Personally, I have made some decent looking 30k Consuls with nothing but a Sternguard Veterans box and some spare parts from a Betrayal at Calth box. The legs are great with the Mk 4 torsos and some parts like the sword arm look really good for a Delegatus! Also, the stylised bolters are much better for Seekers.
I'll post them to the Salt Mines if you're interested Macca.

Sorry for the depressing comments...ive recently lost job and girlfriend (sounds like a bad country/western song) and had to downsize a 23+ year collection of wargaming miniatures/terrain to get rent paid and fit into shitty apartment. I tried to just stay with my budding 30k/HH collection as I have room for it AND also my favorite (she's probably would've tossed it out too (like a good portion of my f'ing colonial/Zulu war Brits) watching your videos/ listening to your suggestions on 30k in general is about all I've got to keep from getting back into heroin again after 5 clean years! It's ridiculous I know, but your enthusiasm/ love of theb30k universe and modeling/painting my figures is a hugely substantial part of what helps me stay sane& dope free. It's a pitiful state truly- but THANKS so much for what you do. Hope you feel better soon! Maybe I'll find a gaming group (in the local bus routes area) now that I've got the time, but this hobby has become so much more important lately! Thanks Macca- keep up the GREAT work!

Saw a showcasevideo on youtube with a guy who had an oldschool Sons of Horus army from before the books came out, grey armour and all, he used a converted Cato Sicarius as a preator where he had taken of all smurfsymbols he could find. Looked surprisingly good

I personally use a lot of mars pattern kits for 30k. I do whatever I can to make them look more period, but FW is expensive and the mars pattern was in use. I know they were more rare but begars can't be choosers.
For my emperors children I picked up an emperors champion to run as a praetor to go with my converted up masters of the legion command squad.
I do it the other way - use 30k in 40k:
Primarch Corax as Blood Angels flying Librarian Dreadnought
Primarch Russ as Space Wolves dreadnought Murderfang
Javelin Speeder (with additional Assault Cannons and sword) as Dark Angels Talonmaster
Mor Deythan as space marine Scout snipers with camo cloaks
Dark Furies as Captains/Lieutnants with Jump Packs etc etc.

This is awesome. I been updating my old dark angels as i never painted them but I hated the the bolters so i hate been taking off all there arms and heads and using MK III, IV, V and VI heads. This gives me some more ideas. TY

My RG HQs are entirely plastic . Vigilator was built from plastic scout missile launcher marine. Chaplain was heavily converted BA chaplain with jump pack. HQ was made from RG jump marine from the death watch box set. Preator on foot was made from Calth bits and Anvil bionic legs.
Do note that Indomitus Pattern Tactical Dreadnought armor was used commonly in the Heresy.
Used commonly? I wouldn't go that far, it was really an Imperial Fists thing.
I used a model out of the Dark Vengeance Set as a librarian for my Word Bearers. It was the guy with the chaos thunder hammer and he was holding his helmet.
Actually gets some attention whenever people see it. Sucks that he’s never been in a game.
I love that model and he'd be on this list too if he wasn't only available in a large boxed set (except for aftermarket sellers)
I used him as a dark apostle for a bit , great model !
Macca thanks you for the idea for a Moritat for my Heresy 1stlegion. I did exactly like you stated, replaced the power pack with a mark 4 one, which fits perfectly, no putty or green stuff needed. I also painted the claim Caliban green to give it a little but of a difference from 49k Cypher

Super late, but purity seals are descended from the Oaths of Moment that many Marines would do during the great crusade. That's the big reason I've never had too much of an issue with purity seals in 30k. Obviously they don't have nearly as many, but a few spattered through the force has never been a big issue imo. I have one of my Sons of Horus Sgt's who I have one on, because during a narrative game he stood his ground against a squad of dark angels for 2 rounds until he was reinforced. Now he has a title plaque on his base with the nickname "Wing Breaker" and his oath of moment to kill as many dark angels as he can just because it felt like a cool bit of customization with a cool in-game story.

Bronchitis! That's my ailment apparently.
No fun...just did a quick search and bronchitis sounds very crappy. Rest up - you seem like a high-energy guy with fingers in a lot of pies. My brother is similar in that he is a manager, a performing musician, social and shares a love of my Tabletop of hobby-related stuff such as 40k and Call of Cthulhu. Not a lot of downtime but when he gets sick, though, his body rebels hard and he is down for the count.

Can i use generic chaos space marines in 30k alongside emperor's children & word bearers? And can I use 40k khorne berserkers alongside 30k world eaters?
I think using classic 40k models for 30k should represent the Siege of Terra and The Scouring Conflicts. For the Imperium this is when Mark 7 Aquila patter power armour made its widespread adaptation and usage. For Chaos this is when the Traitor Legions were now fully twisted by the Dark Gods and can no longer hide their physical corruption.

Those aren't purity seals. That's the equipment operators in 30k get maintenance work order requests to the Techmarine.
This is a damn good video. But in five years time GW has discontinued quite a bit of the 40k items mentioned within. Still useful because you can just buy most of the models elsewhere.
Any chance we can get a 2023 p2 3? Basically a review of the last 5 yrs of best 40k releases that will do?

Indeed, but the mold must be in terrible shape, judging by the box I bought last year, so I doubt that they'll be around for much longer.

Your point is obviosly valid, I was just saying that the berserkers have their own problems and might get an update sooner rather than later.

Instead of using the expensive Sigismund from FW you can use the very cheap Emperor’s Champion (£13) instead.
Love your videos, but I think that the Marneus and Tigurius models (amongst some of the masters of the chapter) are in mark VII armour. I don't think that Mark VI has the front chest plate covering the three power cable thingys...
They have MK VI bodies but MK VIII chests. But as far as it goes you can pass it off as 'stylised' chest plates for 30k.

for the Cypher into a Moritat: why not swap the pack, but keep the sword as a power sword?
If your Moritat is in combat, you're doing it wrong!

What’s with 30k and purity seals? Even though I don’t know much about 30k I’d think that a chaplain of all marines would have atleast one seal.
No, purity seals are a 40k thing.
30k marines simply aren't religious, therefore no purity seals.

The chaplains are ment to keep the psychers in line. It has nothing to do with faith.
He isn't blessing anything, that was a function, that they adopted later.
You're 100% right about chaplains in 40k, but as most things in warhammer 40k, they weren't intended to fulfil that role back in 30k.
Huh I that’s interesting. I thought that like in 40k they were on the battlefield to do three things 1 beat enemies with a pimp cane, 2 look like the craziest mf on the scene and 3 talk real loud but I guess I was only partially wrong.
@@independentconfederate6604 they do indeed all these things, the only real difference is, that they're more fanatical/religious in 40k.
Therefore no purity seals. They weren't really a thing in 30k. Well except with the word bearers... maybe.

I play Space Mutts and hate Forge World because I live in Australia. I'd be hard pressed to find a model in my army that hasn't been kitbashed in some way, even my Grey Slayers while straight out of the Burning of Prospero set have greenstuff pelts and embossing.
