I believe Lana is adressing someone who died and not someone who broke up with her. The main indicator is the whispered lyric:"dead like you" such a masterpiece
Yes! The song is so impactful that I only heard this sigh after listening to it a few times.
Yeah it's probably about a romantic interest that died, instead of one that broke up with her.
It's her song about her first love, Aaron Green. The beginning is talking about her laying in the ocean singing his song wanting to die, which listening to Fingertips from DYKTIATUOB, she talks about attempting suicide by drowning in Rhode Island.

The lyrics video doesnt show all of the lyrics, the crucial part is left out. When she says "but I wish I was dead" she silently says "dead like you". Its a song about a loved one who passed away.

This song is a perfect representation of losing the one person you love more than anything in the world and nobody can truly understand it. You walk around empty with a void when they are gone, never truly happy just existing, people try to push you to date, give you stupid advice out of ignorance and see you as being negative, because people don't like to see what grief and loss does to a person, it's uncomfortable so they turn it into something "positive" when there is nothing "positive" about grief or loss..

Any addict will tell you about the dreams of using then waking up and having to go through life without it.
I’ve always thought this song was about this.

Of all my family, I miss my grandmother the most, who died of blood cancer. And I’m still so ashamed that before that I didn’t know about her illness, but every time I called, she walked far from her house to an ATM, threw me 500 UAH ($12) and asked if I was fine and well Am I eating? The most important thing is that I spent the last half year of her life with her. I loved her very much. I'm getting my master's in behavioral health and as the other half of lanas paradise lost it's easy to cast shade and mock someone when you only require attention. She doesn't need to stoop. It's also unsafe to not qualify and meet a patient before diagnosis and definitely stigmatism isn't a provider's purpose. What Lana and I had was supernatural and it defies convention. With that said I'm still devastated over the circumstances of our estrangement, relationship neither of us ended .
