I was thinking for instance that Galloway's 15 mile long run only takes two hours for someone who can run it at 8:00/mi, and that's not uncommon as a weekly conditioning run outside of specific race training, but I'd say excessive if it's three and a half hours and you'll run the race in under three. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be able to finish the race and have a great time if you just stay active and healthy. The monster in the dark is getting sick, which is so easy to do in the winter especially in your line of work. Too ambitious a training program is known to suppress the immune system. The details of the plan might matter less. All you can do is all you can do (and vice-versa!) and probably the more common mistake runners make is trying to do too much. But having a goal race ahead and a plan that you're excited for or curious about seems like a great way to stay consistent at running through a tough part of the year. All the best!
I'm a "slow" runner myself. I average anywhere 13-15 min. per mile and I'm training for my second half marathon. At my age 75, I'm so blessed that I can still run!
