You know what else is a waste of resource, you making this video. I dont need to watch your 17 minute video to know your build is hot garbage. I also want to point out, that the main point of building millions of iron skin is so that you would never recast it more than two to three times on non endurance missions, and if you do run on endurance missions it will last you more than 5 minutes. Yes its not the best for Level Cap there are other frames for that but you also have to remember that Rhino is an old ass frame that is going to be reliant on augments unlike newer frames. Your non augment build is really trash because recasting iron skin only to be gone in under 5 seconds is garbage and not actually benefitting from Overguard which is the status immune. Not to mention the tools we now use to achieve it is so doable now, its not rocket science. Nevertheless, your rhino your build but dont go around praising your build is the better one because its not.
hnnnng yes daddy hit me with those hateful comments anyway just cuz I'm a keyboard warrior at heart: - if you'd have actually watched the vid you'd have seen I was demonstrating a fairly unrealistic worst case scenario there, in the Circulus demo I cast the ability like 4 times total. for the vast majority of content, it's still very low-effort. - recasting occasionally on reaction is less of a pain in the ass than periodically seeking out clumps of enemies to do the armor-buffing ritual on anyway imo - you really gonna sacrifice 3 mod slots and 2 abilities just so you don't have to press 2 as often and then tell me my build is hot garbage? ok lol
@@Malurth youre definitely right bro I actually built that parasitic build and hated it for that very reason. Haven't played much of rhino since but this build im gonna make right now lol
rhino is what you run when you just want to enjoy your guns. I was running that exact mission earlier today and I was doing it with an ancient speed rhino build (rhino prime with every speed mod and the special helmet) and I had no problems staying alive.
avenger does proc on overguard damage now, btw so you can totally rock combat discipline and avenger to make him an even more ridiculous weapons platform
Genuine questions, I may be stupid, but why run combat discipline if your overgaurd triggers it anyway? Just for consistency? And if you are running combat discipline, why does it matter if damage to his overguard triggers avenger?
Rhino may not be fancy but you get immortality, damage, CC, and chunkiness in a neat package. With the new eximus type, you don't even need to do a rain dance to get a billion overguard, you just have to t-pose under their orbital lasers
Jade light eximus is a shadow buff for rhino, while they aren't as insane as they were you still get insane amounts of iron skin by recasting it while standing in the light.
So, discrepancy I feel should be noted for why some Rhino veterans might feel… weird or defensive over big armor. Before Overguard was a thing, rhino suffered from a very big flaw with his iron skin, if it took enough damage to destroy it, any damage left over would carry to Rhino themselves, mix with iron skin being a relatively chunky skill to recast unless you go full efficiency and/or energy, and people just couldn’t really play rhino safely in high level missions. The rhino charge augment and iron shrapnel augments are in my opinion features that probably in weaker states would have been fantastic addendums for a rhino rework/tune up. Now that rhino skin is classified as Overguard, there is a few seconds of invulnerability after rhino skin is destroyed. While rhino skin being classified as Overguard makes its interactions with other Overguard generating abilities much more easy, I did like when it was its own thing lol. But I digress. I have built my rhino prime with high strength and armor with good duration as well, and more often than not replace his 4 via helminth with an ability that provides the means for elemental damage because I can then remove elemental mods from my weapon builds. It is not the most efficient way to play, but it works for me and feels right, because even up to level 400 enemies I have enough armor to survive most engagements without feeling some nervousness that I’m gonna get insta-killed. I think the build path labeled here is pretty good, I also know I likely won’t play rhino necessarily this way because I don’t like having to constantly refresh iron skin in most mission types. Good video sir.
Even when overguard first came to frames (Kullervo) Iron skin wasn’t considered overguard! Rough times. I used mirage with shield gate as my go to weapons platform back then. I really love Rhino again though since the overguard change
also important to note is a lot of the stigma from vets of iron skin not being the best is from a time before shield gating as well, and only was somewhat alleviated with the augment (which was a must-slot before shieldgate) the worst feeling in the world as old school rhino was running around with a 1 or a 0 in your ability bar like "i could die at any moment and i have no clue how quickly that fate is coming"
In my opinion and my experience rhino does not need re work, he is powerful even when u play on high lvls even on lvl cap, well is good so far, im glad to see content about this wf. Cheers
@@chrisysdark id personally like to see just the charge and shrapnel augments be folded into his base kit, it would make him way more fluid, i love rhino but hes a bit boring if hes just a weapons platform
Made some homecooked Rhino builds when his Beetle skin released, and Max Range high Duration + Reinforcing Stomp is the most obsurdly strong support/emergency CC I've seen in this game. It just shuts down the entire map for like 20 seconds.
Efficiency, casting speed. Easy 500k on your average star chart mission w/o investment. Also when the light is fresh, have it eat your iron skin and recast for even more.
@@darkmugetsu6572 the other day I was playing Rhino on circuit steelpath I got 68 million overguard by just standing below Jackal's special skill (laser walls). Also I was playing with someone else and he got 386 millions overguard. Delightful to watch.
man coming back to this game after a long ass time is like regressing to being a 3 year old child and taking a college nuclear physics class the entire time im just like "the fucks an archon mod? the fucks an arcane? WHAT ARE SHARDS? YOU CAN GIVE WARFRAMES OTHER FRAMES ABILITIES??"
This video proves the absolutely insane mindset the WF community has developed. Everyone bases their opinions of warframes based on what some big name person(ytber, tester, etc) that does endurance runs says which causes a MASSIVE misconception about how good a frame is because everyone thinks they HAVE to build their frame like that endurance runner does for it to be "good" otherwise its trash. This video helps prove that wrong. Remember guys... 99% of the content in the game does not require those stupidly min maxed niche builds for your frame to perform well.
I would like to point out that the majority of said gimmicky builds don't actually work at level cap. So they are even more useless.... There are very few content creators that make real and tested lvl cap builds, like Morning and GasTTV, Arthuss, Dystopia, Ninjase, WarframeFlo, etc... The one thing in common in most of them is simplicity and i frame abuse (Overguard, Shield gate spam, etc). Because it takes at least an 1:30h to get there minimum, no one one to micromanage so much stuff when one hit kills you... Even Anzvasion and Knightmare Frame don't make real lvl cap builds, since they are too cumbersome most of the time. They are good for the amount of info in their set ups, so learning new stuff and interactions, but most of their builds are too high maintenance.
@@abysswalker7712 almost like I just said in my comment "everyone thinks a build must be able to do endurance runs to be good" and your reply literally proves that. If the build works up to level 700-1200 enemies, who cares if it doesn't work to lvl 9999, other than endurance runners? We need to stop setting this precedent that a build must be able to do endurance runs to max level in order to be considered 'good' when the vast majority of the playerbase will never see enemies above level 1500 or so. You ever think that's why all those big youtubers don't make "real" lvl cap builds bc they know the vast majority of their viewers will never actually test the builds at lvl cap? But claim it will, for views. Which helps set this insane belief that lvl cap builds are the only "good" builds when even a build like this dude shows will get you through 99.9% of the content in the game.
@beardedzeus1337 I don't think you understood my comment well, but that's probably my fault, I could have worded that better. I am saying that the builds the community is following are useless, even if they are planning to run level cap, because they are to high effort and gimmicky, red crit mesa, rhino with all of those steps to reach high Overguard, even if a level cap enemy will obliterate any number of Overguard in seconds. People complained so much about Dante Nerf at launch, and he was still exceptional for normal content and more than fine level cap. There is nothing wrong with making a cap build if you like that type of content, but the majority of the builds the community is blindly following are not good, even for that content. The simple builds that you are talking about are the same ones people are actually using at cap, all you need is good energy economy and either Overguard spam or a shield regen spam, even Pillage works, just learn how to play the game and make builds for the content you are playing. Why bother with PSF if you are never going to die in a single hit at normal levels. Or Brief Respite, Augur set and Catalizing Shields if you won't ever play at levels where P Redirection and Adaptation would stop working. Why shield gate on Qorvex if he has over a thousand armor easily, you are never going to play at that high level. I hope that explains better what I tried to say before.
@beardedzeus1337 Didn't see you edited the reply, but the point I made is still the same, I guess. Though I would argue that builds that work at levels 700 to 1200 are level cap builds, there isn't that much difference between those levels and level cap. Just more HP values, which you would already be building to take into account, and at the 500s to 700s, health taking starts to fall off really hard on most frames without natural DR abilities, so you would start moving towards OG and SG spam builds. No normal player is reaching levels above 200s regularly, which is why I argued against blindly following those sh*t builds without learning how to play the game and why people use certain tools for those levels
The footnote adding "hey big number funny so if you're in it for that carry on" made me instantly respect the take. big number not waste if funny, big number only waste if you think you need it. Additionally: you gotta forma ALL your mod slots for maximum starting energy! who the hell uses yellow shards for starting energy? no one!
My personal favorite setup on rhino is using wyrd scythes over his 1, and then just getting tons of strength. The slow stacking with his 4 is disgustingly strong utility and CC. And then the roar platforms Boar incarnon amazingly.
I think you'd love my friend's Rhino. He has an old rare Arcane Speed Helmet and has put all the speed mods on his Rhino. He is usually faster than most Volts.
Ya know, every time i see a build video on a frame that i simply cant make work and then i see this i just go "am i just that dumb that i didnt think of this" witch yes i am.
Rhino, Mag, and Zephyr are all my favorite frames in the game atm, their base abilities are nothing special, but they are really good at holding their own, and can easily handle early Steel Path without even needing to use mods. They are all low investment and high rewards; and the option to invest highly in them is there, but not necessarily required to get good results.
dang I never thought of playing rhino this way. thanks for the vid. that definitely frees up a lot of slots and doesn't pressure me to do some rain dance setup just for the mission to end right when I get the useless big number. I can actually play the game with rhino
yeh I view him as a more offensive version of Rev, bigger roar + extra helminth slot to amp damage even more; but Mesmer Skin is still the defensive GOAT, especially with Mesmer Shield to make your whole team invincible.
I just picked him up yesterday, before watching this video, and I tried to build something different than "the usual tm" for him and I noticed all these things. 1) Rhino Stomp affects Eximus and Acolytes, which makes it one of the very few abilities that makes you able to worry less about those enemies. Other Warframes would subsume an ability just to deal with those enemies, and Rhino has it in his main kit. 2) Any Warframe would love having Roar in their base kit, and Rhino has the unnerfed version. 3) Any Warframe would like a built-in survivability tool. As you said, the community's conception of Rhino is heavily biased by big funny numbers but what the ability does at BARE minimum (assuming the iron skin gets depleted instantly) is that you have, most likely, something between 5.1 and 6 seconds of invincibility, not even counting how much the overguard actually lasts AND without investing in anything else. That's because there's the 3 seconds invulnerability from Iron Skin, then there's the Overguard-gate duration of 0.5 seconds where you're invincible, and then there's the shieldgate duration that goes from 1.6 (550 base shields) to 2.5 if heavily investing on shields. I actually like the Piercing Roar Augment by the way. First of all, it makes you able to recast Roar so you don't have to wait until it ends to refresh it, which is already a nice QoL. Then it actually does Crowd Control because it knockdowns enemies and gives some breathing room, which also means enemies are open to ground finishers (which might also unlock Arcane Trickery builds if you really want, other than giving easy executions to heavy units). Another great bonus of Piercing Roar is that it applies 5 Puncture status effects on all the affected enemies, which is the maximum stack. Enemies that suffer from 5 Puncture effects are more susceptible to Critical Chance from direct hits, which basically means you have a flat +25 chance of critting against enemies affected by Piercing Roar (puncture in general). That's helpful for any weapon because it's flat, it can make a crit weapon have an edge for higher crit tiers or make a non-crit weapon actually crit and get access to that critical multiplier which is almost always welcome (except for zariman incarnon weapons). Add this to Arcane Avenger and you basically get a 70% flat crit chance as long as you stay active in the mission. Boom, Rhino is a caster.
Rhino used to be miserable in high level content due to the lack of shield gating. But now with it gives him enough time to safely put his skin back on even while under fire, negating the need to use that one augment that lets him recast it while active. I think people are still stuck in that old mentality without considering the new mechanics.
I think that's the best part about warframe. I don't like using my energy every 10 seconds for Iron skin. I prefer using vazarin, deploy arch gun, use ironclad charge and get enough overguard to last me at least 2 min. Build rhino the way you want. No he doesn't need huge setup as he scales with enemies on his own.
As a Rhino main since I started. I applaud this video for just showing how good Rhino is without all the hoops and loops shenanigans most people post about. I personally just run the augments for his 1 and 2 to get good ironskins and go positive on all power stats for a well rounded build. Good stomp radius, high roar bonus still, and more ironskin then you'll realistically ever need still. Rhino is great due to how simple he is but how far you can take him. Again, good video demonstrating that aspect
Yep ever since shieldgate and overguard changes, I have also been running with Nourish and even a more "squishy" build than you (like I only have 8k overguard normally) since I basically invest all in strength instead and just kill everything before they can kill me and the iron skin will prevent anything from onetapping you. And I find it funny that Rhino technically will be more tankier the stronger the enemies are because of how iron skin works (millions of iron skin hp in Circuit with the Jackal laser walls that lasts until the next one lol)
I kind of miss when Stomp worked on Overguard. I had a max range build that I slapped Silence on that I called the 'Eximusterminator' build. It really saved some Steel Path Circuit runs.
Yeah this build really is possible due to the overguard and shield gating changes. Now that Rhino’s ironskin is overguard and both overguard and shields have decent gating duration, as long as you’re aware you can pretty safely recast to get another chunk of overguard to play with. This build is a really good reason why I think it’s way better to have usability instead of power. Unfortunately I won’t be using the same shard setup, I’ve been throttling a power strength build for him so I can turn Revenant’s reave into a oneshot so I would at least need 2-3 strength shards instead but I think with that I’d be able to free up some extra armor via mods elsewhere.
Ever since I got my rhino I've been running him for everything. I eventually subsumed Nekros and slotted terrify onto his 1 and then slapped on the nekros mod that puts speed reduction on enemies affected by terrify. I have thought about trying out silence on him though. Seems like it could be a fun time. I also put a lot of shields into his build for melee retaliation (Cerata and Glaive Prime), but given the recent changes I may be better off switching to melee influence and doing more interesting things with his mods besides boosting shields.
Awesome vid, great build. I also use nourish rhino, and do so really frequently. I changed from an old ironclad build I had from years ago and I went from almost never using rhino to using rhino more than any other frame. I do run the roar augment, though. Being able to recast is really comfy, especially if you are trying to cover squadmates. Plus, 25% addative crit from the puncture procs isn't bad.
I got to use rhino during a sp circut run. The crazy iron skin and roar you can get from the decrees is awesome. I haven't really used rhino in years but he is still my most used frame lol.
anyone with eyes can see that rhino was orgininally intented to be a weapons platform, massive bonus damage, basically invincible (unless you run out of energy lol) nourish to keep that energy up and reinforce the weapons platform buff
good point; technically Health Conversion over Energy Conversion and replacing all the blue shards with Str shards would more or less be a strict upgrade to the Battery setup I have going here (+900 Armor +50% Str vs. +1350 Armor +60% Str, with the Str being permanent). Health conversion stacks only go away on health damage so they'd be more or less permanent as well. but the whole reason I'm even using blue shards is just cuz I'm swimming in them and not reds; I think if I replaced those with reds I'd probably just revert to Flow + Molt Efficiency (leaving in Energy Conversion) over Health Conversion + Arcane Battery anyway. at that point using Battery to me feels like sacrificing a mod slot + arcane slot (HC + Battery) instead of just one mod slot (P. Flow). but yeah it's a solid choice, as I said before Molt Efficiency is pretty replaceable so if you'd prefer the higher energy pool/base overguard over optimizing Str/Dur you can go for that if you'd like.
I agree with the statements in this video about Rhino being amazing because Roar. Also we exist in a world with Melee Influence and Verglas status spreading along with amazing Gas, Blast, and Electric scaling, ALL double-dipping with Roar. 👍🏻 I love the Rhino love, and he deserves it.
sadly Nourish explosion doesn't trigger on overguard damage, so it tends to only proc when you first take shield damage right after your overguard gate fades. this is actually a very mild downside in my experience, as if you quickly Iron Skin back to invulnerability, enemies may still be staggered for a little bit before they resume attacking to stack your overguard up. but you do get a free viral proc too so it evens out.
I use a grouping ability on Rhino instead, it's not simply for Ironclad Charge. But for Duviri Decrees. Those buffs go crazy when added to Rhino, had like a 500% Roar some runs, no weapon is useless at that point. But Nourish might be fun.
Cool build. Not my preference. I don't mind the setup the other build uses cause you just refresh iron iron skin way fewer times over the course of a mission.
Nourish roar is great, but I would say that it is noteworthy that he can also do Roar with Thermal Transfer if you wanna go absolutely bonkers with blast damage
Updated video ? I used the one you posted a few days ago and been spamming Rhino since then , added archon cast speed and 30% energy on spawn , since I'm poor , the only thing is I would add parkour or movement speed and sacrifice some strength since +200% Roar feels an Overkill , but yeah thank you for your uploads ,
shhh you're not supposed to tell anyone about that video!! but yea if I intend to use guns I usually pick the Praedos as my melee for the free +30% Parkour speed. it'd be a fine choice to slot more in a shard or mod, too, those are pretty flex
Many years ago I used to run with rhino in index cos he was the best point carrier. I did use those 2 mentioned augments as well to get better iron skin, and I just had strong enough weapon for index so roar was not needed. Nowadays I just don't touch rhino one bit. If I want a weapons platform frame I usually pick between garuda, hydroid and frost. Yes all of those frames use hell of a lot more abilities than rhino who just keeps 3 buffs up on cooldown, but I still consider them weapons platforms because weapons kinda do all the heavy lifting, and the frames are all tanky and buff the weapon damage. Hydroid just gives a lot of corrosive damage and enables full strip, I usually run him with nourish. Frost as well, biting frost for weapon damage buffs, then just keep nourish on and spam 4 to win with red crits galore. Garuda I run with gloom and 2 emerald shards for full strip, as I don't really bother with her 4th ability one bit. She's the one who uses the least abilities and does the least damage out of these three, but also my comfort pick.
You can wait for a jade eximus to spawn and get tons of iron skin for free. Tbh Rhino can be built so many ways that you should just go for what is comfortable to you. Really can't go wrong.
I main Rhino, you should try my build: I use thermal sunder on him. Max efficiency (Streamline and rank 4 Fleeting) Stretch and Aug reach Prime continuity and Primed Flow Umbral Strength and Tauforged Strength shards in every slot. Molt Aug and the Arcane battery. I can kill a room full of steel path 150 heavy gunner eximus units in less than 10 seconds. Also the sentinel weapon Verglas and the Contagious bond mod with rhino roar, IM NOT JOKING, will kill a simulacrum full of 20 level 150 steel path heavy gunners by itself.
With the Jade Eximus you can get free 2m+ Iron Skin if you use it near the end of the Jade Light beam. Much easier than doing the "gather 70 bajillion enemies, Rhino Charge into them, do a gangnam style, 360 7 times, close your eyes and write down your name backwards vertically" method.
I play basically the same Rhino as you because it is simply the strongest way to play him (Reinforcing Stomp is so fake) but I recommend going back to Primed Flow instead of battery. With battery you need at least 3 archon shard slots too to achieve similar amounts of energy. Thats 4 archon shards and 1 arcane just to replace flow. Instead you could have Molt Vigor and 4 red shards for 105% more strength than you currently have. And as you said the extra Overguard doesn't really matter because Iron Skin scales with enemy damage, so the extra flat amount is really whatever. With that amount of additional strength just for using Flow Nourish gets so strong that Energy Nexus + Zenurik is heavy overkill. Molt Vigor works pretty well with Zenurik and Roar, every minute you need to refresh Zenurik, and that aligns almost perfectly with Roar duration. Doing this will just objectively power up your build by a lot :) because you essentially replace Energy Nexus with Flow and get 100% ability strength on top for free by adjusting Arcanes and Archons Rhino has another cool way to play him, that is very very viable IMO, its with Dispensary + Equilibrium. It's insanely good for modes like EDA, you can print your own ammo to use Archgun infinitely, or spam AoE weapons like the Zarr, it is functionally more energy than Nourish without having to use Zenurik. Equilibrium instead of Energy Nexus, and Energy Conversion goes crazy with Dispensary, so that part of your kit becomes more reliable. But you lose the Nourish damage of course. Rhino >>>>> Revenant btw, it seems close but when you think about it it really isn't
Molt Vigor is kind of a pain, I usually prefer Molt Efficiency there for lazy buff upkeep. but yea I said in the video I'd probably prefer Flow + strength shards over my current Battery + blue shards setup, I was just using it cuz I have way more blues than reds to spare and it's still pretty good. the dispensary build sounds fun. pretty niche tho, I have a bias against most deployables since they usually don't work very well if you're on the move :p
@@Malurth I also have way too many blues. Wtf are we even supposed to do with them. I've already gotten rid of flow on every frame in exchange for blues, I really understand your pain.. I used to feel the same about dispensary but it's not that bad in practice, as long as you pass by the spot you've placed it every minute you're completely fine
Only reason i built for Ironskin was just gor Index runs, and even then i didnt really enjoy parasitic skin. Preffered just having Energy Conversion for a small boost. Otherwise, just a casual max range Reinforcing Stomp enjoyer lel
My main issue is, for whatever reason, everytime I pop my iron skin, not a single enemy will shoot me, they will literally just sit there and wait for the absortion to run out, and then sneeze my couple hundred iron skin away... And it's even worse in multiplayer...
that's part of why blue shards are decent. getting about 8k extra overguard for free helps a good deal in that scenario. but it's not like enemy AI changes during the invuln period so that problem shouldn't really occur often.
Iron skin is wild. Its 3s of invuln, with 3s of os, then the shield break, then your shields, then your shield break. Then you iron again. 10+s of unkillable
I still think that some augment like Iron Shrapnel make him better. Check for example this alternative build "OZ19uoRqSrw". And with Jade update it even more accessible. I'm only wondering if we can now have negative overguard? (integer overflow)
ah, I see, thx. that certainly is an interesting build, tho by the author's own admission it's "not viable for demolyst dps until lv9999". seems kinda meme to me. and if you wanna instagib enemies with rhino, look no further than Harmony :p
@@Malurth well, it's the scaling. Not really lvl 9999, but may be lvl 400+, because their damage starting ramping up faster than their EHP. However! That wouldn't be the case if you have Jade Eximus. Because using it light you can stack a lot of overguard and then explode it.
I understand people that run his charge augment for big iron skin... but I would never understand why they would waste a mod slot for his iron skin augment so the ability is recastable. Like, it's literally useless when it's better to have that overguard gate to quickly jump to a safe location if you're going for the big iron skin setup.
glad someone else said it; the obsession with ironclad charge and all the other optimization kerfuffle is so annoying to see; ya go through all that setup just so you don't have to recast as often, all whist wasting precious few mod slots and ability slots just to be slightly more invincible than someone who was smart and strategic about tanking damage for ironskin
people just forget you can just press 2 again forever you dont even need lots of armor you just need duration and energy range is nice for cc for eximus but i prefer to just shoot them pretty good build all around i would change arcanes around and dump range you can run a companion to give shields back instantly you can reduce that cooldown with bond mods so heres the loop cast all your abilities iron skin goes down shields go down recast iron skin shield gate is long enough for you to not care the entire cast your shields become max thanks to sentinel in my opinion his auguments are trash his energy and ability to just have infinite basically allows him to have more duration for comfort and strength for funny damage number there is a lot to improve here arcane wise and with companions to get the best from him but anyone saying this build is garbage doesnt understand that i dont have to snowball anything im ready for level cap from the very start of the mission and i will have the ability to hit damage numbers that surprised people because ''rhino is hella outdated'' i place this dude higher then rev easily yes rev can one shot enemies with reave but next time you can cast that on acolytes or archons just let me stay one shotting and tanking all that better while you cope (rhino doesnt do the best damage obviously but he comfortably does insane number with good weapons of course and can tank along side revenant people dont understand rhino can just press 2 again ive already said that but yeah its not a contest they both can tank forever yipee so yeah revenant if you have no mods or suck at build as he is way stronger then a rhino with those things but once rhino starts having a clue of how the game works hes gonna just tank just as good) quick note rolling guard is a waste mod your shield gating is good enough thanks to sentinel only run rolling guard if you lazy and just wanna chill or have terrible reaction time and forget to recast a lot for archon shards just run full reds ability strength me like funny numbers that dont really do anything but over kill stuff his armor is redundant 3rd time saying this but just keep a good energy economy which is easy on him and recast his 2 i get like 5 to 7k overguard each time hit for millions and billions and when that enemy hits he at level cap with stupid amounts of damage i just lose iron skin shield gate cast iron skin sentinel restores shield i get headshots to reset its cooldown thanks to bond mods and repeat forever until i mess up this builds only flaw is your attention span
I hate the rain dances, even making sure i have the power from the aura and from focus school is annoying to me (but i must do it since it have it aviable )
Rhino is one of the best damage dealers in the game. Roar triple dips melee influence damage (if you use faction mods). You can obliterate everything with any melee if you are using Melee Influence Arcane. Building around iron skin is just silly. His best skill is ROAR and you should build around it. Try subsuming nourish, and then try any slash weapon with melee influence (with an electric damage mod ofc). I can obliterate enemies even with a base Skana and a bunch of mods.
Might I suggest giving Quorvex's Pillar whose name escapes me a try for a more area focused defense rhino? I plan on trying it out and, gasp, subsuming it over Iron Skin for it. Heresy, I know, but there are so many survival options in the game that replacing Iron Skin isn't that big of a deal. The only real loss is the overguard but Jade came with arcanes that siphon overguard off enemies so I can use that if I really need to. Or just have a Dante on my team. Or Styanax. Point being: I wanna see more people try Rhino's insane CC potential dangit, he's more than just a heavy weapons guy.
that sounds kinda awful to me tbh lol, tho I already have a big bias against deployables (like pillar) so there's that I like where your head's at tho, gotta try things out at least
Honestly, I was looking for the confidence to ditch my Parasitic Armor build. It’s just so clunky to use. Especially because I’m also using Arcane Guardian. Which I do feel works great on him. I’m curious how well Gloom works on him🤔
gloom is pretty awful on him imo, he doesn't have the range or energy economy to maintain it, and he has very little need of lifesteal/slow when he has "im invincible lol" as one of his base kit abilities but I hope this vid gives you the confidence to ditch that build, as you can see I am not a fan of it :p
@@Malurth well I actually do mod range because I have a more balanced stats build. Allows me to support my team a bit. Gloom…works, I guess. The energy economy isn’t too bad with Arcane Energize. But the ability itself just feels like overkill for points you already mentioned. Plus 92% Gloom (which is what I have) makes fights kinda boring. Only Eximus can really challenge me lmao. Heavily contemplating swapping for Terrify or Empower. Because my damage is still slightly lacking.
that's where nourish comes in :p not a big fan of armor strip abilities on Rhino because slash dmg bypasses armor and is boosted twice by roar. add viral on top of that and slash dots wreck high level enemies. meanwhile lower level enemies just get instantly obliterated, as seen in the vid also Empower is usually kind of just bad imo. other helminth options offer more
I've been running Rhino in a similar fashion for months, the most notable differences is that i have growing power as my aura, 5 armor tauforged and reinforcing stomp(which i should probably get rid of cos I don't use stomp that much anyways unless I'm overwhelmed in a survival mission) and no nourish yet as I don't have grendel yet. I kept seeing UA-camrs build into his overguard and to me that always seemed useless. If you're a decent enough player, overguard will last you an entire steel path mission.(Only Jade Eximus enemies will be a problem cos they're ridiculously stupid, but even then, just recast.). I cleared most of the starchart with this unfinished Rhino build including the Kuva Fortress, Void, Deimos, Zariman and Lua.(Except for Defense missions where I used Gara with a starstick) So cheers to that, when I clicked on this video I was expecting an overguard tutorial but I'm really happy other people will see and understand that Rhino can be an insane weapon master.
You are right that iron skin does not need to be high to be survivable. I took that approach to the extreme. I build with no armor mod, no armor shard, no armor modification at all. About 7k iron skin. Instead I go full strength, and shards are strength shards, energy shards and casting speed. So i have better energy economy. I run empowered as subsume. With empower cast my roar is 209%. I will gladly run around with 7k iron skin per cast iron skin in steel path than to sacrifice any roar damage. 7k iron skin per cast = still invincible as long as you have endless energy, which every endgame player should have access to.
I agree with using strength shards over armor shards, I only used armor cuz I'm lacking red shards to use and blues are still pretty good. disagreed with your other choices tho; with augmented stacked and Energy Conversion active (which is usually) my builds hit higher roars even without the str shards/Empower (Dur build hits 438%, aka 219% Roar), so idk what you're doing build-wise. and empower is just kind of a bad ability imo, you get a lot more out of saving mod slots with Nourish. anyway thx for commenting :p
An older iteration of my current build used reinforcing stomp heavily alongside magpull. With the introduction of jade eximus though, i find i can just abuse that for iron skin and save stomp as an emergency crowd stopper. Its really great to have, esp for interception and disruption.
@@Toga_himiko66 i use it between cleanse waves to slow em down, then mop em up with roar + strun prime, or even melee + primer. Its not ideal for anything past basic steel path but im happy with its performance.
I’ve only been playing for 3 weeks so I know I know bugger all about the game yet but apart from Rhino being a godsend for new players I struggle to imagine him not scaling to end game given his 2,3 & 4
I think the reason people still use iron shrapnel is due to it being much better in the earlier days (no shield gate) so you could die out right if your iron skin was too low also I am people I have not updated my build for the boy in years lol
I'll throw my own thoughts into the ring, Sadly I have a feeling I'm late to the party of getting a direct response from Malurth like Rinz did, but I think this is interesting. 1:I could be wrong but I think even youtubers talking about "1 million overguard build OMG" explicitly state that this isn't' exactly the best option. Like I remember someone like MHBlacky basically saying "Do you really NEED 1 million overguard when you can get half a million with ironclad charge and protective sling on its own, when you could instead pick another damage booster like Nourish or Rest & Rage, or a CC option like Ensnare or Larva", basically stating the obvious problem that these most extreme versions of the ironskin build are for the Memes and little else. 2: I think that to an extent, the idea that he's "So Augment Reliant" mostly for QoL reasons moreso than actually NEEDING them. Things LIKE the Ironclad Charge mechanic (which honestly I wish they'd just roll ironclad charge into being a base part of the ability at this point) and/or Reinforcing Stomp basically just being the "I want more overguard so I need to cast ironskin less often and get to cast my other skills more." Which is also something Rinz's comment noted similarly, Casting ironskin every 6 seconds would be frustrating and a significant drain on resources. (Heck, you noted about how you really want duration on your other abilities when this is the exact same problem with ironskin's duration) 3: Who's underrating Rhino? I thought he was seen as a weird sort of meta-proof frame that's always been at least kinda relevant.
nah im still here nws 1 and 3: trust me I've lurked reddit long enough to know that these somehow became the majority opinions lol. everywhere I looked, people acted as if the millions of overguard build was just "the build," and frequently wrote him off as outdated or unable to handle level cap content. eventually drove me mad enough to make this vid. (also I might be remembering poorly but I seem to recall Brozime underrating him on his tier lists too) 2: yeah but even still these literally seem like lower QoL to me; finding groups of enemies to do the rain dance on is a pain in the ass in my book, I'd much rather just press 2 on reaction occasionally. and opting for the latter saves you mod slots too, so win-win in my book. and this angle has gotten even better recently since you can still get very high overguard numbers just by standing in jade light lasers now, with no build-around. and shrug, it's just another thing I kept seeing people parrot as if these mods were auto-includes, and they're very much not.
Also, I think there's one other core problem with calling your build inherently better than others... 4 Tauforged Blue Archon Shards is a very high price to pay, while something like the aforementioned MHblacky build (which I'll use as the "Archetypical 1 million iron skin" build) completely avoids using archon shards completely. You're paying the same price using a different currency.
hard disagree there. the blues are optional, better replaced with red Str shards, and they're there precisely because they're cheap af. blues are usually pretty useless, this is giving them an actual use. you should be swimming in blue shards if you've been doing weeklies regularly lol
The people who use iron skin builds sre either sruck in like 2016 or they just dont know that for low level content you dont need that high amount amount, and for high level content it just stacks itself. Besides if youre running rhino its better to have him as a weapons platform with his roar being at 100% power and being able to use nourish
only armor I give is blue shards, and it's for a small amount of base overguard + fueling Arcane Battery for one way of getting +max energy, and most importantly, gives me something to do with my massive pile of blue shards lol I swapped it out for Strength tau reds once I got enough. that + Flow is kind of just better, except it requires a bunch of tau reds instead of tau blues, which is a little yikes.
I don't know that I'd say you have quote unquote, the Best build Ever, but it's certainly a nice change from the usual min/max. I personally don't go for explosive weapons that much, and as such, don't jump around as much as you do so I won't be maining your build, but will consider it an Alt build (with tweaks of my own) Cheers
Nevertheless, your rhino your build but dont go around praising your build is the better one because its not.
hnnnng yes daddy hit me with those hateful comments
anyway just cuz I'm a keyboard warrior at heart:
- if you'd have actually watched the vid you'd have seen I was demonstrating a fairly unrealistic worst case scenario there, in the Circulus demo I cast the ability like 4 times total. for the vast majority of content, it's still very low-effort.
- recasting occasionally on reaction is less of a pain in the ass than periodically seeking out clumps of enemies to do the armor-buffing ritual on anyway imo
- you really gonna sacrifice 3 mod slots and 2 abilities just so you don't have to press 2 as often and then tell me my build is hot garbage? ok lol
Jesus Christ what even are you?

I really love Rhino again though since the overguard change
also important to note is a lot of the stigma from vets of iron skin not being the best is from a time before shield gating as well, and only was somewhat alleviated with the augment (which was a must-slot before shieldgate)
the worst feeling in the world as old school rhino was running around with a 1 or a 0 in your ability bar like "i could die at any moment and i have no clue how quickly that fate is coming"

Used to be how I did interceptions. I'd just stomp and lock down the map

I can actually play the game with rhino

i would say that this is objectively better than revenant personally because you can use nourish AND roar at the same time
The best revenant build is the one shot reave build tho not the weapon platform one
yeh I view him as a more offensive version of Rev, bigger roar + extra helminth slot to amp damage even more; but Mesmer Skin is still the defensive GOAT, especially with Mesmer Shield to make your whole team invincible.
Bro spilled the beans
Yeah. I like the Iron Shrapnel augment so I can recast iron skin when I want. No other iron skin specific setups.
Hey you mind sliding the build I can’t find anything good and most of these builds are like a 1h setup

The “oh hi mark” chapter name cracked me up. Great video
Yep ever since shieldgate and overguard changes, I have also been running with Nourish and even a more "squishy" build than you (like I only have 8k overguard normally) since I basically invest all in strength instead and just kill everything before they can kill me and the iron skin will prevent anything from onetapping you. And I find it funny that Rhino technically will be more tankier the stronger the enemies are because of how iron skin works (millions of iron skin hp in Circuit with the Jackal laser walls that lasts until the next one lol)
alr then sheesh bro really told me to address my slow reaction time, but man did i enjoy playing rhino after this ty dude
I kind of miss when Stomp worked on Overguard. I had a max range build that I slapped Silence on that I called the 'Eximusterminator' build. It really saved some Steel Path Circuit runs.
We need that back cc should definitely work on overgaurd
I haven't really used rhino in years but he is still my most used frame lol.
this made me want to rebuild and actually use rhino now
THanks for sharing, didnt think of the passive shield gate by the rhino skin break,
People: Rhino cant survive without "on demand" 5 million iron skin
Also People: Dante is overpowered when he can just throw down 30k overguard
That's not what makes him op. It's his overguard gate on kill that makes him immortal, it's not the same thing
don’t forget that rhino’s overguard works only on himself, but Dante’s can be a team buff

The augment for Rhino charge that gives you a armor percentage is useful for really early game players.

No need Nourish to keep the energy but yeah is one of the most powerful WF in the game
by having arcane battery wouldn't it better if you use Health conversion instead of energy conversion? it makes sense to me personally.
good point; technically Health Conversion over Energy Conversion and replacing all the blue shards with Str shards would more or less be a strict upgrade to the Battery setup I have going here (+900 Armor +50% Str vs.
The all gold color scheme looks cool, i dig it.
5:19 Range is also good for Nourish since the explosion it triggers staggers enemies and primes them too, a staggered enemy also can't hurt you!
sadly Nourish explosion doesn't trigger on overguard damage, so it tends to only proc when you first take shield damage right after your overguard gate fades. this is actually a very mild downside in my experience, as if you quickly Iron Skin back to invulnerability, enemies may still be staggered for a little bit before they resume attacking to stack your overguard up. but you do get a free viral proc too so it evens out.
@@Malurth Ah! I didn't knew that, thanks.
I use a grouping ability on Rhino instead, it's not simply for Ironclad Charge. But for Duviri Decrees. Those buffs go crazy when added to Rhino, had like a 500% Roar some runs, no weapon is useless at that point. But Nourish might be fun.

So i use tempest barrage instead of nourish for my viral priming. It doesnt rely on my weapons to put viral on and im normal using him for netracells

I main Rhino, you should try my build:
I use thermal sunder on him.
Max efficiency (Streamline and rank 4 Fleeting)
Stretch and Aug reach
Prime continuity and Primed Flow
Umbral Strength and Tauforged Strength shards in every slot.
I was wondering when thermal slender would pop up
With the Jade Eximus you can get free 2m+ Iron Skin if you use it near the end of the Jade Light beam. Much easier than doing the "gather 70 bajillion enemies, Rhino Charge into them, do a gangnam style, 360 7 times, close your eyes and write down your name backwards vertically" method.
Just subsume and get a Nezha.

Proceeds to talk about RHINO for 17 minutes.
KnightmareFrame Jr.
well given my other similar vid on Saryn was the same except an entire hour longer, it's quick in my book :p
Doing this will just objectively power up your build by a lot :) because you essentially replace Energy Nexus with Flow and get 100% ability strength on top for free by adjusting Arcanes and Archons
Rhino has another cool way to play him, that is very very viable IMO, its with Dispensary + Equilibrium.
Damn I never thought of using that on rhino... why was nourish debuff. What about thermal slender
I kinda don't vibe with energy nexus on the first build, what would you put there otherwise?
probably augur secrets. or primed flow if you wanna free up your arcane/shard slots.
Jade eximus gold- ahem i mean.. *emerald* shower, if you time it right it will give you 2M overguard in base steelpath
(integer overflow)
the heck? did this update add some sort of build-code sharing feature I wasn't aware of? how do I use that code lol
@@Malurth YT delete comment with links, this is YT video
@@Malurth you just put it after watch?v=
ah, I see, thx. that certainly is an interesting build, tho by the author's own admission it's "not viable for demolyst dps until lv9999". seems kinda meme to me. and if you wanna instagib enemies with rhino, look no further than Harmony :p
I just run terrify over the 1 and use rienforcing stomp
Basically invulnerable ultra-cc monster that doesn't give a shit abt fuck
glad someone else said it; the obsession with ironclad charge and all the other optimization kerfuffle is so annoying to see; ya go through all that setup just so you don't have to recast as often, all whist wasting precious few mod slots and ability slots just to be slightly more invincible than someone who was smart and strategic about tanking damage for ironskin
people just forget you can just press 2 again forever you dont even need lots of armor you just need duration and energy range is nice for cc for eximus but i prefer to just shoot them pretty good build all around i would change arcanes around and dump range you can run a companion to give shields back instantly you can reduce that cooldown with bond mods so heres the loop cast all your abilities iron skin goes down shields go down recast iron skin shield gate is long enough for you to not care the entire cast your shields become max thanks to sentinel in my opinion his auguments are trash his energy and ability to just have infinite basically allows him to have more duration for comfort and strength for funny damage number there is a lot to improve here arcane wise and with companions to get the best from him but anyone saying this build is garbage doesnt understand that i dont have to snowball anything im ready for level cap from the very start of the mission and i will have the ability to hit damage numbers that surprised people because ''rhino is hella outdated'' i place this dude higher then rev easily yes rev can one shot enemies with reave but next time you can cast that on acolytes or archons just let me stay one shotting and tanking all that better while you cope (rhino doesnt do the best damage obviously but he comfortably does insane number with good weapons of course and can tank along side revenant people dont understand rhino can just press 2 again ive already said that but yeah its not a contest they both can tank forever yipee so yeah revenant if you have no mods or suck at build as he is way stronger then a rhino with those things but once rhino starts having a clue of how the game works hes gonna just tank just as good) quick note rolling guard is a waste mod your shield gating is good enough thanks to sentinel only run rolling guard if you lazy and just wanna chill or have terrible reaction time and forget to recast a lot for archon shards just run full reds ability strength me like funny numbers that dont really do anything but over kill stuff his armor is redundant 3rd time saying this but just keep a good energy economy which is easy on him and recast his 2 i get like 5 to 7k overguard each time hit for millions and billions and when that enemy hits he at level cap with stupid amounts of damage i just lose iron skin shield gate cast iron skin sentinel restores shield i get headshots to reset its cooldown thanks to bond mods and repeat forever until i mess up this builds only flaw is your attention span
Or Styanax.
Point being: I wanna see more people try Rhino's insane CC potential dangit, he's more than just a heavy weapons guy.
that sounds kinda awful to me tbh lol, tho I already have a big bias against deployables (like pillar) so there's that
I like where your head's at tho, gotta try things out at least
Honestly, I was looking for the confidence to ditch my Parasitic Armor build. It’s just so clunky to use. Especially because I’m also using Arcane Guardian. Which I do feel works great on him.
I’m curious how well Gloom works on him🤔
gloom is pretty awful on him imo, he doesn't have the range or energy economy to maintain it, and he has very little need of lifesteal/slow when he has "im invincible lol" as one of his base kit abilities
but I hope this vid gives you the confidence to ditch that build, as you can see I am not a fan of it :p
Because my damage is still slightly lacking.
that's where nourish comes in :p
not a big fan of armor strip abilities on Rhino because slash dmg bypasses armor and is boosted twice by roar. add viral on top of that and slash dots wreck high level enemies. meanwhile lower level enemies just get instantly obliterated, as seen in the vid
also Empower is usually kind of just bad imo. other helminth options offer more
I've been running Rhino in a similar fashion for months, the most notable differences is that i have growing power as my aura, 5 armor tauforged and reinforcing stomp(which i should probably get rid of cos I don't use stomp that much anyways unless I'm overwhelmed in a survival mission) and no nourish yet as I don't have grendel yet.
I kept seeing UA-camrs build into his overguard and to me that always seemed useless. If you're a decent enough player, overguard will last you an entire steel path mission.(Only Jade Eximus enemies will be a problem cos they're ridiculously stupid, but even then, just recast.). I cleared most of the starchart with this unfinished Rhino build including the Kuva Fortress, Void, Deimos, Zariman and Lua.(Except for Defense missions where I used Gara with a starstick)
So cheers to that, when I clicked on this video I was expecting an overguard tutorial but I'm really happy other people will see and understand that Rhino can be an insane weapon master.
Stomps also super good and people just dont use it
An older iteration of my current build used reinforcing stomp heavily alongside magpull. With the introduction of jade eximus though, i find i can just abuse that for iron skin and save stomp as an emergency crowd stopper. Its really great to have, esp for interception and disruption.
@@Seekerz3996You sure it's works the demolitioners?
@@Toga_himiko66 i use it between cleanse waves to slow em down, then mop em up with roar + strun prime, or even melee + primer. Its not ideal for anything past basic steel path but im happy with its performance.
A lot of people use Stomp if they go for DoT builds (Slash/Toxin).
@@walkelftexasranger wait how does stomp help with that? More Slash for my rhino sounds insane and toxic always fun
I went to level cap cascade with rhino ten times no problem and comfy idk what these peeps be talking about
im supposed to trust a build from a guy with the space herps come on
(i use the exact same rhino build)
I’ve only been playing for 3 weeks so I know I know bugger all about the game yet but apart from Rhino being a godsend for new players I struggle to imagine him not scaling to end game given his 2,3 & 4
I think the reason people still use iron shrapnel is due to it being much better in the earlier days (no shield gate) so you could die out right if your iron skin was too low also I am people I have not updated my build for the boy in years lol

why iver guard drain so quickly

@@Malurth big thank
Energy nexus ,zernick , arcane energize is needed the way this guy kept that iron skin with negative effi
it's also a nourish build. I generally recommend nexus or zenurik (and either flow or battery), but that's it.
True, Iron Skin isn't its only purpose.
(Heck, you noted about how you really want duration on your other abilities when this is the exact same problem with ironskin's duration)
3: Who's underrating Rhino? I thought he was seen as a weird sort of meta-proof frame that's always been at least kinda relevant.
nah im still here nws
1 and 3: trust me I've lurked reddit long enough to know that these somehow became the majority opinions lol. everywhere I looked, people acted as if the millions of overguard build was just "the build," and frequently wrote him off as outdated or unable to handle level cap content. eventually drove me mad enough to make this vid. (also I might be remembering poorly but I seem to recall Brozime underrating him on his tier lists too)
2: yeah but even still these literally seem like lower QoL to me; finding groups of enemies to do the rain dance on is a pain in the ass in my book, I'd much rather just press 2 on reaction occasionally. and opting for the latter saves you mod slots too, so win-win in my book. and this angle has gotten even better recently since you can still get very high overguard numbers just by standing in jade light lasers now, with no build-around. and shrug, it's just another thing I kept seeing people parrot as if these mods were auto-includes, and they're very much not.
Besides if youre running rhino its better to have him as a weapons platform with his roar being at 100% power and being able to use nourish
ok so why do we givee the rhino all that armor? what is its benefit exactly what does it play into let me know thanks
only armor I give is blue shards, and it's for a small amount of base overguard + fueling Arcane Battery for one way of getting +max energy, and most importantly, gives me something to do with my massive pile of blue shards lol
I swapped it out for Strength tau reds once I got enough. that + Flow is kind of just better, except it requires a bunch of tau reds instead of tau blues, which is a little yikes.
Okay this is what i fuckin needed, tysm dude
thank you for making this video!
I don't know that I'd say you have quote unquote, the Best build Ever, but it's certainly a nice change from the usual min/max. I personally don't go for explosive weapons that much, and as such, don't jump around as much as you do so I won't be maining your build, but will consider it an Alt build (with tweaks of my own)
Cheers
I'll use Rhino when he gets a rework similar to the one Nova got not too long ago. Rhino just feels... so old..
