1) PRS SE Std, 2) Ibanez AZES with HSS, 3) Sterling Axis, 4) Epiphone Les Paul or 335, 5) Squire Classic Vibe Strat/Telly Special Mention to the Gretsch Junior Jet. I think that probably covers it all.
Novel incoming...sry but you really got my attention and respect for this list. This is the only "under $500" list I actually liked. You hit many different styles, and I appreciate that. Like you jest, "not gonna have 5 LP copies" I actually have 2 of these guitars, the Epiphone ES (got it in more of a vintage burst finish) and the LTD EC256 (transparent black, same one from the gear4music clips) and I gotta say you perfectly described the best genres for them both. I'm just blown away that 1 list had BOTH my guitars on it. You definitely earned this sub. I played for a long time and gave it up, selling ALL my gear (A nice ESP KH model that played like BUTTER, and my baby - a 1999 Gibson Gothic Explorer which still breaks my heart I got rid of...long story). Recently got back into it after I was gifted the Epiphone ES. I'm mainly a metal guy so after research picked up the 256. Wanted it in purple, but the trans black was on sale for $335.99 from $499.99 not passing THAT up. The fretboard on the 256 (roasted jatoba) can look and feel quite "dry" on that particular one for some reason. With some good lemon oil conditioner and tlc it can be a LOT better looking and feeling. The split knob can also be quite loose, but this is semi normal and not a problem. I actually prefer heavy guitars, like I said the 1999 Gibson Gothic Explorer was my BABY and I would LOVE to find another one.
Ok you asked so here goes. An Epiphone SG pro has a mahogany body and neck with rosewood fingerboard. Coil split deluxe tuners thin D shape. It's light weight and has the best upper fret access of any guitar made. Epi SG has a little bit thicker body for better tone and balance with less headstock angle for better tuning so yes you missed a good one big time.
I really liked the PRS Standard SE.. But in India, it is currently retailing at $870!! Btw Dan, why didn't you include any Ibanez guitars on your list?
You don't like Chinese guitars unless they have American brand names stamp on it like Fender PRS Epiphone or LTD. In these very same factories they make Eart Cort Yamaha and many more that are just as good if not better.
This post is outdated. Prices constantly rise a few times per year, especially since covid started. There have been about 3 price increases industry wide since this video was posted
