Brian was soulful, mick was a beautiful transition, Ronnie was so respectful. Mick and kieth was reverent. I do believe this was a heartfelt point in their lives
This live version is Absolute perfection of an amazing song from my favorite band for 50+ years. The Stones so skillfully show you that minimal, emotional notes are what makes a great song. Listen to each artist; listen to Charlie’s drumming; to Mick’s vocals, Keith’s rhythm guitar, Ronnie’s petals, Chuck’s piano - it does not get any better than this. Enjoy it; as life is short…
Likewise. I’ve probably logged 100 listens over the years of this absolute classic. This live performance showcases a bunch of musical perfectionists. Take each member- Charlie’s drumming, Mick’s vocals & acoustic guitar, Chuck’s piano, Keith’s rhythm guitar, & Ronnie’s slide. All on their game. Once in a lifetime; we do live in a great musical era ❤. Thanks for the memories.
PS: is it me, or is this one of the quickest four minutes in your musical life ever? I can’t stop listening to this incredible live version of a beautiful song…
Brian's not alone anymore since he has Charlie on his side once again. I bet that they're now playing this together again for the first time in over 50 years.
@@paulotonedef This was av very strange comment - do you mean "have fun" in a negative way or did I missunderstand ? My brother was a musician who really loved Rolling Stones. This was a way to honor him as we do in Sweden !!
Awesome song and greatest band ever. Keith's the greatest guitarist riff master ever along with Ronnie the two are amazing, and Mick what can I say perfection him and Charlie. Like fine wine they improve every year ❤
Keith Richards wrote in his book "Life " that he and Jagger wrote this song after recording Love in Vain, the Robert Johnson classic; to see if they could do it.
Have always loved this song & spent many hours alone listening to Beggars Banquest on a little blue mono record player. This track sends me to friendly, happy places where the sun always shines & people are laid back & enjoying themselves. It is optimism personified & reminds me of why I have such a deep affection for this band.
Take me to the station And put me on the train I've got no expectations To pass through here again Once I was a rich man Now I am so poor But never in my sweet short life Have I felt like this before Your heart is like the diamond You throw your pearls at swine And as I watch you leavin' me You pack my peace of mind Our love was like the water That splashes on a stone Our love is like our music Why is it here, and then it's gone? So take me to the airport And put me on a plane I got no expectations To pass through here again
Loved it. Great job by a great band, and a REALLY great live band. Oh, yes indeed it was Brian who played slide on the original. But Ronnie does a beautiful job here. The same? No. Nice? Absolutely. I wish some Stones posers could just listen to the damn music.
You will be happy you did see them live if you get the chance. They are amazing! It was always my dream then my sisters husband got some tickets in 1989. They sang at least 25 songs, many were their classics. Sometime during the show Mick came out on top of a 5 story tall tower to sing Sympathy For the Devil. During the refrain Mick took the elevator down to stage level then finished the song. Thrilling. It was in Raleigh, NC and I remember I wore my Union Jack t-shirt, a day to remember.
I'm glad that ungrateful idiot Taylor QUIT the greatest band in the history of time.... They did all the heavy lifting and PICKED Taylor and he quit??? Ronnie was their first pick but was committed to Faces. Then Face broke up and Mick quit.... perfect timing.
as time goes on the Stones get better and better at this tempo. they should increase the blues and reduce the rock 'n roll. Especially Keith's voice; goes straight through me in Love Hurts!!
Stones' music is immortal (as the members of the band are)! Many years passed away and still no hip hop, no punk...just nothing killed their music though many of old bands of their times haven't survived. I don't know how about you, but I just can't imagine any of Stones die...I know they could...the age and so on, but...still...it's for me unlikely to happen...somehow.
No Expectations The Rolling Stones Take me to the station And put me on a train I've got no expectations To pass through here again Once I was a rich man and Now I am so poor But never in my sweet short life Have I felt like this before You heart is like a diamond You throw your pearls at swine And as I watch you leaving me You pack my peace of mind Our love was like the water That splashes on a stone Our love is like our music It's here, and then it's gone So take me to the airport And put me on a plane I've got no expectations To pass through here again
Thanks for posting this. I have never seen this live performance of one of my favorite Stones songs. If memory serves me well, "No Expectations" was the flipside of "Street Fighting Man."
Absolutely love that Keith took the lead without the band’s anticipation. Mick tries to stop him ( look closely at the beginning lol) Keith “ robs” Ronnie of his licks, but he and Charlie ( RIP) have a good laugh about it during the performance.
Totally ❤. Great call. Keith & Charlie - thank you, God, for these great performers and more importantly, great people. Charlie & Keith represent the most honest, humble musicians ever…RIP dear Charlie; thanks so much for everything you gave me. I loved how Keith would always go to you during each show for not only the beat; but the inspiration in every song ❤️. Keith had such great respect for Charlie- he will be remembered as the very best drummer in a rock and roll band 😊.
LOVE THEM They Are The BEST !!!! I have never seen them in concert :( I Must try to this tear go to see them somewhere I Hope A Real Dream come True for ME it would be :) xoxoxox
Feliz por eles ainda existirem...fui a dois Shows deles aqui no Brasil, Um no Maracanã e outro em COPACABANA- RIO de JANEIRO com um milhão e meio de pessoas na praia, foi incrível!!! I LOVE STONES!!!
Son lo máximo! Pocas bandas pueden modernizar sus canciones como lo hacen los Stones, para la muestra un botón con esta "No Expectations"; anteriores versiones como la del Circus son bellas, y esta es presente e increíble!
From Portugal during covid 19 quarentee keep home this is so calm nice and remember your invitation to our Ana Moura fadista in portuguese fado song Thank for your attention It was very. Nice moment zgood travel to all of you tks again
Well since Homeward Bound was on the charts for 12 weeks and peaked at 5, it can't be said that they out-Homeward Bound-ed Simon & Garfunkel the way they out-Maggie- May-ed Rod Stewart with Angie, but they did field an offering. If you liked Simon & Garfunkel's Homeward Bound, then the Stones had a song you might like. And No Expectations is a good, solid song.
No expectations is one of the
Stones most beautiful songs
Ronnie wood is classic
Brian was soulful, mick was a beautiful transition, Ronnie was so respectful.
Mick and kieth was reverent. I do believe this was a heartfelt point in their lives
The three guitars really work beautifully together on this version. And Charlie-perfect, as always.

Brian deserves more recognition from the band ❤

This helps me appreciate Ron and also helps me to forget (momentarily) my mourning over Brian and longing for Mick T.
Brian's not alone anymore since he has Charlie on his side once again. I bet that they're now playing this together again for the first time in over 50 years.
a haunting and beautiful song, LONG LIVE THE STONES!
We played this at my Brothers funeral ! Fantastic !

Fantastic? Brother's funeral?!... Hmmm?..
It can easy be misunderstandings when people who not have English as maternal language write to each other
It's really fun seeing the Stones just chilling, and enjoying playing music like they do here! Rock on!
So sad, melancholic and sweet, as the love end could be, the song is forever for me ...
Awesome song and greatest band ever. Keith's the greatest guitarist riff master ever along with Ronnie the two are amazing, and Mick what can I say perfection him and Charlie. Like fine wine they improve every year ❤
Probably the best Stone's song to not be a hit single.
The Spirit is Bright!
Yeah baby ! The Rolling Stones 🔥
My favorite Rolling Stones song through the years.
This is my favorite Rolling Stones song at this time.
Keith Richards wrote in his book "Life " that he and Jagger wrote this song after recording Love in Vain, the Robert Johnson classic; to see if they could do it.

Simply sublime.
The way the play ... the way they have fun on the stage ... the Stones are too good to be compared to other artists. Thery’re MUSIC.
Take me to the station
And put me on the train
I've got no expectations

I dig how he ain't singing "in my sweet SHORT life" anymore, but "sweet sweet life" - dude's growing up
Same here. Amazing how they have gotten better and better. I've seen them live so many times and they just excel on all accounts. Wonderful!

Unlike the Pope,l hope the Stones never retire...theres no one to take their place!!!

I like this Beggers Banquet song, I saw them playing in Paris in 2003:)
The first song I ever heard when I was a child. Then I discovered rock and roll forever
