Seems more like parasitoids than parasites. What headcrabs already do in lore (and in G-mod with headcrabs+) is parasitic, they take over a body, and ruin the hosts life, but don't outright kill them (think tapeworms, or fleas). Parasitoids on the other hand, are more like predators that just use parasitic methods to hunt and kill (most wasps and viruses for example), this mod makes them function more like facehuggers that skip the xenomorph and egg part. But the author probably just used the name because it rolls off the tongue easier (or just didn't give a single damn).
