  • This last week I made a Chicken feeder to make it more convenient to feed the chickens. Great way to save a few trips to the chicken coop, I hope you enjoy.

Hi, I am the inventor... (and a USA homesteader). Thanks for sharing! Yeah, the instructions read 3" up from the bottom. =D Thanks again!

Pro trip: buy a cheap 6” fuel funnel and put it upside down in the bottom center

Hi Milek, Good idea! But the food that doesn't make it is by design. When you notice it "empty" (feed still in center, but unreachable), you can "swoosh" the feed around, or throw it on the ground. The "left over" (unreachable) food gives you an extra day or two to get back to the feed store. =D

You measure 3 inches from the bottom of the bucket, put a mark and drill on that mark.

    Are they UV-resistant?

I've found that about 3 inches from the bottom of the bucket is the best place to drill out the holes.

I will take note of that because I will be purchasing another one. Thanks!!

It's literally on the package he opened to drill 3 inches from the bottom. He got lucky though, I used those same Poultry Pro feeders and the hole saw came broken so the shaft wasn't attached and slid right through everything. Luckily I have a set of real hole saws.

We have made 3 of these for our flock 2 hold cracked corn 1 hold pellets/crumble. They are hanging but our chicken somehow flick out so much feed with there beaks we are getting a lot of wasting of feed. What can I do to solve this problem.

I have had a similar experience. My new chickens have figured out how to just go through the feed like crazy. I am looking for a solution as well.

I got one installed but my frustration is the food wasted by the chickens.

You didn't show the picture directions, and I'm no expert, but the "nozzles" look upside down to me.

The directions were not much to write home about but the picture did show the short stubby end to the outside. Thanks

@@watkinstreefarm6880 I did a little research on the Atwood's site, and a couple of YT videos. Those are called "feeder ports", and you installed them correctly. Thanks for the video.
