Hopefully the clearing has been done to restore the track. On an unrelated note, there’s been a drilling crew just north of the North Falmouth crossing drilling test holes on the west side of the tracks. When the crew was asked what they were doing, they said they were testing the soil for retaining walls. I’m not reading too much into this, but hopefully the bike path will go alongside.
I know that area well, great rail history in Valley Falls. There was a grand old station on Chapel Street and s locomotive works off Jones Street. Great to see the spur in use. Check out the old viaduct on Paine Road in Attleboro. I believe it was part of that line.
Nice! Great to still see some P&W locomotives in the old color scheme... But I really miss the old P&W M-420R's. Easily my favorite road switcher of all time...
They were among the first wide-nose cabs in use in the US, built by Montreal Locomotive Works, which was a division of the American Locomotive Company, thereby essentially making the M-420R's wide-nose Alcos! P&W had how many, 4? 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. Then when the P&W bought the Norwich Main (Plainfield-Groton) in 1980, they ordered some new GP-38's, 3 or 4, I don't remember exactly, numbered after the MLW's.
@@kenmcgory8768 The wide nose cabs were the primary reason I like the M-420R's. That and the AAR Type B trucks from traded in RS-3's... I believe one of them was wrecked/scrapped. At least a few of the remaining four were sold to Iowa Interstate RR (I think that's the name of RR).
What's the next step? Great work in New England, bringing all sorts of left to rot tracks and their RoW's back to life. That's higher order thinking at its best. The rest of the country could learn a lesson from what they're doing up there.
Will this spur that’s blocked by these concrete barricades and overgrown cutoff weed stumps, be reopened, and if so how soon. I love seeing old spurs and sidings that have been or are in the process of being reopened, which is also an indication of warehouse buildings being reopened/restored that railroad boxcars may be dropped off at in the future. There was nothing wrong with that in the past, other than trucking, why terminate this, everyone has/had families that needed to survive in this county.
My guess is it was the next door neighbor. Who would put up with a rodent attracting mess like that just steps from the house except someone who put it there.

That's a definite re-do with the tree stumps all under the railbed, good to see happen.
Thanks for watching!
Certainly thought provoking. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
And that's pretty awesome you caught a Providence and Worcester stone train too even though it was 3 cars long
Thanks for watching
@@SouthCoastRailVideos You're Very welcome
Great video hopefully they're going to use this spur track again and I wonder how long and far it goes
Thanks for watching
I tried to follow it last weekend, doesn't seem to even make it to Dexter Street unfortunately

I wouldn't be too hopeful the track does get restored but would be the coolest thing if by chance it ever did.
Tracks cleared and new ties most certainly means something is up. Why else after all these years, no?
Hopefully being restored. I’m cautiously optimistic.
keep us updated on the progress

your welcome @@SouthCoastRailVideos
I was there this morning with my son! 3905 is an oldie I haven't seen in the valley.

Thanks for watching! The next step would be ties if it is being restored.
Couldn't tell from your vid/pics, is the switch on the main line intact?
Long gone
Who was doing the clearing railroad or a different group?
I do not know
So the P&W got a new customer
Not necessarily. All I know os what I saw, cleared track.

The future is unknown
When was it last used
1990
Seeing all the trash and mattress, i think it was cleared to expose a homeless camp

@@BG-sl9lvdefinitely wasn’t the neighbor. It’s a pretty long stretch likely done with machinery.
