    The wall was finished by the qin emperor and China was far from unified. It’s like Ancient Greece with multiple city states. The wall was originally built facing north but as the army loses some battles, the enemy rebuilds certain sections of the wall to face south.(from Chinese grade 3 history)

    The Great Wall of China is a conglomeration of many walls, some small, some large that was built at various times and by different groups of people. It was all joined together to form what it is today. It was also built of different material depending on its location.

      Also,I'd like to point out that the word "Tatary" was first used by Europeans to indicate East Asia , meaning that there is no such way that native asians made an empire with that name. Second,if such a massive empire existed in the Classical Age there would've been actual evidence . Third,if it existed, what ethnicity ruled it ? The Tatars ? They are merely descendants of the Cumans,whom existed in the Middle Ages, long after the Great Wall of China was built

    All those things, and MORE are matters of record. For most of the deaths during construction they even recorded what village the worker had lived in.
    I realize history isn’t popular here, but there was a very long period where modern China was a collection of disparate states. They’ve even got a name for it. The Warring States Period. But on either side of that the fighting continued and they built walls to protect themselves from other people who are today in modern China.

    I seen a documentary on the wall that backs this idea for, by way of satellite imagery and certain types of mapping things found more sections of the wall that had extended to the Caspian sea. That the great wall was simply a reconstruction project of once many walls united I to one but had sections destroyed along the millenias.
    The documentary states that there was evidence of the wall extending even farther than that

    Huh? The windows and openings (such as arrow slits) on the Great Wall of China generally face north. This is because the Great Wall was primarily built to protect against invasions from northern tribes and forces, so the fortifications, including the windows and battlements, are oriented to allow defenders to observe and defend against threats coming from the north.

    Tartaria never existed, it was a generalisation on old maps by European geographers similar to how the ancient Greeks called everything north of them 'scythians'.
    The great wall of China was built by the Qin dynasty to prevent the Huns and Mongolian tribes from continuing to devastate the outer territories of China. It was actually a joining up of other existing walls, as well as upgrading them to stone from wood.

    • @KrazyDragonX905
      @KrazyDragonX905 Рік тому +1

      The posts face China because its where the garrison Units would be, notice in the screensgrab background pic of this video you can see why, with the post face inward to China, the access by enemies makes it harder as they would be entering a Kill box by sniping arrows coming from the side of the wall ledges.
      Also because its where the garrison troops stay you want to keep them alittle safer.
      Also each post contains an area to light a big torch fire to alert the other posts and nearby of an invasion and can you imagine if the posts were facing outward? They could get invaded or attacked before they even light the fire.
      Also commands may come by scouts on horses so having the post inward makes it easier to hear commands by the riders when shouted upwards.
      The post is the most significant parts of the Great wall as it is a vantage point you can retreat into to make a last stand if surrounded or it can be a launching area of attack.
      This is strategically speaking the posts are built inward compared to the wall itself.

    I highly doubt that. China had some of the most important products that people across the world coveted, such as silk and porcelain. This is the reason why barbarians from the north wanted to invade China. The Chinese also had an insular culture, they truly believed that they were the "greatest empire" and that they already controlled the most important lands in the world, that's why there was no pressure for them to invade and colonize other lands, in fact they would often impose policies of self-isolation. During the Ming Dynasty, they had a brief period of exploration, led by admiral Zheng He, but they suddenly decided to stop the expeditions and impose self-isolation.
