Awesome work! That scene with the front car window always bugged me. Notice also next to them theres a factory that says "Texas industries Inc". About idea of changing trackers screen. Man there where LCDs at 80s, even for handheld devices! Mostly monochromatic, remember Gameboy? It was released in 1989, technology existed even earlier! Reason why tracker looks like this in the movie - plain budget decision, it's short scene, in times where there was no CGI or AfterEffects, so props department had to come up with actual physical object to shoot, if they had time, budget and somebody with smart ideas then we had amazing props. No time no money, no one with imagination to create good stuff- we got orange lines with red dot. Also you could put there anything you want cos it's science fiction story, story about cybernetic Jesus, they hadn't any of those in 80s as far as I know. You fix screen to be more plausible in a story about cyborg-cop. And it's one of reasons why classic Star Wars where so amazing, Lucas managed to gather best guys at fields of design, best prop department, and visionary special effects specialists. But mostly it's design that wins the day, and choosing to show stuff that looks great, cut the rest.
Great job.after all these years I never noticed the targeting grid not filling the whole screen. One scene that would be good to see fixed is the bouncing stunt man when Robo punches him out of the window.
I saw this movie when I was about 11, a friend said he had a laser disc version that his dad had got from America and somehow converted to vhs, so he put it on and of course i was totally blown away, wanting to watch it again I found it was going to be on tv, I had a tv in my bedroom, I put it on and could not believe how badly cut it was, even the uk vhs version was cut to pieces, until years later its in virtually every modern blu ray copy plus online.
I know this is an older video of yours and you're unlikely to reply, but given the content of the scene, I honestly believe it's fine and possibly intentional that he blinked when the mask was put on. Murphy was conscious up until the point of his family waving goodbye in his mind and that blink may have been the last bit of strength he had. Maybe making it look like his eye was closing and slightly rolling back would've been more like a subtle twitch prior to death? Love your work, very well done with all of it.
Fantastic job! The original Robocop is one of my favorite movies as well. Another film you could try, if you haven't already, is T2, as there are tons of errors in that movie.
re: the pda-like tracker They definitely had LCD display technology back in the 80s but also later in the movie they show the tracker again and it's got a proper moving picture-- it might've been possible to use that as a reference?
Thank you for this video, your work and explanations are fantastic. In Robocop the one thing that bothered me the most was how they screw down the grid over his face/eyes. I always expected that with each corner that they fully screw down that the angles of the grid would change slightly rather than moving closer every time at the same angle. Could this be improved any? Maybe an out of focus misaligned grid that lines up and comes into focus and lines up correctly over the 4 screw down motions.
Man this was awesome Robocop has always been one of my faves and I watched it when I was about 11 and like you it stayed with me. Awesome work this so talented
Great work! The gun jam always bothered me, and the wonky Ronnie Cox maquette and LED tracker was just funny. The rest of them I never noticed before so thanks for ruining my next RoboCop viewing 😂 I have one more error that I have no idea how to visually fix. When they install his Heads Up Display the technician screws it in place into each corner of the frame. The ‘grid’ just gets bigger with each corner tightened. It might look cinematically elegant but it’s inaccurate.
Oh I know... unfortunately to fix that grid would be near impossible...well not impossible....just days and days at the computer...is it worth it? not sure
This is undoubtedly one of the greats, thank you so much for this video, it was super fun. Over the years, and over many viewings, I have noticed many of those same mistakes. Great work.
Have to say some of these I hadn't noticed like the blink and the target not going all the way to the right, despite watching it possibly as much as you. Really clever stuff in this too, was surprised that it was fixes rather than a remastering as I went in expecting.
the ending is the only thing i really wanted to see fixed. good stuff with adding ronnys face. but to go 1 extra step, there should be falling glass added to the shot. you clearly see glass from the window shattering outward in the shot before.
One particular scene that I spotted an error in is during the steel mill scene. As Clarence and the gang come to their first initial stop you see Murphy up on the bridge area to the right of the screen. As he walks into shot he’s holding in his right hand what appears to be the piece of metal that he later throws onto the ground to get the attention of Clarence and his goons. The camera then cuts closer to Robocop and the very same hand is now empty, allowing him to pick up the very same piece of metal that had mysteriously disappeared from the previous clip as he then throws it normally. It’s bugged me for years. I hope that makes sense ;0)
@DOUBLE ‘O’ PRODUCTIONS are you going to update this using the new uhd blu ray as the source because not only are the theatrical cut scenes improved the unrated cut looks like it should have looked in the first place it’s a huge improvement.
Amazing work on all of these! #Subscribed! Horrifying though it might sound: I've never thought the blink was meant to be a mistake. It's not made _entirely clear_ How much of Murphy is left in there. It's left up to the audiences interpretation. However, I believe that blink/twitch was left in, to make that bit of subversion on the directors part all the more uncomfortable. That said, anyone who feels this IS an error now has another option and that's awesome.
I do have a suggestion to make, so in Robocop 2 his armor although more blue it's also polish very neat and crystal clear, in this film his armor is silver of course, can you update the silver to a more crystal grey polish just like in the 2nd Robocop film because he looks a bit dirty as if he was built from a 3rd party garage, I always wanted to see the silver high tech and polished.
isnt he still alive but barely in the hospital, so he'd still have refex action so its not far fetched that he'd blink, granted it does look better redone, but thank you so much for fixing Jones's arms when hes falling, that was the one effect that irritated me lol
In the targeting system you fixed the gap on the right but I think you missed the gap on the left. Granted it's tiny but with the fix, now the gap on the left is noticeable.
Awesome. Dick's arms still looked weirdly gangly for some reason. And, would like to have seen using AI frame fill to improve the fluidity of the stop motion ED209.
It all looks nice, but the map tracker texture looks too sharp when compared to the rest of the original frame (it should match the blurriness of "SECTOR G-12"), especially in the wide-angle shot, and since you've used all of the LED frames, it _still_ looks like there's a hole in the prop through which a physical light shines through. And the Dick Jones sequence, I believe, looked that way because of the lens type used, so since you've isolated him from the background anyway, you could've just applied a global warp modifier to shrink his arms.
Ow dear - What wonderful job you did and with so much love! I really love what you did with the screen on the tracking device. I wish they did these corrections and re-release all these 80s classics. People hated Lucas for tinkering with Star Wars movies and CG editing them, but I believe as long as it is done the way you're doing it here It's all good. I totally support it because CG here is not used to change the movie, the changes are done in support of the movie's greatness! One thing that I also love people did online was the smoothing of stop-motion animation on Terminator and ED 209
Yes I completely agree... preservation of the original is KEY.... I also love the smoothing of the stop-motion animation..I haven't included that here as I didnt do it but I definitely include it in my final cuts of the films.
The shot that always niggles me (and should be fairly easy to fix with a previous plate) is the final scene of Bodikker clutching his neck after Robo stabs him, there's a crew member watching from the distance, clearly in full view on the right of the screen.
Amazing work. One thing that has always annoyed me in the movie was Robo's neck, especially in scenes when he rotates his head, it clearly shows Peter Weller's neck with black material between the suit's neck and torso elements. Also, there were moments where his glove detached from the rest of the arm, especially when he was lifting something.
Рік тому
The only other effect that always bothers me is the visible strings on ED-209’s rockets.
7:10 - The motion blur on the Sector G-12 text is not consistent with the new city grid image. Could you fix that or just remove the text? I don't think it's relevant to the plot, it's just being shown to tell us he's being tracked at all times. 13:55 - The legs also look elongated. IMO they should also have been fixed.
Why didn't you use the same tracker animation that was used when Robocop was going to arrest Dick Jones at OCP Tower? It moved and looked better than the one in the scene in the police station.
I know what you're saying.... And perhaps I'll replace it soon.. I just liked the idea that Dick would have some second-rate tech to monitor Robocop... some sort of hash-job
I usually don’t comment but this is quite good, one problem I noticed is Dick Jones’ face when he is falling. It doesn’t seem natural, a bit off. This might be due to the fact you sourced an image of his face which is at an angle, one possible fix is to remake his face from a number of shots. For example you could get a shot with his mouth open and another shot with his eyes either wide open or closed. You could also change the frame rate of the puppet to 120 to make it smoother. These are just things to consider and I’m not telling you what to do, thanks for your time -Scott

Hi Movie Fix I've watched many of your fix video's now and you have done an amazing job on all of them, but for your next project I was wondering if you'd be willing to take on one of my all time favourite Sci-Fi action movies of the 1980's and that's PREDATOR... although an awesome movie we all know the movie has it's annoying flaws that does need to be addressed and fixed, like for instance... when Mac crushes the scorpion it's facing one way but then when Mac lifts his foot up the scorpion is facing the opposite direction, then there's the issue when Hawkins gets killed by the Predator as he turns around and the camera is on the Predator approaching Hawkins you get that really slow and frame rated clunky movement of the Predator while cloaked as it comes at the camera, that to needs to be fixed so the movement looks more normal speed and fluid and smooth and not so slow and clunky and frame rated, the other issues I'd like to see get fixed in the movie are the times when you do see the Predator cloaked in some shots all you see is a roundish head and no dreadlock's cause if you watch the making of the movie it's a stunt guy wearing an orange coloured foam suit but they never added orange coloured foam dreadlock's to the stunt suit so when the Predator is cloaked you don't see it's dreadlock's like you do in the more recent Predator movies, so I was wondering if you could also fix that issue, the other issues that need fixing are when Arnie comes out of the water after his swim and he lays in the mud, we all know he only lays in the mud on one side of his face his left side so his right side has no mud on it nor does his right arm and then after he hears the Predator jump in the water you see in the next scene Arnie crawling to the branches to hide as the Predator comes out the water but you see all of Arnie's body completely covered in mud so is there any way you could address and fix that at all so it looks like Arnie laid in the mud with all his head and front of his body?... now the last two issues I really feel need to be fixed is the scene when Arnie runs from the Predator after setting that grenade off in the cave he was lay in and then he runs and jumps to grab hold of the tree branch that's hanging over the water and it snaps on him making Arnie land in the water washing all of the mud off... well if you look closely at that scene the tree branch that Arnie runs and jumps for are completely two different branches in two scenes, ones a slightly crooked branch and then in the next scene as he jumps for it the branch is totally straight... yeah I really pick up on these things huh? LOL... anyway onto the last thing that I feel needs to be fixed is when the Predator takes off his helmet to then fight Arnie in hand to hand combat, just as the Predator slides his mask up to take it off I've always felt he's revealing to much of the mouth and the teeth and mandibles completely ruining the surprise of what the Predator really looks like before the big reveal after the Predator drops his Bio Helmet into the water... I've always felt that scene should of been shortened and cut so the Predator when it slides the bio helmet up you see just the bottom of it's chin and then cut to the next scene of the bio helmet dropping into the water only for then for the camera to go on the Predators face for the big reveal before Arnie says his iconic line.... You One Ugly Mutha F*cker! OK I'm done... I apologise if this is a handful and to much to ask for?... but I am hoping it can be done, and if so? I'd really love to see it when finished. 😎👍
This is great... Just read your paper on Predator whilst drinking morning Coffee... I need a complete change of pace with something new so yes I've decided we'll do TWO McTiernan films next.. Predator and Die Hard
@DoubleOProductions HELL YEAH... Thank you so much for taking the time with your morning coffee to read my post and for accepting this great challenge to fix the issues with the Predator movie, I really appreciate you for this cause this has been a long time coming... oh man I can't wait to see the full finished version and see what you've done on Predator... And Die Hard is another great movie to so I'll be looking forward to that to.... anyway the one last question I just wanna ask about Predator... is there anything you can remember at all that I may of left out about the movie that also may need fixing?... I'm intrigued to know your imput. 😃👍
This was really awesome. Great job! I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the bad matte when Robo drives to Dick Jones. There’s a great matte painting city extension with an ugly splice in it. The top of Robo’s car with the lights is cutoff for a couple seconds.
Thank you... yes we looked at this shot and decided the only way to fix this was to update the entire matte painting...give it better lighting, more dept and animate it in a few places... will work on this soon as it will take quite some time to do it justice.
Beautiful work, but it was missing to restore it, in the last scene, right after Robocop shot Dick Jones, in the retraction of the weapon in the leg holster, where the OCP executives' "feet" appears. (sorry by my english).
Can you fix King Arthur (2004 film)? It has Continuity errors, Goofs where crew members/equipment visible, Frozen ice where it's actually plastic during the ice valley battle scene, people appearing and disappearing in between shots, etc?
Great work, for me I always had a problem with the way RoboCop L,E,D was attached to his head ,it's like they used a drill and where did they attach it to, and if my memory serves me right it was round
I know what you mean.... it should have been rectamgular.. and she says 'LED' which is llight emitting diode. so this should have been the thick circular part of robo's helmet that he looks through because what they are suggesting is that they've managed to attach something behind his eyes, optic nerves and eye sockets...and screwed it down in front yet finished behind!!????
It always annoyed me the scene where robocop shoots in the fire range and the gun get jammed. The Dick Jones fall too, thanks for the fixes: now we just need someone to incorporate in the full movie and release a torrent, so we can keep the fixed version.
I still think the Dick Jones falling looks janky, I'd love to see a shadow of something on the building as he falls and he's also too big when he hits the floor compared to the cars still loving these edits though guys, great job
I know.. But I must stay faithful to the original as close as possible. So his size is exactly as it appears in the movie but I do like the idea of a shadow.
I would leave the blink, since it's still alive at the ER, personally my fav scene since its a real trauma team there... the rest is really awesome, excellent and professional job... but well, i am not sure, when Murphy stabs Red Forman (lol). Looks like that there's a dude in the background. That (maybe) needs to be edited. Greetings.
I'm not sure if the gun jamming is necessarily a flaw, since guns can in fact jam sometimes, and adding the muzzle fire effect without gun recoil seemed a bit off. But great video nevertheless.
we did add the recoil as well as the flare.. if you look again you'll see the top of the gun recoiling backwards just as it does with the other gun shots.. we just didnt mention adding the recoil in the video.. thanks for your positive comments.
With the new tracker, the replacement bothers me more cause it doesn't have the same level of softness, camera and motion blur that the surrounding scene does.
You missed falling rear view mirror in Clarence's 6000 SUX at arount 1h:25m mark, when Emil and Joe were playing with the Cobra cannons, Nash yells "Allright, cut the horseshit!" and claps Clarence's car and mirror falls off. Also, there are few more "RoboTracker" shots.
Nice job. I know that the continuity on the van-chase scene is all over the place, so it would be a lot of work to fix all of them, but ... If you fixed the windshield then you might as well do something about the emergency light (not sure if that is the proper name, the red/blue lights on top of the police car), which was also shot and half of it is destroyed then in the later scene it is brand new. Just a suggestion, don't worry too much about it :)
I imagined the targeting being red (as this is the colour of laser guided gun sights) or like yul brynner's pixated vision in WEST WORLD. (notice how much Peter Weller looks like Yul Brynner when he removes the helmut) I always think ironic. Do you ever reply to your comments section?
Indeed i do from time to time... there is one more fix that bugs me.... when he uses and electric drill to remove the screw from the left side of his helmet, it's clearly behind his helmet as the screw does not follow a perfectly horizontal trajectory and this bugs the heck out of me!
In the tracking scene where the 4 eyed lady goes give me a grid and then says record, the geek makes ah ah ah sounds in various pitches. But the playback seems to be totally different pitched than what should have been recorded. That bugged me for over 35 years.
When he records it the man says bring it up 50%... I can only assume he mean bring the pitch up 50%.... Although it could be due to the video playback... Because video has a different frame rate, footage was always slightly sped up on playback which means the pitch would be higher.... It always bugged me as a teenager looking at the runtime of Jaws on vhs being 116 min... Yet the film is 120min long.... Always used to think it had been censored... Not the case... PAL vhs runs at 25 frames per sec whereas film is 24 frames per sec so vhs effectively squeezed one more frame per sec thus cutting the running time down and also having a slightly higher pitch on dialogue...
Now if only you could fix some of the movie's editing. That part where Murphy first encounters the bad guys at the end of the film where he already was holding the piece of metal that he picks up to throw as a distraction moments later, for example. Once you see that, you can not unsee it.
look again...it's his gun in his left hand that he's holding as he picks up the metal with his right....4k shows this much more easily than the old vhs or dvd...
@@DoubleOProductions No, you look again. In the shot before they show him pick up the metal with his right hand with the baddies and vehicle moving towards the camera, they show Murphy at the top of the screen in the background walking to the left already holding that metal in his right hand.
Re: Dick Jones’ fall, IMHO, the original background plate looks so fake too, it’d be better to redo the whole shot in CGI with a digital double. (Easier said than done.)
Terminator would be a good choice, RoboCop was my favourite when I was young, also, there are several scenes in Total Recall that could use a fix, the female mask that opened is one such scene

@DOUBLE ‘O’ PRODUCTIONS are you going to update this using the new uhd blu ray as the source because not only are the theatrical cut scenes improved the unrated cut looks like it should have looked in the first place it’s a huge improvement.
we used the UHD 2019 version as the source before doing any alterations...
@@DoubleOProductions I know i was asking if you might do an update using the new and improved actual uhd blu ray as a source.
@@DoubleOProductions there's a new UHD
Nice work!
Maybe it's there and I just can't see it, but shouldn't the bloody gunshots be visible on the maquette of Dick Jones?
"CUT! CUT! ... Come on you BLINKED! Your suppose to pretend you are dead! Now we will have to re-do it!"
isnt he still alive but barely in the hospital, so he'd still have refex action so its not far fetched that he'd blink, granted it does look better redone, but thank you so much for fixing Jones's arms when hes falling, that was the one effect that irritated me lol
This needs more views. So interesting
Am I hearing the voice of actor Richard Madden?! That’s awesome to hear he’s a huge Robo fan!
Great work.
So cool to watch it! Thanks for your work 🙏🏻
Any chance you could animate flesh and blood that is bubbling up and dripping off emil when he covered from head to toe with toxic waste
These are just things to consider and I’m not telling you what to do, thanks for your time
-Scott
When Clarence is stabbed in the neck there is a crew member visible behind the upside down car, I see it every time 😅
omfg this is incredible
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
What would replace your servo motor so electrical impulse systems the guidance system has been destroyed well we program your electrical circuits and impulses in your brain programming
where can i get a copy of this and batman 89/returns
This was really awesome. Great job! I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the bad matte when Robo drives to Dick Jones. There’s a great matte painting city extension with an ugly splice in it. The top of Robo’s car with the lights is cutoff for a couple seconds.
Thank you... yes we looked at this shot and decided the only way to fix this was to update the entire matte painting...give it better lighting, more dept and animate it in a few places... will work on this soon as it will take quite some time to do it justice.
I look forward to seeing it. Keep up the amazing work
Beautiful work, but it was missing to restore it, in the last scene, right after Robocop shot Dick Jones, in the retraction of the weapon in the leg holster, where the OCP executives' "feet" appears. (sorry by my english).
hi. thanks for your reply... i've checked and I'm having difficulty seeing the 'feet'
Can you fix King Arthur (2004 film)? It has Continuity errors, Goofs where crew members/equipment visible, Frozen ice where it's actually plastic during the ice valley battle scene, people appearing and disappearing in between shots, etc?
Sublime work! Loved it.
BRILLIANT!!!!
Brilliant work!
Greetings.
you make video editing look easy c: good job!
Great job! Love it. Needs a remastered release now.
Ha ha... doesn't it just... not long now before we put it out there
Brilliant work! Unfortunately there's no working link now. Does anyone know a way?
You forgotYou forgot one. The "extra" above Clarence's overturned car at the end.
Hell yeah dude this is awesome
Thank you taco ghost...glad you enjoyed..
Could you have tackled the robos disappearing chin guard at all?
Hi Alex..please point out where this happens during the film...thanks.
With the new tracker, the replacement bothers me more cause it doesn't have the same level of softness, camera and motion blur that the surrounding scene does.
that's mainly why we ditched it and just updated the old one as it appears in the movie... ua-cam.com/video/C_laab1jQ1g/v-deo.html
@@DoubleOProductions I love that. Sometimes the simple tricks work best. You do some very interesting work.
Murphy blinked cause he wasn't dead it is not a mistake I reckon
You missed falling rear view mirror in Clarence's 6000 SUX at arount 1h:25m mark, when Emil and Joe were playing with the Cobra cannons, Nash yells "Allright, cut the horseshit!" and claps Clarence's car and mirror falls off. Also, there are few more "RoboTracker" shots.
Watching RoboDoc currently!
Fixing Top Gun (1986)? Replace F5 for MiG28
You shld me a couple of things I never noticed so thanks lol
Great work - all of it. Thank you
Our pleasure!
Excellent work!
One movie that is a masterpiece but also has a lot of errors that would be a great video is Terminator 2 Judgement day
I will pay you for a 4kish/high def directors cut updated this way and sent to me. No joke.
Nice to use Ronny Cox's screaming face from Total Recall.
At 4.30 Lewis made bullet holes in the centre of the target yet at 4.32 they are in a different order. Possibly one more to correct great job though
Terminator would be a good choice, RoboCop was my favourite when I was young, also, there are several scenes in Total Recall that could use a fix, the female mask that opened is one such scene
Are the RoboCop and Ghostbusters fixed versions already available?
Legendary Man 😎🙏
You missed the police lights being shot up when you did the windscreen on the 1st repair. Other than that great job.
Nice shootin' son, whats your name?
just , awesome job!
