    I’m creating my first graphic novel series and I don’t know who to call that would give me a shot. And my book is gonna be very artistically detailed. Do you have anyone you can recommend me to?

    • @davidjesusvignolli649
      @davidjesusvignolli649  Рік тому +3

      Hi! Are you looking for an editor who could help you with your book? Most publishers want a one-shot graphic novel. No open ends. If your first book is successful then you can start a series.

    Thank you for this video! Do you think you can pitch an idea to a publisher without having the art, or using very bad art? I'm working on a story and using sketches to illustrate, but I am by no means an artist.

    When starting your graphic novel without the publisher yet, how do you manage page sizing? Im starting my graphic novel and i have done them A3 with a little bleed area but I made up the measurements as I couldn't find any standard measurement. Is this okay? Will any mistake with that effect publishing? I technically could edit them in the future as they are digital but that would take a long time after the whole comic is completed.

    As I see in the video you are using comic panels to tell the story, would this be considered just one big comic book or would it fall into the graphic novel category? (I ask because I plan to make "comics" in the next few years which I when I become an adult but I don't want to end up in the comic book industry with things like DC and Marvel comics or something like those).

      Hi Rovo, graphic novel is just another name for long comic books. The story usually has an end or a sense of conclusion, and graphic novels embrace a wide range of topics and genres, not only DC or Marvel. Looking forward to seeing your book. :)

    Thank you David for the advice and tips on approaching a publisher for publishing comic! I have a question:
    I would like to know how to approach a publisher if they don't have clear guideline on their websites, is it appropriate to email and ask them about the submissions method?

    • @davidjesusvignolli649
      @davidjesusvignolli649  Рік тому +1

      Hi WIlson, most of the time, when publishers don't have submission guidelines in their website, it means that they don't accept unsolicited submissions. You can always send an email but you might not get a reply. Try to find if the publisher's editors have social media and contact them. In the end of the day, publishers are always looking for great comics.

    Finding a publisher sounds easier. The problem I'm having is finding one that's hiring. So far I need a team, also be the artist, and or already have pages made. 😑 I knew it wouldn't be easy, but with these recent plain awful comics, I wonder how they get hired.

      Hi Zion, yes it's not so easy to find artists willing to draw your graphic novel. If you are willing to pay, there are good artists on fiverrr. If you would prefer a partnership, I would find one on Facebook (comic book groups) and pitch the idea.

    • @zionleach3001

    did you make the whole graphic novel BEFORE you started sending it to publishers? or did you do the first couple pages, send them to publishers, and while waiting for 6 months you finished the remaining pages?

    • @davidjesusvignolli649
      @davidjesusvignolli649  2 роки тому

      Yes, I made the entire graphic novel before I started sending it to publishers. I needed that feeling of completion. But Archaia just accepts a maximum 10 pages sample. After they replied I sent the entire book. They reviewed it and I ended up adding more 60 pages to the graphic novel.

    Hi David, well done on getting your comic book published! I too am writing a comic book, I already have to storyline set but I am afraid that I am not a very good artist when it comes to drawing the comic book panels. Would that be an issue when I will be asked to submit the artwork?
    Thank you,
    Shank :)

      Shankaren hi Shank! Yes, it’s an issue. As comics is a visual medium, I would recommend you to pay someone to draw the cover + 5 pages or find someone willing to partner with you. It will increase considerably your chances of being published. 😊

      @Winter Soldier There are some facebook groups that work as "match makers" to connect writers to artists. I would recommend browsing some of these groups.
