I hated him when I first met him. Fast forward to the camp scene where he is given a cup of hot tea and I'm in tears. They managed to create this magical moment where you absolutely feel for the guy and understand that he was never (or very rarely) treated nicely. It was one of the two times that I cried in Endwalker, the other one being THE scene with Venat.
Y'know, they could have stopped when you handed over the crystal, when Seto thanked you and bid Ardbert rest in peace. But the writers, they said 'Y'know what? Sure they've cried a bunch, but they haven't been hospitalized for dehydration quite yet. Let's fix that.'

This scene is the only one that has managed to make me cry like a bitch. Most other scenes manages to make me teary eyed, but always able to hold back the tears. Not this scene. The flood gate opened wide during this scene. And I am glad to admit that.
This scene, at least the first time I saw it, gave very strong emotions, but no tears. The only game to ever make me cry was Lost Odyssey... ...until Endwalker, there was a lvl 90 quest that got tears going for a couple minutes.
I remember the call I made to my vet when my dog was telling me she was ready to move on. My vet was awesome and said she would come over and put her to sleep at my home since it was the place my dog was most familiar with. She passed away peacefully next to me. The first shot made her comfortable. Before the final shot, she looked at me and I swear she smiled as much as a dog could. I always wondered if she knew that my decision wasn’t made lightly and that I loved her dearly. This scene reminded me of that so much.
There are multiple tiers of getting wrecked by this scene, from not affected to mental breakdown. 1. Those who have never had pets. 2. Pet owners. 3. ...former... pet owners. 4. Those who have had to rescue pets from the passing of a loved one.
I personally never had a pet myself (too irresponsible of a person) but I did feed the local strays from time to time, and I love doting on my cousin's dogs, Seto's scene literally crushed me.
It's a reverse of an owner losing his pet. This part killed me when I got to it too! I'm glad, iirc, the Y'shtola bit comes after to alleviate the gut punch that's this scene.
I remember when Savix was already crying, and he was happy that the tears were gone, but as soon as I saw his teleport heading to Il Meg, I knew those tears weren't going to stop.
This may be a longterm goal but if you level up all jobs to lvl80, you get an amaro mount - your very own Seto :) I love that mount. Not only as an achievement but because of this scene that makes me cry every time again - and everyone else, too :D
Aye. And its doesnt have special efects or any other bells and wistles. Just emotional specialness. Also the way to get it is to go on loads of adventures.

This is one of the saddest, best scenes in the game. Like, I legit went back to the "Journey's End" just to rewatch it -- and I probably will again. Shadowbringers is so tragic -- the writing is amazing!

I hope Mike reads the short story on about Ardbert and Seto from the Tales from the Shadows on the Lodestone. It's called A Dream Partnership. It gives you more context on that "partner in crime" bit.
Whenever this particular musical piece starts playing in a CS you know to reach for the tissues .. this CS is one of the most memorable of Shadowbringers for me, such stunning writing
Ardbert, Exarch, and Emet-Selch are the stars of the show in this expansion, and all are connected in their desires, hence why they have the same color schemes, its almost absurd how well written each of their stories are, shame Preach never really resonated with Exarch, as much as the other two.
Exarch and Elidibus felt like reflections of eachother to me. Elidibus is what happens when you let a role consume you to the point where the person underneath disappears and all that's left is the mask. Notice how Elidibus has no face of his own. The Exarch hides his face, name and plays a character that isn't Graha for most of SHB, the role of the Tower's Guardian literally creeping its way through his body to consume him. I'm sure there are loads more parallels I didn't pick up on
@@xenonecromera Exarch Elidibus and Emet and Ardbert are all thematically connected, Exarch and Emet both had schemes and lied about their motives, with Exarch he wanted you to think he was stealing the Light, with Emet he wanted you to think he really did want you to become a LIghtwarden and destroy the first (in reality he wanted YOU to prove him wrong and overcome him and his ideology so that he knew humanity could go on), Exarch's diehard dedicating to his cause is thus his connection to Elidibus, the only thing separating them is time and who is saved, the future, for Exarch, and the past, for Elidibus.
I kind of wonder what the exarch needed to do to top Mike's tier list, I know he puts significant stock in how useful a character is. And than you think.. the Exarch was instrumental for beating Emett Selch, Elidibus, saving the first and preventing another catastrophe on the source, and getting everyone home! He is one of the most useful characters in the whole story!

But immersed into the situation, and understanding that you were actually alone, and then remembering all the memories, hit me super hard. I probably didn't tear as much as in this Seto scene, but I think emotionally the walk was heavier still from the gravity of the situation.

5.3 destroyed him. He cried at least 3 times here. The first one was due to Elidibus, the second one was this, and the third was the farewell for Exarch.
The only time i cryed in shadowbringers. This scene hitted me HARD.

The walk was good, but this hit me so much harder. I think it frankly depends how much pets have played a role in your life.
@@WarMonkeyPlays The walk probably affected people differently. But immersed into the situation, and understanding that you were actually alone, and then remembering all the memories, hit me super hard. I probably didn't tear as much as in this Seto scene, but I think emotionally the walk was heavier still from the gravity of the situation.
Such an amazing scene, it broke me.
this expansion hits you right in the gut at every turn and yet i managed to contain myself until... this. This uncontainable river of tears every bloody time i watch this scene, and tell myeslf "oh come on i know what happens already, it won't get me this time"
Got to this part of the patch right after my dog of 12 years passed away and I think I took about an hour of crying before I continued playing
