I've not really had an issue with it tbh, although i was quite OP quite early on. I think one way you can try to solve it is to use cooking to craft food you can eat between fights to replenish HP and MP. Some meals will recover X% HP/MP at the end of combat for X amount of fights. Other meals are just good for healing in general, and cooking resources for quick HP and MP boosts are pretty cheap. Other than that try to equip accessories that give more MP or give MP Regen and that'll help as well. Lemme know how you get on!

Art is a better way to do this. ESPECIALLY if the Design Sense talent is on a character. The Goodie Box is not super common but getting at least one out of 20 crafts IS common.
Cool video. I never played the original but I'm thinking I need to play this remake-it looks amazing. I'm guessing the game isn't too difficult, relatively speaking, so I'm not sure I'd want to RNG grind a one shot sword early game; it seems like it would make the combat mindless and take away from incremental progression that feels good in these games. Still, it's a cool strategy and trick to get OP. I might have to pick this up today.
Oh yeah it makes certain things trivial for a chunk of the game but it does get surpassed eventually. The Goodie Box has many things it can drop! Trying to find a list but you could just open the box and see what it gives you randomly without the save scumming.
I put the game on galaxy just to try and learn the combat system though failure quicker, pretty much every enemy one shots you which hurts because your teammates are AI controlled and they get blasted immediately. I think most of the red encounters hit for double your hp early on. Definitely can be challenging if you are looking for that level of difficulty!
As for losing relationship with failed pickpocketing, it only happens if you fail all 3 attempts. Fail 2 and succeed on 3rd, no change in relationship.

Alright I may just be a humble American and accents may all sound the same to me, but your voice reminds me of Cid’s from FF16 and it made the video even better. Thanks for the help on this video, it was clear, organized well, and poignant.
What if I don’t want a stupidly powerful weapon? Let’s say I just want some good advice, should I still put those ten points in determination (or whatever it was)? or does that also break the game in other ways?
If you don't want the weapon i'd still recommend maxing Determination ASAP. That way all your other skill point costs drop and you get more for your SP.
Cook eggs, to make money to buy equipment and, healing items. It's up to you if you want to level up the familiar for the bunny mount and, the birds can be useful for buying items while in a dungeon.
Dude just have Celene make Goodie Box's with magical clay Lv 4 art. Save scum for goodie box....then save scum for the item.. . . I farm 5+ goodie box and save scum for Sword of Marvel's with 5+ goodie boxs at a time. Much faster
Sword if marvels was in the first 3 boxes i crafted. (my luck is changing!) decided it was too powerful, got boring pretty quick and ,, just turn the difficulty down if you wanna be OP. playing the game normally so, reloaded a prior save and forgetting it exists. (My luck hasnt changed. 😅)
Oh 100%, if you want a challenge for your first run i'd say do the maxing of Determination at most and then just stop and do whatever you fancy, explore the game!
There are times when the character you want to pickpocket only shows up when you are in PA mode. So it would be ideal to have the character you picked have it.
game is broken mad. got sword of marvels, a few minutes in got 2nd goodie bag from missions, and got 1000atk knuckle for rena and 1000whip for someone else. rip game difficulty
Little PSA here. It seems every character now has nimble fingers as a default talent. Started multiple games, recruit characters and they all have the talent by defaut. I think it's like this because of the way pickpocket works in this game than the original PS1 game.
Lol well why not just craft them with art I think it's magical clay to make them🤔 just a thought then you don't lose friendship with your team it mite take a little longer but not much and your going to grind anyway
Well pickpockets useful for getting the Mischief item and this is a free Goodie Box if you're going for Mischief (You'll already have the pickpocketing levels in order to get Mischief)
The thief's glove costs 40 k not 30. Make sure that you have nimble fingers or your success chance will be zero, and every attempt to pickpocket will fail.
What if your main character doesn't have Dex/Nimble fingers, does this effect pickpocket? I have Celine and Claudes at pickpocketing skill at lv 4 and 5. Btw, i got the thief's glove but my steal rate is at 0% is there something im doing wrong?
Yeah without Dexterity/Nimble Fingers you'll probably fail every steal attempt. However you can learn the Dexterity Talent later on in the game. You'll miss a few early rare items, especially the Mischief item but other than that you'd be good.
This video contains bad advice. You can learn Nimble Fingers IMMEDIATELY with item creation, just by using the Crafting skill. Wasn't even difficult to acquire!
Right?! Was the first thing I tried when I got them. Fail or success, you get negative points. But it’s not every time, which I’m trying to figure out. I just did 6 attempts with no negative and 2 were successful. So that’s something.
In the main menu there is an option for missions (second from bottom iirc) and you get rewards for in game achievements from it. Lots of resources and stat points.
Can any of these “beginner” videos NOT revolve around breaking the game? Maybe some of us don’t want to steal or go through all these obscure hoops just to play the game.
I'd say doing the early part (levelling Determination) and then focussing on the Talents you have when levelling your IC/Specialty Skills is still useful info. Just ignore the Goodie Box and maybe even Pickpocketing if you don't want that.
Yeah this was one of the things that hooked me on the game back in the day, the variety of stuff you can do is massive for a game from the late 90s. Just take your time with the skills and figure out what each does, keep an eye on the talents of each character (you can learn Talents eventually as well) and fit the skills to the talents as best you can. Gonna be doing some more videos for the game over the week going over some other stuff, not just game breaking items.
Things in general seem to have been simplified a fair bit from how I remember it, although i personally like getting Dex on the main character for pickpocketing straight off the bat without any running around. Out of 4 rolls i got two with Dex on iirc. But yeah, you could probably survive without restarting, just a little bit of extra effort to get it in game.

pick pocketing in PA for the switch does not work, you will still loose relationship
Good video! Though, I would recommend NOT to do this if you want to enjoy the game, at least on your first playthrough.
Oh 100%, if you want a challenge for your first run i'd say do the maxing of Determination at most and then just stop and do whatever you fancy, explore the game!
the game is enjoyed regardless
My claude has nimble finger but i started the game as rena, claude will be my leader but I wanted dias. Is that still ok?
There are times when the character you want to pickpocket only shows up when you are in PA mode. So it would be ideal to have the character you picked have it.
game is broken mad. got sword of marvels, a few minutes in got 2nd goodie bag from missions, and got 1000atk knuckle for rena and 1000whip for someone else. rip game difficulty
try universe mode with enemy seek on😅
@@AquaLady153 yah, were all practically glass cannons. no defensive equipments lol 🤣
Little PSA here. It seems every character now has nimble fingers as a default talent. Started multiple games, recruit characters and they all have the talent by defaut. I think it's like this because of the way pickpocket works in this game than the original PS1 game.
Nah, my Claude didn't have it and I was too far in to restart so I had to use crafting quite a few times to trigger it.
okay so it's purity?
It is!
You'll miss a few early rare items, especially the Mischief item but other than that you'd be good.
level it up
This video contains bad advice. You can learn Nimble Fingers IMMEDIATELY with item creation, just by using the Crafting skill. Wasn't even difficult to acquire!
I got Sword of Marvels on my second try!😁
It took me longer to write this comment!
First try, got nibble fingers on my mc.
First try got the Sword of marbles.
What the fuck is my luck?
Great video!
Do I level Purity or Piety with Rena??? Please help
Purity!
Thank you 😊
I have the Sword of Marvels and I love it! Took me 50 minutes to get the sword 🗡️
Congrats! It'll last you a while as well before you find upgrades.
I got the sword early but now choose not to use it
Found it way too easy
Good video thou
I still lose points pick pocketing on PA.
I just played the game randomly in highest difficulty and my CLaude can solo the entire game xD
Sadly, the PA doesn’t effect the outcome, still negative. And the gloves are 40,000
It sucks that PA doesn't protect from failure anymore, lol.
Right?! Was the first thing I tried when I got them. Fail or success, you get negative points. But it’s not every time, which I’m trying to figure out. I just did 6 attempts with no negative and 2 were successful. So that’s something.
I've just been saving often when i go on a stealing spree, lol
So...enemy encounters are just like Zelda 2.
Seems a bit over kill but tempted as I just died lots in demo
Quit watching these videos and just have fun with the game. That is how you will get your best start.
I agree to a degree, but some people like being as broken as possible with games like this.
And Star Ocean 2 just leans into it so much lol
Well said haha!@@Sector6UK
Just get the bodyguard and afk farm
Then why are you here
I gave up on this game after 3 hours. Painfully slow story.
You get one from doing missions. Game is fucking busted op
Yeah the missions tab is just ludicrous, lol
wym?
In the main menu there is an option for missions (second from bottom iirc) and you get rewards for in game achievements from it.
Lots of resources and stat points.
Can any of these “beginner” videos NOT revolve around breaking the game? Maybe some of us don’t want to steal or go through all these obscure hoops just to play the game.
I'd say doing the early part (levelling Determination) and then focussing on the Talents you have when levelling your IC/Specialty Skills is still useful info.
Just ignore the Goodie Box and maybe even Pickpocketing if you don't want that.
@@Sector6UK thank you! The skill and crafting system is pretty overwhelming at first. I don’t want to let it push me off the game though.
So many mistakes dude.
I messed up on saying Piety (No idea why my brain did that) but i didn't notice any other mistakes in it?
Talents are much easier to acquire now. Restarting for nimble fingers is no longer necessary.
Sorry, Nimble Fingers, it's not called Dexterity anymore lol
what do we need to do now?
@chauntelldietrich2931 just play the game
is it PIETY or PURITY?
It's purity, i fucked up, lmao
