You’re right. She’s not a country singer. She’s a worldwide icon who has had hits in just about every genre- pop, rock, alternative, hip hop, ska/reggae, and yes country too now with Blake. The only reason she did those country songs is because Blake wanted his future wife to sing them with him. Nobody But You was written for them and is about them. Are you also telling Pink she can’t do country or any of the many other pop singers now doing collaborations with country artists? Are you telling Maren Morris, Sam Hunt, Gabby Barrett, etc how dare their songs be on pop radio ?? The country music industry is actually pushing these crossovers to reach a bigger audience.

Don’t speak is one of the absolute classic break up songs. That kind of magic in a bottle only happens once in a lifetime for most artists and some never have that kind of hit. You are obviously using these comments to try to put Gwen down because she doesn’t want to be in a band anymore. That’s her right. Most bands don’t last- too much compromise and too many moving parts. Even the Beatles didn’t last. Doesn’t make them any less iconic. Gwen is a creative person. Her music is her outlet. Like all creative people, there are hits and misses, things that resonate with others, and things that are more personal. Used to Love You is not an iconic hit like Don’t Speak, but it is a good song that resonated with many, many people who could relate. Gwen even said it’s the first time in 25 years a record label has ever told her that they thought she wrote a hit song. We get it. You don’t like the song. You prefer bands and No Doubt. It is your opinion, but that doesn’t make it a universal truth.
@@terri4049 The quality of the songs speak for themselves. There is great, mediocre, recycled, and then there is just plain bad and bad recycled. It is just such a shocking contrast with these two songs, I felt it needed to be said. I leave the WHY to people to think about themselves, although it clearly may beyond anything we can make conclusions about or that are polite to make conclusions about. I certainly don't think artists have to write really crappy recycled pop songs just because they are solo. . . even though bands do offer synergistic writing opportunities.
