I always love seeing projects at the Old Japanese Farmhouse. Such videos always motivate me to get stuff done around the house. Really like the frugality of the Unskilled Laborer--something that has rubbed off on me.
Been watching your content for years. I like to pop in from time to time because your videos are like a pallette cleanser among UA-cam content. Everything feels so sensationalized and monetized nowadays. I appreciate that you've kept things simple and allowed us these little intimate glimpses into your lives. Those rice paddy plastic walls are so useful. The good people at Joyful Honda quoted me over 30,000 yen for a raised bed so purchased several of those skirting walls and a few stakes instead. Rare win for this unskilled gardener in Ibaraki.
A job well done! Is there really such a thing as a 'bad tree'? All trees are magnificent, but I understand what you meant. It was a tree in an inappropriate place, not an evil one! Thanks mate, I envy you being able to potter around like that, making things better. Have a great day.
I wonder if you could do something a bit with those broken pots. You broken them up and pushed them flat, but you might be able to find something that could fit between them for a good aesthetic? Maybe a mulch or fine gravel? Sand would be swept away, I think. I'm sure you can come with something, but it would make it look more purposeful instead of broken down rubbish.
With those trees being cheaper, Im hoping that they were grown from seeds and not clippings. I've seen a hedge row of trees die at around 30-40 years old. The suspension was that they were from a doner tree, which would die at a certain life span, which the clippings in turn also die. Its all hypothetical. Im open to any knowledge anyone else might have regarding this particular phenomenon.

Nobody sees up there, so aesthetics don't really matter. Just safe easy access was the goal.
I'm sure you'll get green fingers one day 😃.
