      Why do you even needed validation? You were never contaminated or indoctrinated. Think of all those children around the world that are being abused, intellectually, morally, physically and emotionally. And sexually, but that is for other reasons, yet they cover those too, just to be on safe side. god really is great for allowing all of that to happen.

    • @Satans_lil_helper
      @Satans_lil_helper 5 років тому +5

      @@insanetester1015 Don't assume too much. I was raised in the Catholic Church. I took my religion so seriously that I read the bible at an early age. I could read about the life cycle of a butterfly and I could go outside and observe it for myself. I couldn't do that with the Bible and the absurdities only reinforced my position.
      The need for validation is because each and every believer of any and all religions saw me as being unreasonable which was quite the opposite. I was doubting myself for not drinking the kool-aid. It's nice to know that I'm not being delusional and there's a logical explanation for it. ✌

    When I was a Pentecostal Christian, and I had a personal relationship with my lord and savior JC, I never felt sooooooo alone! I was a much younger man and had many conflicts in life. I always prayed long and hard for answers. None ever came, ever! It took years for me to realize all my problems and conflicts were being solved by my devotion to myself and my family and our hard work we spent together! There was never any supernatural intervention. I’m a very logical person and I am not gullible enough to think that god puts answers inside my head. If he is able to do what the Bible says he can then he can speak to me so my ears can hear it. I would spend days looking for signs as answers to my prayers. What a waste of time. Thank you Seth for all your good work. I have found far more answers regarding religion in 1 of your videos then I could have ever found waiting for god to help or asking my pastor. 👍🏻

    Even though I’m not an atheist I enjoy listening to Seth immensely, reminds me to live in the here and now. I also enjoy reading your your comments, this helps me to understand the world I live in even more, I celebrate the diversity of the human animal. When I say “the world” I literally mean the world, not my world. I’m 68, I came around to my way of thinking several years ago. I’d had several events that took place in my life to help sway me to my personal way of understanding, that’s “my” way of thinking, I don’t ascribe to other’s understanding. I believe each to their own, barring harm to others, and I’m most definitely not gonna tell you I’ll pray for you, Lol . I also believe the Bible has been changed, added to, taken from and translated so many times it bears no resemblance as to what the unknown authors intended. I don’t believe “God ordained” the writings or translations of it either. I admire all of you for standing up for your beliefs and speaking out. Edit: just thought I’d add… I don’t remember seeing anywhere in the Bible where it says, “thou shall not say shit”. As usual, I’ll be back.

      I hate to admit it, but I feel the exact opposite. I don't think there is anything after this, but that bothers me. I don't believe in God, or any god, but I don't know if there's no such thing as an afterlife, either. There's a good chance we humans are not the center of the universe, but as complex and versatile and multifaceted as we are, and this is all we get? I'm not so sure. This is a thought that tortures me night day. Seth says he fully accepts and is fine with this life being all there is, but I'm not. Granted, I've only recently confronted my non-faith, but this particular thought has been ever present in my mind for at least four or five years.

    A broad view from outside: In Christianity, the action that damned Adam was sharing, and the action that saved his descendants was torture. And we are to think a being that sends us that message is a good and loving one.

    In the late 90’s, Ken Ham was the key speaker at our church for some reason. My dad was the preacher so Ken Ham stayed at our house for the weekend. Very odd man.

    I recently learned what "optimistic nihilism" is. The idea that this life is all you get so it's the most precious thing you have is one that I have come to live by.
    About happiness: I think atheism is just a better way to live because it prepares you better for reality.

    Seth, to continue your analogy on how coffee and music having meaning even though they end. Imagine having to listen to that song forever or only being able to drink coffee, eventually you get sick of song or beverage. The same will go for eternal life. You may enjoy a millennium or two, but then boredom will make living forever a mighty punishment and you will be begging for it to end.

    Awesome. I have struggled for years of whether there is a god or not. You make a lot of sense in how you explain the instances that help cause you to walk away from Christianity not in just this video but the many others. I would not go back to the magic either. Thanks for all you do.

    Saving a couple quotes...
    "The universe doesn't give a shit whether or not I exist, and that's just fine." Surprisingly, not that hard of an idea to adopt. "It just means and what we do with and for each other becomes all the more critical."

    I love the theist "purposeless life" argument. They're so blissfully unaware of their own purpose. The theist's purpose is twofold: 1 die, and 2 kiss their sky daddy's feet forever.
    I like my purpose a whole lot better: live a good, useful life right here. Do good for other living things. It adds a lot of value to the only life we have.
