This song reminds me of the rhythm of marching songs when I was a soldier. But the theme is so much more joyful! It’s triumphant! Our help comes from Him. When I’m feeling a down, and I need a lift, this song gets me marching again with joy. It focuses the heart of a few simple truths. First, we are part of a great company of brothers and sisters “from every nation, tribe, people and language” (Rev 7:9). Second, He loves us. Finally, we come together based on Christ’s sacrifice - his blood. And He has become our peace and broken down the wall of sin between us and God - and by extension the walls of sin between one another (see Eph. 2). We are one in Him. What a great marching song for our day?!?!
