I currently own an iPad mini 6th gen and I plan to keep mine for many years. My previous iPad was an iPad Air 2 and that lasted me 6 years from 2016-2022. The iPad mini 7th gen is for those still using an iPad mini 4 or 5 who will receive the massive change when upgrading.
If you think you can keep your mini 6 for years then you probably don’t multitask. I use my mini 6 heavily, playing a game and have a pop video and slide over app at the same time and every time I do that the 4GB ram starts screaming! Games start slowing down webpages reload and pop up video closes. Those who say mini 6 owners don’t need to upgrade haven’t tried to multitask heavily on an iPad. For me the 8GB ram is an enough reason to upgrade.
@@GenusAnas I mean I can agree the RAM will make a huge difference for gaming and multitasking. I've upgraded from the 5th Gen, and went with the Space Grey - not a fan of pastels. Well done, US Apple fans. Your iPhones might not have SIM trays any more, but at least you got a charging brick with your new iPad Minis. Unbelievable. Thanks for the content.
As someone who hasn't got an iPad and I like small form factor of the mini 7 I've ordered one with the pro pencil. I always just use my iPhone 15 plus for everyday and video editing and content watching from you tube etc, so having this mini feels right to me to enjoy doing those things I enjoy in a bigger but compact way. You have a new subscriber too.
I use my iPad mini 6 for work with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil almost everyday. No issues. ChatGPT and Copilot. Not really caring about Apple intelligence at this point. Nice video!
2:11 Exactly! What makes the iPad mini cool is the fact that it’s bigger than a phone but smaller than a regular tablet! And with full multitasking capabilities (minus Stage Manager), it’s certainly more than just an oversized iPhone.

Got mine in purple with a flower case that I got on Amazon, which compliments the color of my phone case. I am coming from the Mini 5 and I am instantly impressed.
Bought a blue iPad mini 7 today. Don't have an iPhone so this is worth getting for the price. Traded in my mini 6 for $260 off the price of the new one. Right away there is less glare on the screen, and that is great for reading Apple Books.
I picked up a 13 inch M4 pro about 2 months ago. Love that thing to death. As a digital artist and someone who uses an iPad Pro as their main computer/laptop, I still somehow wound up getting a mini 7…for the reason that it fills out the roll of an iPad more than the pros and airs. The portability and the way I use it is more in line with a tablet than the bigger iPads. I guess I mean It’s more pick up and go. It does everything the pro does but for whatever reason, its form factor just seems like the ideal iPad experience.
I had 2 iPad Minis the original and the last one with a home button. I mainly bought them because they fit easily in my bicycle luggage, so I could ride, stop for a coffee, read, then ride home. Also for air travel they fit well on a tray table and fit in a purse to carry on. However I'm not a 100% Apple person so I discovered that a 16 x 10 10.5" or 11" Android tablet is just about as space efficient. So I now have a Lenovo Duet 3 ChromeOS tablet. It's way better than the mini for UA-cam viewing, less letter boxing. I also have a Kindle if I strictly just want to read. Still a mini fan though, nice device.
I am planning to get the iPad Mini 7. I plan to use my device for the next 2-3 years. My main activities on this device will be streaming musics, youtube and netflix. Note taking & PDF reading for my work and my post grad degree. Maybe 1-2 games only. Do you thick 128GB will suffice ?
I think the lcd screen is a great feature for me, since oled bothers my eyes. The iPad mini is probably a lot nicer to watch videos on than my iPhone SE. I also like the price. Do you think it’s better to get the 7th gen mini, or get the 6th gen brand new from Amazon for $350? A speed test between the new Mini and 15 Pro Max would be great. Thanks for the video Nick!
Nick, hoping you could do comparison or a speedtest between the iPad Mini 7 (A17 pro) and the iPad Pro M2. Lets see if how the A17 pro compares with the M2. Thanks
That 327 ppi on the iPad mini 6 and this one is much higher than any other iPad including the pro at 267 ppi. The text is sharper on my mini 6 it is sharper when looking side by side with the pro models in the store.
I'm planning to get the ipad mini 7 as my first ipad. Firstly, I really love its size which is also the reason why I'm leaning to the mini. I have a macbook for heavy work but I just wanted to use the mini as an extention of my work especially while on the go or travelling. I am a social media manager so I can use the mini for quick photo/video editing and manage my client's socials. I also want to use it for media consumption, emails, taking notes, journalling, planning and do some art and sketching for fun. I'm still thinking whether to get 128 or the 256 one. Btw, love this review! I'm binge watching all ipad mini reviews. :)
I got the iPad mini 7, in Blue, in Australia, with trade in of my iPad mini 6, it cost me $US 324.37. I use my iPad mini, for at least an hour a day. I’m not afraid to put on reading glasses, the reason it’s cheap, is because it doesn’t have phone components and it’s a binned chip, one processor down, but it’s still a beautiful chip, 3nm, I think 20 billion transistors, the pro version, 35 tops of machine learning artificial intelligence. In 2 months it’ll get Apple Intelligence, double the short and long term memory, of my old iPad, more than twice the tops of machine learning. The old one was sweet, at 5nm, heck the version 5, was fairly good, at 7nm, but 3nm, four times the power, at the same energy consumption, it’s a candy bar.
I don’t care about Promotion at all on the Mini. I’d like OLED and a higher brightness. That’s all I really want for this product, bur I am already enjoying it.
@@drathul123 Apple’s claim is that including chargers for phones is no linger necessary, since nearly everyone should have multiple chargers capable of charging a phone already. Other devices, it can be argued that less people might have chargers that can charge those devices, in terms of wattage.
I traded my M1 Air for the new Mini and haven’t noticed any difference in use. Read as much as I could and benchmarks will say A19 faster in single core, slower in multi core, and about 1,000 points less in GPU. I would say that the M1, at four years old, is still a “better” chip with speed and cores, but I haven’t noticed any differences in performance; after all iPad OS is the same on all. Took a couple days to adjust to the smaller screen, but it’s much easier to handle and type on while holding. Hope that helps

useful for private pilot but the screen brightness is such a letdown as when you were high in the skies sometimes you cant see shit on that low brightness screen
Aside from improved chipset and higher base storage, rather lackluster “update” from the 6 mini. I like the form factor of the mini, but was hoping for oled and 120hz as that was the minimum to make me want to upgrade after three years

I mean, if you’re someone who’s just looking to acquire a miniature tablet with exquisite features, I guess I’d recommend it. But it’s really not much new to justify upgrading. Hope the 8th generation compensates for this insignificant new model.
I never owned an iPad mini but recently im playing some high end games like zzz and wish to pair iPad mini 7 with a razer controller, also use it as a drawing pad for my animation. but the price is having me left unsure, can anyone give me some advice thx
sadly the performance is still not sufficiently enough to drive those games without the slowdown/hiccup..getting ipad pros should be better as they have the M series SOC..

The pictures on the website make it look turquoise which I was into so if it's rly more of a slate gray-blue I'm a little disappointed 😢 I might go with purple instead
they could've probably made the base model at 550$ with a better screen and chip... as someone who will be upgrading from a mini 2 after nearly 10 years this shouldn't be too much of a problem
The iPad Mini does not run the OS as the iPhone. It uses iPadOS and apps developed for it take advantage of the larger screen. The reason I use the iPad Mini is specifically because I find iOS to limiting and the larger iOS phones simply expand the same screen to fill the larger space. iPadOS actually provides a different interface that makes use of the additional space.
It's funny they have the second best processor they offer, but then give this iPad a mediocre display and not really any other upgrades year over year.
yes iPhone 14 mini and iPhone 15 mini and iPhone 16 mini would of been awesome if they carried on with them mini series I've had iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini before
It’s funny you saying it’s not sharp enough, even though it’s the sharpest iPad 😂. I miss my mini, but finally having my devices all on 120 hz now, I just can’t bring myself to go backwards. Maybe if the next one is oled 120hz I’ll give up my iPad Pro M2.
I find it odd that they put a discontinued processor in here rather than the A18 from the base iphone 16 that would still accomplish the goal of supporting apple intelligence. Maybe they had a surplus of iphone 15 pro motherboards after discontinuing the model and had to put them to use
That is a nice tablet, but nothing replaces the iPad Air or iPad Pro. If you want an iPad with top-of-the-line specs and more storage go with the iPad Air or iPad Pro.

they could atleast add 90hz. and then bump the pro to 144 to make that distinction. it's time. it's been time.
I think the pro should go to 240 since the base model now starts at $1000 it should have more than 120

The phones can do 120

I ordered a refurb iPad Pro M1 for £550 from Apple. Why would I pay £499 for a mini with a 60HZ display. For an extra £50 it’s so worth it.
I love my iPad Pro, but I am in bed a lot due to health issues and I am coming from the Mini 5 that had trouble charging for months on end. So I am finding myself quite pleased with this purchase rate.
I have the mini 6 but nah it was 2022 now we are in 2025 and 80$ androids has 90Hz
