Wave Over Wave (closing song), Alan Doyle, Churchill Park Music Festival (Friday), St John's NL

The first time I saw GBS perform Wave Over Wave live, what I was thinking while watching Alan sing it was that he was singing about himself, about his own life on the road and in the music biz. I knew it was a NL folk song (thank you, Jim Payne) and I also knew I did not know Alan well enough to be so thoroughly convinced of his self-singing; nevertheless, I was convinced.
More than 22 years later, I remain convinced, more so each time I have ever seen him sing it, once again on this night at he sang it yet again to close out his set at his Welcome Home Tour Home Show (while also opening for Shania Twain) before more than 15,000 Hometown locals, who were of course singing along with him ,as well as lighting up the sky for their own Singing Sailor.
There's no other life...
