- On this episode we review the 4 heroes from Hasbro's new Real Ghostbusters Kenner Classics line. Jay does a through review side by side with the original figures and card art, to show you what really separates these figures from the originals!
CAN'T SAY HOW MUCH, above all my toys back in 1989, loved those four ones in particular. Wonderful how your kids adore them as well.
I try not to push my fandoms on them, but when they get enthusiastic on their own, its such a joy to share it with them.
Its funny to see how much better the production values on videos have gotten from Jay but still enjoy this video!
Slimer & puff are huge. I have toilet , eyeball dude & ecto 1 on order. These r cool . Great addition to a collection minus the vintage price

When i was a kid i liked the little ghost that came with them more than the Ghostbusters themselves so much i still have all the little colored ghost that came with them super cool

I had these original Ghostbusters back in the day for like a year before I guess they got thrown away for the newest toy. I had been hoping the past 10 years they'd reissue these. And since I only buy sealed on card figures, I was recently looking at spending the $200 or whatever it was on an original sealed figure. And to my surprise they announced that they were recreating these. Really glad I never bought an original as I think I'll be fine with these even though I wish they were more exact to the original.
Mate I already had original Egon but had to buy from ebay remaining 3 plus all bits. Glad I did in the end

J ellowpy yea they are not I spoke this past Friday and Hasbro pulse told me they are not unless things change they would let the fans know. I have someone helping me out from the us to get some but that’s the only way I know but I’m hoping things change to make it easier for us here!

Feels preposterous to complain about these figs. Having said this...Winston was my guy and I’m bummed it’s different after they pretty much nailed peter. I mean I still bought 2! I suppose I will have to track down the originals since there are some clear discrepancies.
I think its cool that its actually is closer to the prototype version which is awesome.

My Walmart said they will not receive these figures until May 21st and it will be a very limited supply. Only 4 are scheduled to be delivered that day. I fear its going to be hard to find these in my area (Pittsburgh, PA).
In my local North Carolina toy groups they are showing up fairly well. 2 of each. Fingers crossed it will get better where you are!

Awesome comparison review! Also,cool to see your children having as much fun as you probably did with them when you were a kid. They weren’t on the pegs yesterday when I went to look but,I hit up an employee and sure enough,they had a case in the back. So yeah, I’m glad I asked😀

Glad you got them! Street date was the same as the Kenner Classics figures, April 26th. But no one has seen them in the wild yet.

The one question I've had since I was a kid was why is one of Winstons hands balled into a fist where the others aren't???
I ordered a Winston the other day and am waiting on him to arrive in the mail. I'm a bit disheartened to realize they are not a 1 to 1 recreation using the original molds. I was so excited to get one of these because as a child I can remember starring at them on the rack and dreaming of owning one. By the time my parents bought me one they had already moved on to the Fright Features figures which were less than desirable, and my dream of owning a wave one figure was dashed as a kid. I still was grateful for my Fright Features figures though lol. Anyway, this was my chance to own a 1 to 1 recreation or so I thought. I still love that they are doing this, just a little disheartened by the design decisions is all. Great video.

EDF Central It's quite possible that the original molds are lost or worn out. Look on the bright side, they are very close to the originals and are as close to a direct reissue as we're likely to get :-)
@@M.H.I.A.F.T. Your exactly right and for that I am grateful. On another note, back in 97 Kenner re-released four of the original star wars figures from the 70s and 80s line. On the package it stated that they molded the reissues from the original figures themselves. The molds were apparently gone at that point so they made new molds using an actual retro figure. So its possible.

Wow. I kept most of my toys but sadly got rid of alot of my ghostbusters stuff I am most sad to have gotten rid of my ecto 1. I think I they released another ecto 1 I'd have these in a heartbeat.

I don't like the different colored streams. I'd have preferred them to have been all yellow. I may buy extra Winstons and put his yellow stream backpack on the other figures.
Yeah it would be neat for someone that does 3d printing to make accurate streams for them.

Those sculpts are recreated from the prototypes. At least Winston is. No recasting, straight up new scults. Some areas are garder sculpts than the og ones, others are softer. These def aren't going to be mistaken as the originals. At least by fans and collectors lol. I find it cool we badically got figures of the prototypes.
Yes I completely agree! The Winston head sculpt was a real nice surprise after looking at the prototypes for 30 years! lol
@@GeekDadLife i haven't opened mines yet, but looked at the Winston again. And mines head is looking forward. Im wondering if they are variants throughout the line. Ima have check the second winston if its still at the store lol
@powerturtlebustersfigurere5230 I've noticed a variant of Egon's gulper ghost. Some of them are a more see-through yellow, and others are a more cloudy brighter yellow that is closer to the original gulper ghost that came out in 86/87. It's probably not a variant made on purpose, it's most likely just a different dye in the plastic that caused it, but I have carded examples with the different gulper ghosts. I also noticed that some of the Kenner classics figures have more color in their proton streams, and others are more dull or faded looking colors.

My only guess was the way it was packed in the shipper box? It held them in place more? I really dont know.

Thank you! And the streams are not easy to take out. The wand is glued together around the stream. So you'd have to crack that to safely get the steam out.
@@GeekDadLife You're welcome! And ok, darn it! I came across this customizer, who is doing really cool proton packs and accessories for the original line, including the ecto-1, and more. He has made really cool proton packs and proton streams, as well as the slime blower, for a real ghostbusters figure....and more! With these new releases, it's a much different smaller connector on the back of the figures, so not sure if they will work with them. Anyway, his website is below.

Powerturtlebusters mentioned that bubble size being different for winston pack in his video. Also the art is different. Def redrawn card art.
Yeah it's def a digital recreation of the original artwork and the sculpt.
I'm guessing it must be a major pain to just recreate them like they did back in the day. You know they probably still have the original assets, but may be lacking the original manufacturing equipment to recreate them is my guess.
Wish i knew about these. Can't find them anywhere.

I have a question was Stay Puft and Slimer released yet in Walmart or it's just a four figures of the regular Ghostbusters
The Stay Puft and Slimer are showing up in Walmarts as well, just not as much yet.
They probably used the prototypes as the base of the new ones. I want green version of these and a Jeanine

They probably took the original art image and rasterized it to make it vector art and that’s why it’s a little off.

They are a walmart exclusive. So far Wally worlds are only getting one box that has 2 of each hero figure in a box. So hopefully more shipments are on the way...

Any Kenner Figure stand will work so star wars through their batman line. I really like star stands which you can find on eBay in large lots. I would go with the larger base for the GB figures.

Yea, these def aren't replacing the originals. No worries for collectors. Basically new rgb figures.
I think they def made the right choice by making these essentially new figures.
@@GeekDadLife now for em to to make them with added articulation. Like how they did the gi joes destro. Original design just updated. Nothing too extreme of change.

Are the card backs the same size as the original
They are slightly larger than the first release cards that they're based on, but they are the same size as later RGB cards like the power pack heroes and ecto glow.

Are these just a one time thing or will they continue with this series?
As of now its a one time thing, I would say if these are super successful they may do more.

Nothing quite like the Walmart blank stare when you ask them for anything out of the norm. Or you could be me asking them about the Stay Puft that the online app said they had in stock and the lady without even thinking about what I'm asking just instantly going "nope nope, ain't got nothing like that back there." Well the app says you have them in stock. "Go up there to the check out lanes and look by the baseball and YuGiOh cards. Might be there." At that point I realized they don't give two shakes of a stick to even help me out by looking in the back. So I just walked out.

Nothing confirmed with Hasbro. All of these toys are to promote Ghostbusters Afterlife. So if the movie is really successful, then I could see more stuff to come.
And there's less harmful unregulated plastic poisons emanating from them, as opposed to the originals...
Hasbro is starting to lose me with these simple QC issue that should be caught at the factory.. I just got the plasma series ghostbusters and I love them but they are definitely not without QC issues too very disappointing
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt do to covid issues, but it is a bummer.
