make it happen. After your workout, drink another liter of water (only if you sweat a lot, otherwise drink a half a liter), wait 10 minutes and have breakfast. Get into a routine. You're a school girl so it should be exactly the same M-F. On the weekends, have fun, relax and stay on your eating schedule. Sleep in and play all day. I will help in anyway I can if you need tips. Message me @freedomcuisine on Instagram if you want any diet advice or any advice in general. I do understand that getting up early can be a struggle so your number two goal should be to go to bed at 8 pm M-F. Lights off. No exceptions. You will thank me one day for that life changing tip. Staying up late is the biggest mistake young ladies can make. If you get to bed early, you will feel better in the morning for your sweat session, you will absorb more knowledge at school and you will stay youthful for longer. Have fun and again, good luck to you XO

    • @sallysmith3684
      @sallysmith3684 7 років тому +2

Signs that you are restricting your calories: Sleepy at school, food cravings, moody, starving after school, not sleeping well, low energy in workouts, etc. A good way to get enough calories but to not over eat is to plan out your caloric intake. My guess would be that you need 100cals before your workout (1 banana), 5-600 calories for breakfast, 5-600 calories for lunch, 3-400 calories for after school snack and 5-600 calories for dinner. Stick to fruit smoothies, dates, cereal, oatmeal, bread, plant burgers, pasta, rice, potatoes, burritos, vegan pizzas, etc. Use condiments to make your food yummy! I do understand that your parents might cook for you and I hope that they are on board with a high carb low fat vegan diet for you. Otherwise you gotta get in the kitchen and cook for yourself. After school, eat your 3-400 calorie snack, do your homework and get in the kitchen. You can prep your lunches, make awesome dinners and even prep your breakfasts so you can save time in the morning. I believe in you and hope for the best for you!

Well said and thank you. I’m 50 and noticing the changes physically and mentally that can come with my age. I was very active when I was in my teens, 20s and 30s and well I let life experiences that are bad to be excuses to be unhealthy. Now I’ve lost 10 lbs in the last three months. I was a runner in my day at 14 miles a day, but stopped abruptly due to a muscle tear off my Achilles’ tendon. With the therapy I never felt 100% and I let negative thoughts nix out positivity. I’ve finally pulled back my positive thinking and I’ve have that positive perspective again. Your vlogs have been part of that. Thank you!

I haven't been struggling for the past 3 weeks because I finally followed your advice on adding MORE NON STARCHY VEGETABLES....OH MY GOD! I literally lost weight TOO fast. 10 lbs so far. From 125 to 115. It's insane that I've been vegan for 4 years and it's taken me this long to eat more actual vegetables LOLLL.... Thank you so much for your constant guidance and inspiration - that sounds cheesy af, but it's true. I've also been listening to Mr & Mrs Vegan about not eating sugary fruits in the morning, so that my body can actually burn fat instead of just using the fruit sugar.
Besides oats, my main meal has been: Shitload of FROZEN VEGGIES (mixed veg, broccoli), 2 TBL brown rice, 2 TBL tofu for creaminess & or meatiness, 2 TBL beans, fresh sauteed onion & mushroom, nutritional yeast, lemon, pepper, salt, & topped with a little bottled balsamic reduction drizzled on top. HOLY SHIT. It's so good I never get tired of this meal.
    I LOVE YOU!

I say this like every day to my kids, friends, family and myself. You are the company you keep, and your surroundings affect everything about you. I have done this with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and even depression. I am down 70lbs (most of it was in a year and a half, i have not moved in the last 6 months. in fact i have gone up a couple pounds) I have been stuck for a while and it is the hardest change of them all because I have 4 kids and I can't just get away until I am reset like I did with every thing else. but it is slowly helping them and I know I will be there at some point.

Amen I love this!! I had to change my life and my environment several times over the last couple of years. When I was a senior in high school I pretty much had to stop hanging out with my friends all together so I could stop partying and get caught up to graduate. Now in my adult life, I am trying to meet new friends in places I like to go, gym, yoga, church, because a lot of my friends still live very unhealthy lives and I have a desire to move forward and not just get drunk or high all the time. You don't have to conform and it's okay to be alone sometimes to do what's best for you 👌

excellent content! this is so important to do. if you think you are strong enough and don't need to throw away trigger food, you are wrong! the constant pressure of resisting it means that by the end of the day you are more likely to give in. Also including new inspirational people in your life is so important

This topic has been on my mind a lot the past month or so. I have been thinking a lot about who I really want to hang around and the type of stuff I want to be surrounded by. I want to surround myself with people that make me feel good and happy. And some of my "friends" don't even make me feel happy when I'm around them. So I've decided to make big changes in my life.
Hannah, you have helped me so much and educated me for me to be on the right path to living a healthier and vegan lifestyle. Thank you so much

This is such great advice! Thank you. I just started going to the gym ..I am 32 and I never felt the need to do that until now...I have had an extremely stressful 2 years and gained a lot of weight from stress..and decided to go for it. today was day 2 and I am scared I'll get bored...I am enjoying it so far but gosh my ARMSSSS ...but it is a good feeling...and I am realizing that I am intentionally making better eating choices now simply cuz I cant eat a bag of chips after sweating so much.

YES YES YES !! I've been living through this realization right now and I've come to realize that my job is killing my health. I've worked as a bike messenger for 5 years and even though doing 100 to 400km a week I've constantly gained weight! Because the way of eating (time, amount, with stress) caused digestive issues (and past alcohol and cigarette consumption too) and the frustration of my lifestyle lead me to "numb out" with sugar => weight gain and unhealthy body.
So yes, changing friends, job, living situation is a BIG part of being healthy in your body! Yes lifestyle & diet are unseparable! And now that I've realized that I'm progressively changing my life. =)

I really enjoyed this video. I live alone which makes my home environment very easy to control. I've been the one who my friends see getting healthier and the "want" to join me... but the aren't committed. So far, I've decided to not include others in my journey. I'm considering Meetup groups for walking and hiking though. Those are activities I'd never do on my own so maybe I'll meet new people, so thanks for the suggestion!

That's so true. My boyfriend, I have don't want to do nothing, he sits all day long. That's what I'm doing because I hang out with him, watch tv all day or sit outside all day. I love him, but I'm in my 40's, to young for that. What do I do?

get a gym membership or find some meetups in your area where you can make friends. The thing is, when 2 people do these type of things together, it enables eachother. Because you think, this is fine were both doing it. Once you start being active and hes at home sitting on the couch he will start to wonder if he is lazy and he will follow because he will be bored. Its basic human nature. Get active and live your life :)

Sabrina Martin Find hiking trails to go to. exhibition to see. sites to walk around. stuff like that. if he is not interested at all, be a good role model first. try to be active. if he loves you too he will change.

This is such a great Vlog subject. It reminds me of our psychology & counselling tutor. She held up cards of a flower and weeds, both thriving from the sun and water, nurtured by the Universe. Then she showedus a card of the flower and weeds dying, with no sun, no water, nothing to nature them. The lesson was to learn that we can all be the best version of ourselves if we are given the right environment in which to thrive, that we all can reach our own personal best.
I am soo thankful that I found your Vlog. I, like many others here and yourself, lost my way - sometimes you need a signpost to point you back in the right direction. This video in particular sums up everything for me, it's everything I would tell others, but I forgot to give the same to myself.🌞
