I was disappointed that the connective tissues of these issues was never identified and discussed. Fundamentally, Roe was about a right to privacy, that a medical decision is a private decision between a woman and her doctor. The right to marry who you choose to love is also a private decision. The decision to use birth control and to enjoy consensual relations within the privacy of your own bedroom, those decisions are also about privacy. Ripping apart the right to privacy has far reaching impacts. Now Gov Abbott makes your most private decisions.
I believe the ability to refuse treatment is also based on privacy. That's another issue that will be turned upside down at some point. It's probably low hanging fruit until they get a nationwide abortion and contraception ban. Probably would even wait for marriage equality to be ripped up.
Did you notice that in Thomas' opinion that he didn't include another issue based on privacy? He left off interracial marriage. I wonder why? /S 🤔
Maybe it is about taking away rights to privacy among other rights, but it is always about taking away women's rights; they are good with men retaining rights to privacy and all their other rights. And another women's right that is on the chopping block for many MAGAs, is women's right to vote. They are fairly confident they can retain power in the USA indefinitely, if they can keep women from voting. It is straight out of the Gilead playbook. I'n not ready to be a Handmaid, a Magdalene, a Martha, an Econowife, or an Aunt, are you? We need to get more women into the House (of Reps), the Senate, the White House, and the SCOTUS.
Bottom line is we need politicians out of our doctor exam rooms and out of our bedrooms.
I still don't understand how politicians can practice medicine without a license.
My daughter took out college loans. They turned out to be predatory and she is still paying after many years, with years to go. She was young and was taken advantage of. Now she is paying for it. These lenders were criminal in their actions.
Is she eligible for any of the latest relief, like the interest forgiveness, at least?

@lindas-k5766 The vaccine is 98% effective. For starters. He also claimed the US did NOT fund gain of function Research at the lab in China. He really sgould be on trial for treason the way he took sides with China over the whole C19 ordeal. Not to mention what we all know now about the long term effects of the vaccine on some people.

One topic I have never seen addressed when talking about abortion is, what happens to the unwanted babies? Just think. Country after country have over grown orphanages and children's homes resulting with kids raising kids starving on the streets. Our government for far too long has not gotten a handle on homelessness . If anything its growing. Women who can't abort , can't take care of these babies and there will be no government help available. No food, no housing no medical care. Especially if repugs keep control. These babies/children will be the new homeless population. A large number of this population will be sick or dying and they will be thrown onto the streets just like what they did to our vets. As Americans, can you live with that. That's the reality folks and it will get far worse if we don't vote out anyone who is against women's rights/children's rights. VOTE BLUE!
I can answer this in my own state. In my state, about 250 children per year turn 18 without ever having lived with a family. Of these 250 18-year-olds, 2/3 of them will be dead or in prison before their 19th birthday. I don't know about other states, but because of my profession I know the statistics in my own state.
@stephentilliets7983 Abortion is available in all Blue cities where the voters voted Blue and yet the homelessness in those cities keeps growing every year. Your theory does not work. Honelessness has little to do with abortion laws. I have lived in New York for decades where we have unlimited abortion services. I still n have to step over human feces left by adults who were not aborted and not unwanted by their mothers. We have pooper scoopers for pets, but none for humans. We keep giving free debit cards to illegal immigtants with hindreds of dollars on each one while the homeless adult Americans get nothing.
are you serious ? where do you get your information from ? do you have any idea how many studies have been done on that topic to exhaustion? The evidence is abundantly clear. As a matter of fact there was a book by a couple statisticians called Freakanomics - that posited that the Huge reduction in violent crime in the USA that many , many politicians took credit for - Rudy Guiliani really comes to mind . After crunching the data - these authors proposed that the true reason for the drastic reduction in crime happened to also co-incide with 18 years after the passage of Roe Vs Wade - and that because of the access to abortion - there were not a lot of 18 yr olds walking around having endured 18 yrs of being unwanted an attempting to survive in underprivileged if not impoverished circumstances. Their calculations could substantiate it - conclusively - needless to say the jesus freaks when absolutely postal and predictably lead protests of the authors - their books - etc etc - you know the rest . The point is - it is a very well- known phenomena
Yes. Sadly, the anti-abortion crowd seems very unconcerned about what happens to unwanted babies after they are born. Don't look for strong anti-abortions states to increase health care spending for mothers and their children or an increase in child food subsidies.
For someone to be pro life, they’d have to be pro child and pro pregnant woman in order not to be a hypocrite. Anyone entirely passionate about saving a pregnancy should be equally as concerned and passionate about the woman’s life. They should be willing to contribute to the welfare of both for as long as it takes to make both “whole” and for that child, it can mean their entire childhood and young adulthood and the pregnant woman should have the freedom to decide whether or not she will accept help. No one has the moral right to be make any decision for a pregnant woman or her unborn child without also offering a loving and useful and lasting solution.

Biden's student debt efforts to date have been life-changing for our 40-ish son and his wife. The reduced payments actually made it possible them to buy a small house. Guess who they (and their mom & pop!) will be voting for!

Why are you acting like a National Abortion law wouldn't affect everybody based on the wishes of individual states just like the election issue? Are you deliberately obtuse or just prone to using logical fallacy to attack people with whom you disagree? How about we address a different question of the same nature, why are states able to make decisions regarding abortion law but not gun law? It seems to me that the question asked was more likely asking why the hypocrisy of these decisions is allowed, versus specifically these two issues. The blatant Corruption of several of the more conservative justices that sit upon the Supreme Court these days and the outrageous activism and religious ideology that is inherent in the decisions they've been making is blatantly unconstitutional based on the First Amendment, so I think questioning the Court's rulings is not only appropriate but important and it should matter to everybody regardless of party affiliation

Possibly not, he is actually a terrible businessman. He has always survived on credit and by not paying people what he owes them. A lot of people won't stay in Trump hotels precisely because it is a Trump hotel, there are plenty of other hotels to choose from.

To be fair, he should've been found guilty of crimes worthy of expulsion from the ballot before they tried expelling him from the ballot. We technically honor an 'innocent until proven guilty' mentality, though- that being said- I also know Al Capone was much more of a criminal than just what he was convicted of.
@erichancock6815 To be accurate, the Colorado case was decided by the trial level judge who said that he was indeed an insurrectionist but didn't know if he could go so far as to remove him from the ballot. The Appellate Court judge said on appeal that he was an insurrectionist that didn't belong on the ballot. The state Supreme Court upheld the view that he was an insurrectionist and that the application of Section Three of the 14th Amendment definitely gave the authorization to remove him from the ballot in the state without any additional steps required on a straightforward read of the Amendment. So please tell me how this was not adjudicated through the process of the legitimate trial process. The decision made by the Unsupreme Noncourt was a rebuke to due process and democratic norms and just plain reasonable behavior. It was bad faith partisan hacks rewarding bad behavior by a bad actor.

I would like to hear about resources and solutions for unwanted children.
These very strict Abortion Laws will. Put the poor people financially difficulties and. It could cause the mother and baby to become homeless.

I don't know about other states, but because of my profession I know the statistics in my own state. Because of the Republican congress, there are no funds to help kids after this point. Private funders want to help the kids but not the adults. We can't make personal relationships ourselves to continue to support 250 new 18-year-olds every year, so our personal concern can't save them all.
Meanwhile, the state Republicans keep banning single people or non-heterosexual people from being foster or adoptive parents, which increases the number of 18-year-olds who have never lived with a family. Organizations manage to get those laws reversed each time. It's kept quiet, of course; the GOP wants to make sure their voters don't find out. And then when election season comes around, they make new campaigns to ban them from fostering and adopting all over again, winning those GOP voters who forgot that they already did that last election season. Repeat, repeat, repeat. And the kids are left floating in a sort of purgatory.
Ban money from politics.
In the meantime we have to. Stop Voting for corrupt Politicians.

The justices of the court need to become elected positions with a 10-yr. tenure. As Americans continue to suffer from the extreme positions of this court and and become subjected to their political bias, it is time to remove their security as they have removed the security of the people. The people must have a voice in governing in all 3 branches of government.
I agree that appointments should be defined by a term. However, having justices campaign and stand for election would not guarantee that voters will choose people of quality. If Americans can elect Trump they can also elect a justice MT Greene, etc. I am Canadian and, somehow, we do not refer to our Supreme Court appointees as “appointed by Prime Minister X”. For that I am grateful. I think that America (and Canada) might do better by restricting lobbyists’ (like the Federalist Society) access to government. If all lobbying had to be done on camera…?

The Professor's wearing of a chain necklace, resembling a bondage chain, should not be missed by viewers. It is an ugly symbol of what some in todays society see as women's place. I have heard men rabidly insulting women in these past few years, and it is disturbing. In a world demanding harder work and commitment, to have any success people who are failing will always look for some one, or thing to dominate. It is important that we are all ready to stand up for others and denounce that behaviour.

To my knowledge, the only abortions performed up to the eighth month were in China during the one-child policy period.
These were not allowed, but mandatory. That was an answer to the overpopulation problem.
The West did this with forced sterilization of "undesirables". As advocated by major American eugenics organizations such as: American Eugenics Society (founded 1906) and Eugenics Record Office (founded 1910)

Margaret Sanger, the Godmother of Planned Parenthood was a racist and a eugenics enthusiast. She thought Black people were human weeds that needed to be uprooted from the garden of society. That's why so many PP abortion clinics were set up in Black communities.
A lot of these student loan programs simply reduce how much you pay every month, but they do nothing to actually reduce the amount you will have to pay. In most circumstances, they put people in forbearance which just causes the balance to get bigger through interest.

Some lenders have begun to be predators on the hopes and dreams of young men and women who have worked hard for an opportunity of being better than the generation before them. Too reward their parents for the work they put into their future. Loan Predators, are what is wrong with student debt. The GOP supporting that group of Loan Companies that are lobbying and contributing to their Political Parties are no less guilty in the exploitation, of the hopes and dreams of the youth, and hindering the education of the next generation.
So those with opportunities worth my time and aren't depending on lies and fraud have a great chance getting and keeping me. LMK.
