5 years after making this video it is still the only one I could find that covers the installation. Very helpful and now I am much more comfortable drilling into the fence of my new saw. Thanks!
Thank you; you’re a life saver. Yours is the only video I’ve found that actually shows how to do the install. JessEm should just link to your video to clarify their instructions. Awesome.
Great 👍 instruction. Thanks for that! Realizing how easy that was, I’m now scratching my head asking myself why I bought that 150 pound Magswitch pair to complement the Jessem guides? It’s as if the influence of all the videos was the standard when I find no videos explaining “why” these stock guides would interfere with fence jigs. Perhaps those multitude of woodworking influencers wish to sell their sawstop and want it in pristine condition when the gig is up on UA-cam? Perhaps it’s the red sawstop label that would be obstructed on the fence during filming? I don’t know. But the solution is the problem here. I’m now convinced no current or future jigs I make would conflict with my Jessem clear cut guides. Your experience obviously shows well. More common sense videos like these please. Thanks again. We all are a sucker sometimes 😂
I was not going to subscribe until at the end when you broke out the Milwaukee tool. Your enthusiasm for tools is great and I share the same giddy happiness when looking at or using tools. Great job! (And thanks for the instructions on the Jessem)
You have more guts than I have. I was hesitant to drill into my sawstop fence so I used the alternate method of attaching the stock guide track to a piece of 3/4" MDF which is held on the fence by mag switches (and idea I ran across on UA-cam). Works well and is very easy to remove/replace. Was afraid I wouldn't like it so didn't want to make the ultimate commitment! Having used the stock guides for about a year now I can say they are game changers . Perhaps it is time to make the installation permanent. BTW I also made a special push stick/block which is a piece of plywood about 3" wide, just under 1/2" thick and about 20" long. Perpendicular dowel provides the handle. Fits under the guides in most cases. If not I can usually turn it sideways and push the material through the cut.
From one Mike to another, I just want to say THANK YOU! I saw all those other videos showing the product, but I found the install instructions confusing. Your video really helped me out!
I've been all over You Tube looking at these guides and you're the first place I heard about the first hole being a drill guide for the second set of holes...thank you sir!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a hard time reading directions and the Jessem directions were so confusing. Without out your video it would of been a botched install. This made my day a heck of a lot easier. Owe you a cigar!
Mike, this is my first time ever watching one of your videos and I have to say that I was thoroughly entertained! You popped up in my “recommended” videos and I am interested in the jessem feed rollers for my saw, so I was willing to give you a watch. I love how raw your video was, not over edited or full of fluff. You moving the camera back and forth, fumbling a bit and even lighting your cigar cracked me up for some reason. Maybe because it showed that your just like the rest of us and you’re real. I say all of this truly as a compliment! You strike me as the type of guy I’d like talk to for an afternoon. Keep up the good work, I’m sure I’ll be sure to check out some of your other videos. Thanks!
Joseph Miller thank you very much, I think that is one of the nicest comments I have received!!! That is exactly how I wanted to run my channel exactly as if I was working by my self in my business or shop. I only edit 5% of my videos, all my content is real time make a mistake fix it and move on. If you would like to talk my e mail is always in the description just shoot me a e mail and I will send you my number. I’m out of Florida. Thanks again Mike
Thanks. Was apprehensive drilling into my Sawstop fence. Will drill tomorrow. Any tips for the sliding table? My back fence on the sliding table keeps knocking into the cast iron table top if the saw
Great Video! Like you I've not seen one video on installing the Clear cut. Thank you for a excellent instructional video. Also like the thread rod cutter. That is a great tool. Like you I've tried a lot of tricks to try to cut it without damaging the threads and having to "recut them".
Very good vid. Do you think that the unit would fit on most fences that are at least 2” wide? With my fence I don’t have an inset like the saws top. It would have to ride on top of the fence??
I didn't see any explanation of the position of the JessEm track longitudinally. Did you center it along the length? Or was there a logical stop on the "front" (far side in your video) to set the end of the track?
Hi Mike I have a sawstop to with mine I have a sawstop sticker on the top of the fence what did you do.Did you take the sticker off? You know how you use 12 inch spacer was that so you could get the jessem rail middle of top of sawstop fence. I love your work you do top man you are.i like your workshop superb. Iam using magswithes on my jessem clear cut.
Mike, the tool you are using that I really like is the tray you are laying the JessEm screws, the cut rods and nuts. My biggest frustration with the MFT3 Workbench is dropping screws and nuts though the workbench holes. Adding a cup holder to your tray would eliminate another frustration.
I picked up an extra rail (~$40 shipped) so I could mount it to my router table fence (t-track) and use the guides for router activities. That way I can leave the original rail on the table saw fence and the router fence rail easily comes off to store when not needed. The table saw guides work great in addition to my router guides from Jessem, so I have 4 points of contact when routing large workpieces. Keeps things very stable, especially when doing groves and end grain rabbits.
Hey Mike, what about holding your rod cutter upside down when cutting from above? I am wondering if you have to have the cutter running along side the rod for it to work correctly. Just a thought.
Many thanks mike I have purchased the JessEm clear- cut TS stock guides for my incra router table but I am having problems finding any video to help But many thanks for as always helpful video
Hey Mike, some guys have put the guides on plywood & have magswitches on each end. This way they can take it on. Some guys have other jigs that slide over the fence
Hey. Thanks for the great video. You did a great , great job. 1 question for you though.... what is the Max Capacity from the top of the table to the bottom of the roller once mounted in place? My sawstop, like yours cuts 3" thick stock. I obviously want to be able to utilize the entire blade at times thus needing the guides 2 b 3 --3 1/2" off the face of the table. Mike u did a great job on the video and I really enjoyed it. Great, great, great! AJ LOZICA Asheville NC
Hey Mike, you mentioned something about cutting your fence at one time in this video. I have the Saw Stop PCS, 1.75 horse power. The fence that came with my Saw does not look like the fence that you have. I talk to the guys over it Woodcraft and they said the other saw for the bigger tables. Did you cut your fence down to fit your Saw or was I misunderstanding what you said. Thanks for your help on this
I can just imagine Mike on the street going up to random people sayin, "Hey there, how you doin, have you seen this Milwaukee threaded rod cuttah? Just get a load of this thing!" * whiirrrrrr - Mike looks at them, raises eyebrows *
Noah lol I picked it up int the morning from my supply house. We had two jobs to go to and I showed it to both customers. At least they were in the trades. Thanks for the comment
Nice tool cuts threaded rod without jacking up the threads. But what I've always done is put a nut on first, make my cut then take the nut off this fixes the bent over threads. That or sand or grind the end. Whats that tool run about 300 bucks? 299.95. Cpo tools. By the way I love my milwalkie drills and saws. Its better then dewalt id used for 30 years plus they have pissed me off My XLR batteries lasted 2 years for my 12 volt you cant buy them anymore and the conversion kit only works on the 18 volt stuff. So I've got 2 drills that are useless now. The milwalkie has more power its smaller and runs a hell of a lot longer on a charge and works in sevral tools.including my string trimmer. I can drill saw trim cut slice dice grind hell its better then Ronco!
Hewitt Gordon I’ve owned my SawStop for about two years now 1 3/4 HP 36” table. I would never use another saw. It has never failed me on anything I cut, the quality of the material is excellent, the ease of building is so fast. This is why I have invested in the sliding table and router. I probably will be buying the folding out feed table. I hope this was helpful. One more thing, they are now owned by Festool. Thanks for the comment Mike
Hey Mike I just bought one of these but my table top on my industrial saw stop is 30" instead of 27" is that gonna make it too short or do i need a track at 33".
I bought one just a few weeks ago whwn it was on sale otherwise couldnt justify the cost. Little did know that even a good idea/product can be limited by its weakest link. The set i received only had 4 socket screws with wing nuts even though there are 8 holes made for them. There are 4mon each side of the aluminum extrusion and in order to remain ridgid over the years it need secure hold down. Well apparently spending over $250 did not justfy adding 8 screw sets vs half. Shame thst the customer service was zero help. I remain loyal to companies with good customer service but that was not my experience so will be returning product.
Sorry id use my drill and set the clutch so I dont over tighten. Thats 1018 metal Or hot rolled steel low carbon and soft screws if you turn to hard they will shear off the heads. If you do sheer one off just back it out with channel locks or drive it in. Then use the spare. Whys your fench rattle? Keep the kids entertained.
Ok i know ive posted a bunch but thats made for electrician installing a lot of struts for Condit to lay on. GASP. Wtf how's he know? I used to work in a machine shop I helped install a lot of 480 3 phase track. We used 6 and 8 foot buss bars that was 40 years ago. Yes you guys can afford to blow 365 bucks on a tool. Milwalkie tools are geared for pros in both plumbing and electrical ive gotten 2 carptners to start using the brand.
Pick it up drill holes mount and use. Who reads the directions? Seriously its not critical. If you mostly cut on the left side of your fence just slide the track all the way to the right side and be done with it eyeball north south drill the holes and screw them in. Done. Works as intended. The only time it might be an issue if you cut on the right side of the fence but the bars slide right out of the mounts becuse its going to be in your way anyway. Im not sure if they can be used on the right side of the fence becuse the angle and wheel directional functionality without some deep thought they might but i don't know without owning a set of them. Dam you've spent 35 40k on tools at least. No task you cant do. Well with that much invested why not a feilder sliding table saw? You get a 5 in one machine. And feilder offers a blade stop saw now. No broken blade. No Carthage to replace the blade just stops and you dont even have to touch it. You get a planer 12" a 12" jointer a shaper, a router and table saw also sliding. Sure they cost as much as a compact car but its less foot print for machines in the shop. They are also built like a tank and hold there value. Doing sheet good no problem.
