I think of that old chestnut of how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The rich get richer because they work at it and seize opportunities when they arise. A lot of them came from impoverished backgrounds and have no desire to return to that existence. The poor get poorer because they either don't try to improve their situation, just sigh and resign themselves to their fate, make bad decisions or have peers who keep dragging them down out of jealousy or the misery loves company syndrome. I knew a fellow who said, "I may be poor, but that doesn't mean I have to stay poor." He now runs a successful business and continues to move up. Poverty can be escaped from, all you have to do is decide that it will happen.

The lineage/racial wealth gap is real, don't get fooled by the self help gurus. A black American with wealth is not the same as a white American with wealth because one comes from white privilege whereas the other comes from chattel slaves which is going to be a different outcome. However, I know it's much more complex than that but that's the average outcome.

The fact that you justify unfairness is absurd to me.
