    Crazy to think I was working right across the street at enterprise when this happened this morning and had no idea. Sometimes I get scared with the planes taking off so closely.

    One of my SUV tires failed while I was driving on an Interstate in Kentucky. I pulled off to the wide of the road and contacted AAA, which sent out a wrecker to assist.

      @@tyronos None, because the odds of being in an airplane crash are factors lower than a car crash.... THOUSANDS of times more likely to be killed in a car than a plane.

      @@biggiesmalls7939 you clearly are missing the point. People walk away from car accidents all the time, whereas a plane crash you will almost certainly NOT walk away. Furthermore, almost all car accidents occur because of human error... practically nobody has lost their life because their car engine failed

    Disgusting..not even halve assed..improper pre flights and dailys..inexcusable..but considering the current transportation secretary..and the "when in doubt..send em out " attitudes of some carriers its typical..wonder if greyhound bus is looking into creating some alternative travel experiences for the traveler

    The pilot is supposed to do a "walk around" the plane to ck the plane for anything wrong & he didn't notice that tire!! That's required b4 you take off.....SMH!!

      Why assume this was the pilots fault, what if it was FOD? also maintenance issues happen EVEN when things appear normal.

      How many pre flight walk arounds have you done on a 737-800? I'm going to guess zero. Do you really think the pilot would ignore a damaged tire? They don't have x-ray vision to see internal defects. Aircraft tire blow-outs happen all the time, just like cars. They also get replaced way more frequently than your normal car does.

    The tire dod NOT catch fire during take off, why do news stations still report false or incorrect info?? The tire blew out at near lift off speed, combined with heavy braking created lots of heat. After the 737 MAX 8 pulled off and parked the heat expanded and small fire started 2 mi AFTER clearing runway. It was quickly put out however its concerning that with fuel just above the wheels, that the plane was not evacuated.
