    Are you still playing like this ? Im planning to buy blackstar fly 3 and run it with power bank. But problem is blackstar power adapter is 6.5v. So now i changed my mind i will buy micro cube. But have a feeling this may damage micro cube in the long run. So do you still play like this with powerbank and did it damage any of ur amps ??

      @Hemanta kakati, Yes. I also use it with my computer's USB port to power when I'm home.
      At home, we don't need too loud so shouldn't affect much.
      These are less than a hundred dollars in eBay so even if they die in few years, savings in battery price is more.

      @@sunnysgadgetreviews5886 Hi there, thanks for the video. I was about to order the adapter to try this but then saw this message first. Is it possible that this set up would actually hurt the amp's life?

    • @sunnysgadgetreviews5886
      @sunnysgadgetreviews5886  4 роки тому +1

      @@butchnap Anything is possible. The amp can go bad even with supplied power supply.
      However, it's almost a year and both my amps are still working good with usb supply.
      It's an amp, not a person that knows whether it's connected to the wall or a battery.
      As long as it gets correct voltage and amps, it'll work fine.
      One thing to mention is, it only works with higher power battery packs like 8400 mah or more with at least three 18650 batteries.
      I tried using it with a 5600 mah battery pack and it didn't work as it only has two 18650 batteries that don't provide enough current.

    I checked the Roland Micro Cube GX and it has a DC input from the wall wart of 5.7 vdc and 2 amp. Don't think this will work with the GX.

    • @sunnysgadgetreviews5886
      @sunnysgadgetreviews5886  4 роки тому

      That doesn't make sense. If it uses 6 1.5v batteries, it's total 9v not 5.7v.

    • @geroncra
      @geroncra 4 роки тому +2

      @@sunnysgadgetreviews5886 Agreed! I figured the label on the transformer was a misprint but I plugged it in and checked. It measured 5.8 vdc. Perhaps it's possible that the GX has a step up inside so that a standard 5.5 USB can be plugged in the DC jack??? Think I'll check with Roland for clarification. Right . . . It just doesn't make sense. I checked the specs in the owners manual and there was no information.
      I just sent this to Roland/Boss:
      The PSD 120 power adaptor has an output of 5.7 volts dc 2 amps (I checked it at 5.8 volts). However, 6 batteries at 1.5 vdc equals 9 volts dc. Is there a voltage step up internally on the DC input jack to step the voltage up to 9 volts dc? If I wanted to run the Micro Cube GX on a USB Power pack instead of batteries what voltage do I need to input on the DC input (5.5 or 9 volts) jack???? Slightly confused

    • @geroncra
      @geroncra 4 роки тому +2

      Roland confirms for the GX the DC input from the transformer (wall wart) is 5.7 vdc. Probably the safest approach would but to run the 9 vdc into the battery terminals from a separate port mounted on the chassis. I'm gonna break mine down and see what's what on the inside. (update after break down) I bought the USB to 9vdc step up so I'll mount 5.5/2.5 port on the chassis and solder it directly to the battery + and - (noting polarity) on the GX. I don't see why you could not plug a standard 5.5 vdc USB into the existing dc port.
      Caveat: the Cube may have a different voltage input than the Cube GX. Be sure to check.

    • @sunnysgadgetreviews5886
      @sunnysgadgetreviews5886  4 роки тому +1

      @@geroncra I see. It's hard to get step up for 5.7 v. You can try regular 5v but it may cut off when amp pulls in more amp playing high volume. My mobile cube pulls over 8 amp with microphone. GX doesn't have mic so probably it'll be okay.

      I converted to a ''Powerpack -to- Roland Mobile Cube'' using Thomann **Harley Benton Powerpack 24 months ago...works great on any gig or rehearsal...**powerpack still good (39 euros). The **Harley Benton Pack has X2 9v outlets. (1 powers the amp and 1 powers a MOOER mini DI box for bigger gigs or for front of house PA.) If you make a holder for batt. pack and use existing screw holes you can carefully attach and re-charge your powerpack any time. On my 2nd Roland Mobile Cube, I used a generic ''phone'' powerpack + Joyo ''ZGPW" 5v-9v converter (lipstick-size 10 euros) ...this works fine on Roland battery amps. -- IMPORTANT NOTICE -- Not all ''battery-powered'' amplifiers are outer + (plus) inner - (neg). Check symbols before attempting any of the above or ask an electrician to make the cable and check voltage/current-draw etc.
