This Texas ice cream shop was on its last legs until the community stepped up to keep it in business

- Mr. Martin's days of creating smiles in the community he loves almost came to a halt recently when Hurricane Beryl tore through Southeast Texas.
You can buy icecream from the grocery store but you can't buy the experience of taking yourself and your family out for a summertime treat to the icecream shop where everyone gets to choose their own favorite flavors! This is what makes this town so special. ❤️😊🍦
The sweet memories ❤
Right....I will always have the memories of my dad spontaneously calling out ice cream time and that meant that my sisters and I would hop in the car and dad would drive to the ice cream shop. 2 scoops of ice cream in a cone and we would just sit on the bench in front of the shop and enjoy the summer evening.
Yes we did this a lot when I was a kid. A nickel bought a kid's size ice cream cone or scoop and a dime bought nearly twice that. Memories of America before corporate greed devoured so much of it. I don't patronize chain establishments.
Oh you nailed it
if this don't say that this business sells some TASTYY ice cream, that the community will come together and help make sure it don't close down..... i dunno what will.
Blue Bell missed the opportunity to be the good guys instead of making a statement that they couldn't care less about their customers. Shame on Blue Bell for not being supportive.
I only buy Tillamook.
To be fair
Blue bell probably didn't even knew
All of restaurant and some grocery stores use a food distribution to ship their products, or to stored them temporary if they have too much supply
Whatever the company was
Guarantee it was a multi-billion dollar company
Sysco, US foods, McLane,
I'm not defending anyone
I don't even like ice cream
Just giving some facts
They know now... Have they responded?... NOPE
@@elephant1992 You don't like ice cream!!!???!! WHAT the WHAT!!!!??? 🍦🍦🍦🍦
@@TomSmith-ls5rn Ya, I rather have a Dr Pepper to be completely honest
This is the real America at its best. Neighbors helping neighbors. God bless the community.
yeah because you could open an icescream shop after selling some icecreams on the beach on a city boulevard BACK THEN
try that now, you can't, his place would cost 500.000 at LEAST right now maybe even 1.000.000-2.000.000 main street space for commercial puroses
@@saibamoe Just be happy that his ice cream business didn't go out.
@@darkus5618 how long will the save last?
if it wasn't making money before, was it good?

Hats off to this community for rallying together to save the ice cream store! These are the stories I want to see! I want to see all of us being good to one another! I love my Texas and it's people!!
If these are the stores you want to see then start shopping at places like this, stop buying from big box stores, but you only like these places enough to just comment and you will continue to shop at big box stars
@@mattcampbell3876 Or, maybe you're just a jerk and can't stand seeing people support people. Maybe you only like coming to videos just to comment negatively and you will continue to shop at the big box stores yourself.
Im glad christy and the community was able to help.
Kristy, you are the closest thing to a real life angel. I hope people support your business just as passionately.
Thank you for a good story.
Im so glad his business was saved !!!!! There are decent people in the world who care about others 🥰
Wow, in an Era where small businesses are being forced to close - impacting the community negatively. It's nice to hear about a community rallying to help support and keep a small business open!!!❤❤❤😊
Dems are to blame for small business closures.
That's awesome. The reason I live in a small texas town . He's about 35 miles from me . I will be going to get a scoop or two soon .
I am in Canada and will never get to have one at his shop, please have the second one for me!
This what the world needs, people helping people,
Brought tears to my eyes.....wonderful story.
Thank you for the experience Mr. Martin. Bless the community for helping him and his shop. The good old day shops are the best and should be protected.
A true AMERICAN serving is community !!!🇺🇸👍🏼
I wish you could hear a lot more stories like this.
Now this is a community and others coming together to help one another. This is us. 😊. This is American people. Thank u for sharing a good hearted story. God Bless us all

Thank you Christy and the community.. I bet everyone is so happy.. the Greatness of America shining bright! 🇺🇸
I melted when I saw this story.Awesome people still exist!!!
This show’s the heart and soul of our country our people!
Im not from the us but i wish that mr martin from texas the best of luck. He seems like an honest , hard-working man!
Also, very nice to see the community helping out!
Hugs from Argentina!
If his distributor is directly Blue Bell, shame on them for not recognizing the business value of a dedicated, long-time physical store that's basically a consistent, no-cost promotional ad for their products. $3k+shipping/handling would be such a great return on investment.
This dude proudly sells blue bell, even has a sign on his door and his hat but when he needed them they said SOL!
I would look for another supplier if i were him…..
This is how it should be. I want to give this man a hug ❤
That is what small town America is supposed to be your community rallying around you in the time of need not to give you a hand out just to give you a hand up that's why I would prefer to stay in small town America versus a big city you just have a better sense of who you are in a small town you have a better sense of who your neighbors are their struggles are your struggles and your struggles are their struggles❤
Love Y’all ❤️✝️👍 Texas best state in the country. Boy what do I wish that other states can Learn from our Texan hospitality. GOD BLESS 🍀💯✝️🇺🇸❤️
What a blessing to our community!
The best part of growing up in a small town is that people who live in them help each other out
That's so sweet!
That is a community that cares about each other. Thank you all.
God bless him ❤
No matter where youre from seeing people caring and helping each other when someone is in need is what matters. I'm so happy for this man and his community!
My husband and I loved going in and visiting as well as grabbing a ice cream. Great guy!!!
This is what we need more of in towns and cities across America❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not even from texas but i love these stories
Lovely story & lovely lady who helped out & all those who also contributed, May the Good Lord bless all of you.
awesome, texans rock!
Awesome this just shows there are good people out there, and they rallied together for this man, and kept the Ice Cream Shop A FLOAT
What a lovely story well done all of you that helped this man. Made my eyes water.
This is what America is all about helping each other. Forget about these foreign countries that dont give a damn about us lets help our fellow american neighbors and enrich our communities
The Blue bells ice cream factory right down the road. You think with a long time contract/free advertising for blue bells they would throw some free ice cream it’s cheap.
Really surprised Blue bell didn't step up.
So sweet and nice thank you for helping this man out 😊❤
One of the best things in life you will remember is the small mom And pop places And having the community step in And help out is truly one of the most American things you can do...Take it from a Canadian. Texans are good people
you are all wonderful human beings. bravo Texas from a guy in Chicago !
What a wonderful story about an incredible community!
This is America i know!
What a wonderful person he is!❤
This guy. I love him!!
This is what makes my heart happy good job y’all

My family is from Navasota and still have some there. Will definitely be stopping by the next time I’m in Navasota!
That's how it's always been Us Texans always look out for our own
I love watching videos that makes me smile hard af
God bless everyone in this community🤗🤗🌹🌹🤟🤟🙏🙏
Awesome news story.
I wish we had this store. It looks awesome.
Blue Bell truly crapped on this good man. F Brenham.
It goes to show how people humbleness kicks in when we're at our worst times!
Thanks to all of you!! We need small bussines like that!!
Well done Texas! God bless you all.
Don’t know why I was recommended this as I live in California and never been to Texas before, but I loved this wholesome video. Ice cream is my favorite dessert. 🍨
If i lived in that town, i would go to his store as much as i could!
Thanx for A Great Story of the community Helping stay afloat !!! Pretty Kewl.
Mercy! Navasota is like a hundred miles from the coast! Must have been some storm. Glad the community helped this guy stay in business.
With the scoop,love it.
Ty😊❤God Bless
Lovely story!
Thank you, fellow humans
I loved going to the local ice cream shop growing up. Dehn's Ice Cream Parlor. They had Chocolate Malteds that to this day I've never tasted anything better.
The POTUS would love your shop. 🍦🍦🍦
Love is an action word! 👍
1:49 That makes me very, very angry, with Blue Bell. Their policy should be flexible, in such cases. They can definitely afford to replace the stock of such a small shop. What jerks! My boycott begins now! Screw Blue Bell!!!
They are right down the street from the guy at that. I guess he doesn’t spend enough money with them.
Really? It's Blue Bell? Well now we know! For shame!
My thoughts exactly!
@@jdwool08 Then I guess they won't miss his "measly" orders when he switches brands! Boycott BLUE BELL !
@@xoxxobob61 you’re right I’m not buying blue I will be buying heb brand where I’m at
Shame on the supplier! I bet he'd been a loyal customer of the supplier for years!
Archie!!! Thank you for saving the Ice Cream Shop!! Tyra Banks!
Shame on Blue Bell. I promise you if the factory down the street was affected. They claimed a loss to Insurance.
Lovely story ❤
I'm just amazed that there's still people around that talk like that.
The thought of an elderly man crying makes me want to cry. I'm so glad that he was able to get his store and ice cream back and that the story has a happy ending. His neighbor has a heart of gold.
What a crock!!! The old geezer lives in a tornado alley…….yet hasn’t got the god given sense to invest in a portable generator!!! Then bawls as the doo-doo hits the fan! I live on the west coast, open to winter storms, heavy duty flooding!! We have portable generator, plenty of fuel cuz we don’t want spoilage and also lighting when power is out for longer periods!!! Think about it …kristy!
Decent human community effort. Well done.
This is beautiful ❤️😍❤️.
Yay for the good guys! There’s still plenty of us around, just not made as as public as the bad guys! Share the ❤️😊🍦
Beautiful
What a great story!! ❤
That is the real American way..helping others
What a wonderful news!
Wow see America there is still some good human beings out there god bless those donors
What a sweet story😊
Beautiful story
I'm glad this small town realizes how lucky they are to have an old fashioned ice cream shop. All we have in my town of 30,000 people is soft serve, (Dairy Queen, Sonic, McD) no real malts, shakes, sundaes...the closest ice cream shop is a BR 31 Flavors, that's 15 miles away.
Hope he got a new supplier...🤫
Great story, good people. Use that extra cash towards a generator! Can’t let a pesky storm melt your ice cream anymore!
Get a backup generator for the freezer.
$3k? In NYC when power goes out in a couple of days the deli lose is like $30k-$50k of business . That’s worth bitching about.
The ice cream supplier should feel great shame. They surely have the money and power to have helped out, but money was more important.
And just as a side thought, not that people should only be nice when it benefits them, but allowing his shop to shut down because they don’t care enough to help him out a little in the meantime means they’ll lose thousands of dollars of business in the long run.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume his supplier was a small, family owned company that was also majorly impacted by this storm and just couldn’t help… 😒
Glad to see the community stepping in, regardless.
He should buy a generator with some of that money.
A simple fix that will likely never happen, its almost like people want to fail.
😊😊😊😊 god bless yall 😊😊😊😊
