Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton are the best in. the game, they make guest feel comfortable and that's when the interviews are more genuine, with that been said Laurence Fishburne is an amazing actor, the Tine Turner biopic, Boyz in the hood, hoodlum, king of NY, Deep cover, etc etc
Without Fishburn, the Matrix wouldn't have been as good I credit the success of the Matrix to actors like Hugo Weaving (smith), Laurence Fishburne (morpheus) Pantaliano (cypher) and a really amazing supporting cast. Keanu and Carrie were not that spectacular, but they did a decent job.
People under-estimate how important Keanu's performance was to The Matrix. He is that low key everyman, accessible avatar of an actor. He carried us through, letting us believe we could be him. Get a actor who is too charismatic or macho and it wouldn't have worked. He was the perfect protagonist for The Matrix.
@@KevinMuldoon Nope, the main problem was not going with the elevated dialogue and such character actors like the original, as the Merovingian said in Ressurections. It's also ridiculous to knock down Keanu and Carrie when most of the audience remember the action scenes
@@vb8428 yeah, its common, from my understanding, that a TV actor (small screen) can easily work 15 hour days day in and day out if its a "main role". That is grueling in the long run.
@@vb8428 Of course, what i meant is if you have a main role, you are likely to be in the majority of the scenes, hence your presence on set is required to a far greater degree than someone in a lesser supporting role. If you are shooting a movie, you have a relatively "lax" schedule usually. If you on the other hand are shooting a TV series with 20 plus episodes per season, you are against the clock constantly.
Seeing that both roles are rather iconic, i cannot imagine that the studio didn't offer them the parts in the first place. Maybe they didn't want to do it ? Weaving (Smith) is "only" 61, and Fishburne is 60 (Keanu is 57 and Carrie Ann Moss is 54), so its probably not age related.
He will always be Cowboy Curtis to me! 😎 I never realized he was in Apocalypse Now. I bet partying with that cast, at 15, in the PIs, was a crazy learning experience for him. I would have loved to be over here at 15! ha ha

Two days ago I watched 'Knives Out' -not a terrible film but certainly not worthy of all the acclaim it received. Great cast, great acting, great setting (the house), and a plot which drizzled out and lost the necessary tension after about an hour. A missed opportunity at greatness. I watched 'Delicatessen' yesterday which is a faultless classic. Just for the record, did you like 'The Force Awakens?
"Thank you, gentlemen". Always liked it when the guests acknowledged the singers.

8:25-8:31-8:40 Lol Laurence Fishburne on being too old to do kung fu 😅😅
That was really odd. I thought this was a recent interview until they referred to Dennis Hopper in the present form.

Agreed Peter. I think the latest Matrix would have been infinitely better if they had included Weaving and Fishburne into it.

What a lovely character
Wow, he's such a great guy! God bless him!
He's such a legend
Should not have watched this at 4 in morning.. too much laughing that late.. LOL I love Laurence..
Never knew he was in CSI, I've seen a few of them but. It with him. He's a good actor.
Love Fishburne as an actor, but he was just wrong for CSI (then again, the entire show took a gigantic nosedive, so...).
I know a number of former movie stars who took roles in such because they're stable paying gigs but they usually ended up hating the work hours

Still today in 2023 one of the most relavent movies ever filmed
You will.always be Morpheus and no one can replace you
They made a huge mistake not adding him and the original Agent Smith in the new Matrix! Still wonder what was the reasoning...

Laurence Fishburne is fascinating.
How old is this show? Dennis Hopper has been dead for years.
This episode was originally broadcasted on Dec 4, 2009. Jonathan has a new talk show on a different channel called The Jonathan Ross Show.
Since Johnny Carson

Hello Morpheus
I find this show a bit weird for some reason, maybe the acapella and turkey leg just caught me off guard.
He’s very pleasant. If I was Samuel L Jackson I would have appreciated being mistaken for him.

My brother thought the new Matrix was sh*t, and he usually likes everything.
Then your brother is a casual with an oversized ego, people who knows the history and lore of the Matrix enjoyed it.
