Hi Koen. Excellent episode. Confirms our return to WCPP this coming June has to happen. Planning well on the way. Hope the opportunity exists to collect the two beers you owe Dad and me. Good work. Keep the videos coming.
Outstanding! I've been anticipating this part. I recognized every detail from Simeon to Wanda and the put-ins, take-outs, and obstacles along the way. Wanda Lake was one of the many fishing highlights during my adventure. The walleye numbers in that lake are astounding! I fished the shoal between the large island and the small island. The shoal is about the size of a football field. Very close by is a small tip of rock poking out of the water that you may have been fooled into thinking was a turtles head. I fished the sides/dropoff all around it and caught a fish EVERY CAST using a golden coloured Shad Rap. I removed the belly treble due to the ferocious strikes that would occasionally tangle it around the fish's face and on two occasions into the eye - I happily kept those for the pan. I also tried trolling at one point but only paddled a few strokes before I would hook up, so I decide to cast exclusively. Amazing! Thank you, Koen!
Thanks 🙏 I wish I had fished more on Wanda. It was pretty windy the day I was there and next day I left at about 5am to make my way to Donald. The fishing is phenomenal everywhere there!
The raw beauty of the Woodland Caribou was beautifully portrayed. The tip about tent placement around the burn was excellent tip, I never thought of it. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! We stayed at the same site on Dunstan in August 2017 - looks very different after the 2018 fire. Same of course for the Enchanted Portage from Dunstan to Ugly lake. When we were there the "seasonally shallow" creek south of Ugly was...well, it was ugly!
Epic is right. Beautiful scenery and nice variety going on with creek/lake travel and portage. So happy you are taking us all along for the ride, and some excellent photography as well.
I agree with Dutch., no need to rotate yoke. Simply tie your PFD or something else to compensate for weight, and add a painter to the bow for minute control while portaging.
Such a beautiful video, peaceful and serene, with majestic scenery and intrepid canoeing. Very soothing to the soul. You bring an much needed interlude of beauty and nature us, thank you from the bottom of my heart 🙏
Thanks soo much Colette! Natures beauty up there is overwhelming! I like to share this so that more people might see that this world is still very beautiful! Too many people take it for granted these days!
I wonder how I might be able to get a few hardy water lilies like those in these lakes? They obviously can handle sub freezing and their little. Love this series THANKNYOU
I also paddle Woodland Caribou park and I am very impressed with your photography and videography. It would be great if you made a video of what you pack with you for your trips. I’ve thought of doing that myself but I don’t have the video skills
@@The-Dutch-Explorer great! I know that was something I struggled with when I first started paddling remote areas: what to bring, how much to bring, how to pack, etc. I live in Red Lake and this spring I am going to start opening up some of the original First Nation trade routes that were used during the fur trade era.
just noticed your new logo and love it! "by endurance we conquer!" that's amazing, I think the marines go by that? Was reading an amazing book by Aldo Kane and he wrote about that. Loved it when I came across it!
Thanks Eze! I appreciate that! It is a quote from Ernest Shackleton to go back to the good old exploration days. I started traveling myself when I started working on tallships, big sailboats, sailing across the ocean when I was about 17. I didn’t just start exploring when I cane to to Canada. I’ve always been curious by new places and especially North. The windrose I chose, I have been drawing on paper since I was a little kid. (like my homework for example) I kight put out a little video explaining my background and what the logo stands for for me some day!
I’ve been flown into and camped on Wanda many times. The campsite due west of the one you chose is one of the best I’ve encountered in the park. The point of the peninsula you set up on is one of my favorite walleye spots. Wow, how amazing to see this excellent footage of one of my happiest places on earth. I’ve recently got into photography as and I was wondering what your set up is, especially the long lens?
Fantastic video. You're lucky to have access to that huge beautiful park. I'm curious to know what month you went. The weather seems nice and it doesn't't appear that you fought bugs. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
I didn’t till later on in the trip. I forget what day it was but not till about half way. And then at the very end I ran in to some people just outside the park, close to road access when I was almost done.
JUST discovered your channel bud. OUTSTANDING job filming, editing, outstanding trip and some of the tastiest looking fish Ive ever laid eyes on :) Super impressed with your work and will be subscribing and checking all your other videos out. Quick question as your video has placed woodland Cariboo park which I was always interested in, and shot it to the top of my bucket list !.....what outfitter did you book your trip through ? - thanks again. Cant wait to watch more. cheers.
Thanks soo much!! Everything is absolutely incredible up there. Woodland Caribou PP has gotten a very special place in my heart over the years. The outfitter you should talk to is Goldseekers Canoe Outfitting & Wilderness Expeditions; www.goldseekers.net Albert Rogalinski is the founder and has become a good friend of mine. He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and has everything you might need there to get you all set up for an unforgettable experience in the park and/or surrounding area. When you talk to him tell him I say hi!
thats awesome ! Thanks so much. cant stop watching your videos, youe one of the best and deserve to be doing this full time :). cheers @@The-Dutch-Explorer
Thanks soo much!! I would 100% love to do this fulltime! So far the cost of everything is a lot higher than what it is bringing in. It is a very slow growth but it is there. I love doing it and I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon or ever! I just want to go bigger and further every year! Thanks again!
I really enjoyed this episode. Such beautiful land. Great videography! *** I have a (editing?) request for you… As I am mildly hearing impaired, could you please not add background music just when you are talking? I do enjoy the music all the rest of the time. The music, especially when combined with wind, water, loon, waterfall, etc. sounds, makes it extremely hard for me to understand what you are saying. Thank you 😊
Hi Alan, I am glad you enjoyed it! I was wondering, have you tried youtube’s auto generated captures? They work pretty dang good. I havent tried it on all my videos so I am not sure if that would help you. It is hard for me to change it with the editing. I already have a crazy hard time trying to find suitable music that suits the video and where timing and everything is just right. Then to balance it all out is difficult too. I do my best turning the volume up and down without cutting the music completely. And especially with wind and falls and sounds like that, If I turn my voice up, the ‘white noice’ gets turned up too. I need to learn to speak more in to the camera. I also upgraded to 2 gopro 10’s now which should have a lot better sound and wind filtering and such! I am doing what I can Alan! Thanks for pointing it out.
I figured that much! I am afraid it won’t happen this year! I have a 30 day solo trip planned, though not in Woodland Caribou this year. I have been extremely fortunate to have seen a big part of the park before a lot of it burned. This Year I decided to explore the wilderness of sister park Wabakimi. I will have to return the favour some other time I’m afraid!
Great Visuals on the Wild-Life! That's at least more than half of the pleasure of exploration
It was stunning! It was like living in a really good book from beginning right to the end!
Absolutely cannot get enough...❤❤❤
Awesome photography and great music to go along with it! Really enjoying the series, thanks for taking us along with you.--MARLYS
You really should win awards... Beautiful...❤❤
I really appreciate the incredible effort and time you put into your excellent productions.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Thanks Trooper! I appreciate that! Its a pleasure!
Great job showing post forest fire safety! That tree was holding on by a thread 🪡 Thanks for sharing!
You’re very welcome! You wouldn’t believe how many trees I’ve heard fall over at night!
Thank you for sharing this amazing journey
Good to see the beavers are keeping busy. Lovely remote location nice music

Souis River Quetico 16 ft. They took the back seat out to make more room. But they didn't rotate the yoke! Really enjoying this Thank you.
There was no need to turn the yoke around, it was well balanced to my liking! Im glad you’re liking it!

Great trip so far. The scenery is just incredible! Looking forward to the rest.
I love creek travel as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It is soo much fun! A little more creek travel to come in the next episode!
I’m glad to see the “seasonally shallow” wasn’t too bad. Those ticks are relentless, I’ve found one attached to me on every trip.
Yes, I think Ive had one or two every day last year. The creek was amazing, though I was hoping to see more wildlife there.
@@The-Dutch-Explorer The Red Tailed Hawk was very cool to hear and see. We watched one on Mexican Hat at the falls.
Yes! He was a very neat looking one being so dark and so fluffy and white in the legs!
Great video! Can’t wait for the next one.
