Thats why I am not sure what to recommend because every dance suits a member in a group more then the other. I am not a professional so Idk.
I love how one of Jongho's strengths is "mostly executes the choreography required" because as a main vocal this is key to saving energy for his high notes later on in the performance.
taesthetic IKRR in most of their music videos he doesn’t get to get a good part to show his dances properly because his the main vocalist and in the mv he only get to do the hight notes and stuff

I don't think anyone is denying he can dance. The KQ Fellaz dances showed this- as he often had central roles. He and Hongjoong got the furthest in MN after passing the dance eval yet are bottom here. This is just based on one video of one performance. It doesnt account for who's singing, nor that each member here is dancing as they would for a stage performance (hence footwork being different as it adapted to moving positions on stage). This video is just a bit of fun, and just one person's opinion, it's not going to be accurate.
No lie Jongho is actually a really strong dancer but since he has to save up energy and stamina for that final belt right before the break he didn’t get much spotlight in Wonderland. KQ Fellaz, aka where he didn’t have to sing, shows that he’s actually a damn good dancer when he can put all of his stamina into performing

IKR THE UNTAPPED TALENT
He might have a natural tendency towards dancing, ie a natural knack for it but he never explored until entering the company. But, he's also an extremely hard worker and also very detail-oriented so that might have helped too. Depending on what types of sports he did before training can also help, or if he did sports at all.

I cannot englishy- actually. she/he's right. san is "violent" and an overdancer. even members pointed it out. he does some choreos inaccurately to make him unique, which again was called out by the members. why he's best in wonderland? because this fits his dance style. violent, energetic, angry.

@키미 he does, but since their performances aren't for winning a dance competition and being evaluated by judges about just their technique alone, it's one of those 'yeah he does but it plays into their entire performance' things. I don't think it's ever truly possible to separate a K-pop performance down into presence, vocals, and technical dancing unless you're in a competition about those things and there's judges evaluating each one separately. To me, San's overdancing makes him extremely interesting to watch perform and it fits into their performance-based pirate concept very well. So yeah San may not be the best technical dancer, he may overdance, but he's still an incredible performer and becoming a truly incredible dancer, and at the end of the day, having the versatility and overall performance put together is where it's all at to me. (ymmv, but that's just my perspective on things.)
Taeyong and San being on tier A even though they couldn’t dance and were criticized when they first became trainees, really says it all. Can you imagine the dedication, determination, discipline and strength it must have taken for them to come so far in such little time? I am absolutely amazed!
My two bias. It's really amazing to see how far they've come and how much they're respected for what they at first couldn't do is actually kinda inspiriy.
They are also both my biases💜 Not sure if this is my place to say, but I do feel so incredibly proud of them!

Yes ! You are absolutely right ! At first when I stan nct, taeyong really caught my eye because of his dance move, charisma and his visuals. And when i saw one of video on yt, taeyong was not a dancer back then. He doesn’t know anything about dance before. Same with san. He has something that idk aura maybe that i keep on focusing to him. I hope they will be recognized even more :)
San is one of the best at krumping and it suits his dancing so well

His impovements and being one of the best idol dancers we have rn it's just so inspiring how he turned himself into who he is now. And for San he is not even in the main dancers line and yet he slays like this. I just love how I see their charisma and own flavors and techniques while dancing.

To be honest, when I first saw Ateez's performance, I thought San was the main dancer. But he's a lead vocal. San's dance moves in "Hala Hala" still give me chills. Also, San has a strong stage presence.

i feel like nobody ever talks about this but jongho has always been an incredible dancer too (always getting center in kq fellaz performance videos and in sicko mode plus his GODTIER drop-to-the-floor "hmmm" part in hala hala) only his dancing hasn't been able to shine like it used to especially in ateez choreographies bc he has to conserve energy as the main vocal in conclusion jongho all-rounder boy who deserves more appreciation for his dancing skills!
I loved watching his part in Hala Hala. It also reminds me of Yeosang's spin drop in Pirate King. All of Ateez members are exceptional
Yees I agree! I remember that when I first watched the performance video of lick, I was shocked with jongho's performance (specially at the beginning when he's in the center), and in sycho mode. He's a great performer like the others, but we don't really see it because the parts where he is focused in the performances, he is just doing maybe more relaxed or easy movements because he's hitting those high notes, and it's obvious that singing that high and stable while executing super powerful dance steps it's not a good combination.
I feel that his dancing and facial expressions are underrated.

We didn't talk much ab Yunho's body control bc with his type of body (tall and all) he manage to control them very well, he knew how to compare his height with other members when they bend their knee or when they jumped...I'm so proud of my boy😭💕

For anyone confused about who the dance line is, it’s Yunho, Mingi, and Wooyoung. Yeosang is also sometimes mentioned as a lead dancer while the other three I mentioned are main dancers. Despite belief, San has never been officially said to be in the dance line.

The official dnace line consists of Yunho, Wooyoung, Mingi and Yeosang. Yunho just said that he, Mingi and Wooyoung are the best dancers but Yeosang is part of the dance line as well

Everyone asking the same question: “HOW SAN IS NOT MAIN DANCER?”
Let me explain.
San had no dancing experience before he joined KQ. He was even the worst one when it came to dance. He was almost giving up because he couldn’t do well in monthly evolution and couldn’t join the others. Even now the members & San make fun of his audition for KQ. He did EXO Overdose and he couldn’t even do the easy moves. He entered the company with his great vocal skills & he’s lead vocalist of ATEEZ. Even now he keeps taking vocal lessons & keeps improving.
Let’s talk about his dancing skills now.
San has a great body for a dancer. He was playing volleyball & basketball a lot. He was a libero & hitter. He has 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo. So his hips & body are very flexible & strong.
1 Million dance studio’s owner & choreographer Lia Kim said that his dancing skills surpass the human’s body of expected capabilities. His high level strength and flexibility are impressive, he can play the center role in any performance. She also said he’s a fast learner.
San used his body, which was born for dancing, very well. Like how members said he’s unstoppable hard working guy in the group. He has worked so hard. His hard work, passion & determination payed off.
And today he came to the level that everyone asking “How he’s not a main dancer?”
And about KQ positions that KQ shared 2 years ago, before their debut.... the position list they shared 2 years ago doesnt even matter now because all members have improved and changed a lot. San is a member that shows the greatest development and change for the members and the others. We don't need titles to see the facts. We all know that he has main dancer materials right now. Like his height is 1.73 in position list BUT he’s 1.75 now. We shouldn’t ignore the fact and say he’s still 1.73 because KQ didn’t update yet, right? 😃
Also all dancers have their own style & way while dancing. Some dancers dancing more controlled, some dancers dancing more stronger & powerful, some dancers dancing so gracefully that they are extremely graceful, some dancers are full of energy that will blow you with energy at any moment. Being different doesn’t make them less talented than each other.
Please stop comparing SAN’s style to the other members. It’s obvious that our members have different style & way. Also San having a main dancer material doesn’t mean that other members don’t have it. A lot of groups have more than one main dancer. Our ATEEZ also has a lot of main dancers~ 😃
Professional calls him “The Man Who Will Upgrade The Standard Of Kpop Performance”
Nonfans call him “One of the best dancers & performers of Kpop.”
When it comes “4th Gen’s Best Performer” even nonfans say “Choi San.”
So I can’t understand why those ATEEZ fans are very salty about him being No1 here? Instead of fighting with each other, let’s learn how to appreciate his hard work. Like how the members said, he’s THAT member good at everything. We should be very proud that he’s a part of ATEEZ....

Saadet Doğan I didn’t read all you wrote, but I’d like to explain that Ateez has 1 main vocal and thats all. The others are just vocalist (its confirmed) So San is not the lead vocalist.

I’m not a huge fan of Ateez but I listen to some of their songs and I got to say San really caught my eye. His moves were so stylised I just couldn’t help but look at him perform. If I were to be an atiny he would be my bias.

KQ really needs to update Ateez’s profile and switch san into a main dancer. I know he wasn’t a good dancer when he first joined the company but he’s improved SO MUCH and it’s astonishing how on the profile he’s only listed as a lead vocal.
Edit: To clear any misunderstanding, I did not ever state that San having a main dancer title discredits any of the other members skills. And I do understand positions on the profiles are just a titles and in the end they do not mean anything. I’m personally not too active in the fandom to know that San being a great dancer was known factor esp when the profiles I read said never stated anything about his dancing (which is why I commented). In any case, all the members are always improving and I would not be surprised to see some of the member’s ranks change in the future. So please do not think I’m overestimating/underestimating any of the member’s dancing

I think that the wave choreography has more benefits for hongjoon's dance style and emphasizes his skills rather well than wonderland. he's not the best dancer but he has the most professional vibes as artist in ateez, nobody can bit his facial expression

San's talent is out of this world. And to think he is not even in the dance line....
San has really good control of his lower body movements because of his background in taekwondo (martial arts centered on kicks), so it makes sense that he knows when to tighten and when to loosen up in terms of execution. Yunho? Not surprised. Mingi? Also not surprised. Seonghwa is actually one of the least flexible in Ateez and he has longer legs so I can see where he’d have trouble with lower body movements. And for the others I can totally see what you’re talking about. You must’ve watched these videos at least 8 times to compare angles, lines, focal points and executions so I really do applaud you.

i approved this one as san improved a lot in dancing and singing since his debut. he has one of the most obvious improvements since debut. ive never seen someone dance so good like him. his stage presence and stuffs. he absolutely knows how to communicate with his fans through a performance. i like how he using all his power in a dance!! respect for you san!!!

auni azhar mad mad MAAAAD respect for him. He always goes for what he sets his mind to. Like in their interview in Japan, San was the most fluent in Japanese. Wooyoung said San stayed up for many nights just practicing Japanese. Also his English improved a LOT. Not to forget how he said he wanted to gain weight and later, was really happy to report that he did.
For real, kq really needs to modify their profiles and make san at leeeeeeeeest lead dancer and why not main dancer and seonghwa lead dancer, these two still don't have the recognition they deserve for such a big talent. (btw why not seonghwa rapper I've seen a lot of video of him eapping and he's pretty good😉)

I laughed my whole ass off when bd I read the “Yunho unfit facial expressions for particular movements” part because it’s so true. IMO Yunho is def the best dancer in this group (even if San and Joong are better performers IMO) but I have a hard time taking him seriously in darker concepts. He is beyond perfect in cute concepts like wave, but in darker concepts I think he doesn’t quite fit in, because his natural tendency is to be cute (for lack of better phrasing lol). Hongjoong is not even close to as good a dancer as Yunho and yet his performance always stands out to me more because he can execute any concept perfectly, whether it’s cute or intense or dark.
At the end of the day Yunho is my second or third fave in ATEEZ but sometimes I feel frustrated because I really really feel like he has so much untapped potential because he feels uncomfortable expressing serious concepts.

@@askpace1413 Wonderland calls for fierce expressions, not just serious. I think what the OG commenter meant was that Yunho can easily do bright expressions but has difficulty/is limited with his dark expressions.

I agree that Yunho should've worked more on his facial expression. I pay attention to him closely because he's my bias and yes, he excecutes the movement really clean and detailed (it's his style) but his facial expression doesn't always fit. I believe he's able to show great facial expression because I've watched him imitating other members in reality show and he reaaaally did it very well. So I keep wondering why he doesn't show it on the stage. However, I believe that he always practice and work hard for the best performance. He'll keep progressing and show better stage presence in the future so please anticipate it and encourage him 💙

One thing great about the members is that they believe they’re all great dancers and all that’s different is their style and whose style fits the song.
I remember in an interview, Yeosang was asked who’s the better dancer between San and Yunho. Then ateez rephrased the question to whose style you like better, with San to Yunho being the range.
San has raw talent and raw execution of steps, adding more emotion to his steps. Yunho’s is precise, clean and more practiced. Both are polar ends but are great dancers. That’s what they were getting at.
Can we all appreciate how precise and accurate the dance analyst was? I mean when they pointed out the strengths and weaknesses, I could actually see them in the members.
san is incredible, i think one of his only weaknesses is that sometimes he seems really tense, which usually is no problem and actually helps his performance (bigger throws, higher jumps, he can lock super hard etc) but sometimes you can see the tension in his upper body especially, like he needs to relax his shoulders or let out a breath or something haha. that will for sure come with time tho, he's already improved soooo much, crazy to think he has no prior dance experience. san and taeyong (my 2 biases may i add) just prove how much untapped potential there is out there!!

I totally agree with this analysis🤗 tho I'm a Yunho stan, Wonderland choreo requires a lot of power and flexibility, San did that a little more better than Yunho.
A fact check that San has an athletic physique, flexible and light body that's why he fits more in this choreo( whatever,, he's just really good ) facial expression wise he's on point ,that makes him stands out the most.
But what i really love about Yunho is that He is the Main Dancer that doesn't really try hard to standout. He is so big yet he move really gracefully(you won't see it in some hard choreo tho) but his details are so clean. And his focus is really outstanding,that makes him the Main dancer , he makes dancing looks so easy that you can learn the choreo just by watching him.
And yes ,,i perfectly believe that his weakness is his facial expression🤗🤷 we all know Yunho is a sunshine, it's not Yunho if he's not smiling.. Y'all should know that when they are doing this Dance Practices or Relay Vid, or some promotional thingy like fanmeeting, he doesn't take it seriously,like he's just enjoying and giving some fun and positive vibes,, but, when you tell him to get serious, he'll suit up like an Avenger ready to save the world🤷😍🤗.

i agree, but stage presence isn't just acting like a demon. for example: San still had amazing stage presence during wave despite it being a cute concept where he didn't act like a demon. Sometimes yunho's expressions are a little lackluster. that being said, he has improved so much lately and i'm so proud of our golden retriever
Thank you for this comment. That’s what all the comments should be about under this video. It’s okay to have a bias, but that wasn’t the point of the video. Like you said it, San juste has a better “vibe” (idk how else to put it) for this particular song so it’s normal for him to come up first. People really need to stop hating on other members just to promote their bias. I’m a San bias, but I have always said that Yunho is a better dancer. He has better technique overall and that’s okay. To me San is a better performer, but Yunho is a better dancer and that’s OKAY! People seriously need to stop hating on San for being the FOTG and for being known for his performance skills because that man has worked so hard for all of this and he deserves the recognition that he is given. But it’s always 8 makes 1 team. Ateez are God tier performers for rookies and San is an exceptional performer for a rookie idol so I understand where all the praise come from. I never get bored of any second he is on stage, he knows how to get your attention and he doesn't let go of it so you just watch him in complete awe. And this is not only fans opinion but also pro dancers, but co atinys, let's not forget that Yunho and Mingi are the main dancers and for a solid reason. They are THE dancers of ateez, flawless clean moves, great bodily control and exceptional dance showcase.
San is exceptional as a performer but Yunho and Mingi are dance gods.

But look, taeyong has improved like *crazy*, he has mad dancing skills and is now one of the best in the kpop industry. And I can see san climbing that spot too😌

I find that interesting because to me (I don't have a bias btw), in the 1st performance video, Yunho stood out to me the most, followed by Mingi. In the second one, Jongho stood out to me, followed by San/Seonghwa. And in the third one, Jongho stood out to me again, followed Wooyoung. So basically, when I didn't know any of their names or faces and had no idea who was who, a different person stood out to me in basically each video.

I really like San's dancing style, I know this video is about Ateez but the way he moves reminds me of Taeyong from Nct? I don't know much about dancing, I'm just a beginner but their moves look so light and relaxed. It's like there's no tension at all.
I know the story behind San's dancing experience and how he struggled but honestly, he deserves to be the official main dancer. When I first saw Ateez's live performances, I was dead sure he was the main dancer or at least, one of the main dancers. He's beyond charming!
he is not necessarily main dancer material. Most main dancers have different jobs outside of dancing on stage such as choreography and teaching dances. Well he is great and dancing and has a lot of stage presence compared to some of the others who are on the dance line he isn’t as well versed. Along with that he doesn’t have any traditional training or al least not as much as say Wooyoung, Yunho, or Yeosang.(I don’t know much about Mingi so I can’t say). What he really deserves is lead dancer with the other 4 or at least to be on the dance line.
