Was to me too the first time I did it, but what an incredible way to handle getting firmware / OS onto a device like this. Super awesome!

Just setup my first WLED lights a month ago. They are very cool if you like blinky lights. One issue I’m having is iOS app doesn’t display all the preset effects. As you scroll through the 50ish options it goes wonky and garbled. Web into the board and works just fine. Per usual, they are not a slam dunk and require some tinkering. Most of these electronics have a level of tinkering required. Hence why we probably enjoy them. They challenge our brains.
Edit: I also ran into issue with D4 data pin. The programming in WLED was pointing to a different PIN and I had to change it. Took a couple of hours to figure that one out. Everyone says D4. Not sure how mine was different but maybe it will help someone.

I've seen the same thing. I figured it was my font sizing on the phone creating an issue the author may not have thought about. Haven't reported the issue yet, but need to.

Love the WLED. I wonder if it'll work on my Debian 12 with KDE to hook up my ESP32/8266 boards? Will have to give it a try soon. Thanks for showing this with Linux as didn't know it could be done that way.

Installation is a matter of web browser - it allows you to connect to the USB port to flash the program. All modern browsers should support this. After uploading (flashing) the software, you communicate with the microcontroller via WiFi. You just need to know what IP address your router assigned to it.

Yeah, Debian should work, and Chrome browser works, but it will flat out tell you that Firefox isn't supported. My Mint 21 didn't work, even with Chrome, but I think that was more about my laptop vs. my Desktop machine.

Hey, question for you if you have a chance. I was trying to duplicate your setup for OpenWRT and I followed your steps for connecting the new router up temporarily to your network so you can download updates and connect to it, but it isn't connecting to the Internet. Is there a good forum I can go to to find help with this or something you followed to figure out your install methods?
Love your content and thanks so much!
Edit: Apparently when I installed OpenWRT, it swapped which Ethernet port was eth0, causing my whole setup to break because it wasn't setup to work in any of the other ports

Without knowing what your network settings are, and which device you are setting up, NICs etc, it's hard to say. Maybe just see if the Luci interface comes up. I noticed it was there initially on my last install of a more recent rc version.
