I did my cardio yesterday Sam.
I took up basketball to do my cardio and motivate me not to skip leg day, lost 25lbs and hit my first dunk after only 4 months of playing while going super hard with jump squats. Use Sams vids as part of a mental routine.

I agree with the "maingaining" thing.
I think it applies to the average person the most, because the average person is not fit, they will get in shape doing some exercise and some dieting in some time. For more advanced lifters of course bulking and cutting will be better once platoed. Just keep in mind to not gain too much fat, because if your cuts are really aggressive and you're not on PED's then you'll lose a ton of muscle mass instead of mostly fat

Just genetics. For most guys it's unsustainable to look like that when you're older. Unless you have good aging genetics like Jay Cutler, Flex Wheeler it's smart to retire as early as possible.
